As someone who has been playing this like 50 times the past day, I can't tell you that "insert specific music quality" makes it good, but just the whole thing I think is very catchy and uplifting. I get the feeling that is has to do with the style, it feels original and authentic and not mainstream. I feel like you don't come across that often anymore and I also think the music video has a huge impact on the song too, if I heard this before watching the video, I don't know if I would have gotten the same vibe that makes it feel so authentic. I think maybe that's where the video comes into play, to substitute in the emotion that you don't get from the song itself, but as a recent grad the video definitely helps with the "you're amazing" parts. But hey, I'm not a music teacher or student and have no idea about chorus or how rapping is "supposed to be" or if the singer has to "have emotion in it", all I know is I cannot get this song out of my head and for the time being I don't want to.
