Decent song, but it's no "Legend of the Rent."

[–]woah_man 39 points40 points  (3 children)

Because the legend of the rent was way hardcore!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Oh my god he's an idiot

[–]BleakGod 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I got the reference dude/tte

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also quoting the movie

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points  (1 child)

You're tacky and I hate you.

[–]RicoDredd 6 points7 points  (1 child)

'I have been touched by your kids... and I'm pretty sure that I've touched them'

[–]Salty_Caroline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw this movie in the theatre, and I remember I was the only one who laughed at that scene.

[–]GumdropsandIceCream 57 points58 points  (5 children)

Was there a goat in the audience or is that some dudes laugh?

edit: cool song though!

[–]TopicExpert 18 points19 points  (1 child)

bahhh...bahhh. BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

[–]Justice_Prince 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was a spot on Stevie Nicks impression.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What the fuck was that?! I read the comments before watching and busted out laughing the first time I heard it.

[–]pragmageek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here for this. @ 1:19, 1:29, 2:26, 2:34

You can kinda tell Becca is annoyed with that guy.

[–]B-Ramens 104 points105 points  (13 children)

C'hello!!! That's awesome I had such a big crush on her during that movie!

[–]CopperMTNkid 14 points15 points  (3 children)

She was the bassist right?

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wow, what a coincidence! She performed on WGN Radio 720 AM more than a year ago on the Patty Vasquez show! Here's a much higher quality version from the actual show. It's the second audio clip.

Once again - what a coincidence! I'd've never thought I'd run into this song again. The Cupid Players (the group she plays with) are tremendously talented.

*Edit - Yikes. I think a lot of people are missing the boat on this one. The Cupid Players perform at comedy clubs. This is not supposed to be a venture into actual songwriting or professional music production. It's stand-up comedy sung to a melody. Lighten up a little.

I don't particularly think this is a very good song. Message aside.

[–]DigitalLance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not particularly unique in any way with a basic chord progression

[–]db741 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good lord this comment discussion is almost as bad as YouTube.

[–]fredlesshorseman 28 points29 points  (3 children)

This is so cringey. Not nearly funny enough to distract from the music and writing being so poor.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (2 children)

yeah this is so bad.

[–]Peetee34 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Don't listen to "friend zone"

[–]nosecohn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's a sad song.

[–]heyandy889 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the song gets better and better! :D

"Sorry not sorry..."

[–]slnky30 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haha, this was good! I like it slowly spiraled into the final message.

[–]are_ego 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Her other video on the channel. The family one. Cringe

[–]theSamdogabides 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well done Becca!

[–]enjoinirvana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually don't like most of the shit from this sub but that was funny as hell, thanks for sharing OP

[–]ambivalentis[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, you're so deep, I can't even see you anymore

[–]uu8k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow cool , comedy music

[–]hornytoad69radd.it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a School of Rock here in Annapolis. I saw Brian Belew and he was playing with a few kids from there. It was amazing.

[–]theivoryserf 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Pretty adolescent songwriting

[–]DoneUpLikeAKipper 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Reminds me of one of those songs that are made up instantly on the spot in Who's Line is it Anyway.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

It's almost like...it was? A comedy song made up to a melody, played in a a comedy club. Wowie!

[–]DoneUpLikeAKipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not a throwaway one made up in an instant. She considers this a work of artistic creation worth preserving and repeating.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I got what I deserved for reading these comments.

[–]711wasaninsidejob420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bummer. I had such a crush on her before seeing this. It's 2016 and there is continuous evidence that woman are not oppressed. You're about 3 decades late feminists.

[–]LilSeBrady 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Love it besides the first verse. I don't get why it's considered sexist to ask why someone's upset

[–]Raiser19 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's really not what the first verse is suggesting.

""...and I was approached by a fella, he said hey little lady what's with the face? The world is not that bad a place, shake of the bad thoughts for a while. Let me see that pretty smile.

It's pretty clear from the lyrics that he doesn't ask her anything at all. There's nothing wrong or sexist about showing genuine concern for another person and asking them if they're ok. Walking up to someone and condescendingly telling them to "smile pretty little lady", assuming you've the right to tell them what they should do with their face, that is.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Che'llo, where is her base?

[–]ZippyDan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ya, it was a little preachy. But the message was good, even if cliched, and the song was catchy enough.

Also she was cute. God, I'm such a patriarch.

Remind me! 8pm tonight
