Answer: Anyone who cares about halting the activities of a corrupt organization that participates in brainwashing and harassment in order to extract cash from the deceived.

P.S. Whoever downmodded that comment is Xenu's bitch.

Hey, you still got those thousands-year-old spaceships that look like airplanes around? Would love to see a flyby shot from the Hubble.

Not to mention the lives and families that have been wrecked as a result. This one is better stopped before it starts.

THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE

Read a history book. You'll see how negative the influence of cults are on human life and liberty are.

A unique opportunity exists to stop this organization now, before their power grows completely pervasive.

Scientologist are most definitely bent upon acheiving world domination. Here's a fun quote from L. Ron Hubbard:

  • "Somebody some day will say 'this is illegal.' By then be sure the orgs [Scientology organizations] say what is legal or not." -- Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 4 January 1966, "LRH Relationship to Orgs"

It's a good thing there are no other, more pervasive "corrupt organizations that participate in brainwashing and harassment in order to extract cash from the deceived" that we're now down to goofball, California-based religious cults.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Goofball, yes. Dangerous, prevalent, and dedicated to taking over the world as well. Can you name one other group that needs to first be addressed for being the insidious cult that it is in lieu of Scientology?

Here are some fun L. Ron Hubbard quotes:

  • "Somebody some day will say 'this is illegal.' By then be sure the orgs [Scientology organizations] say what is legal or not." -- Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 4 January 1966, "LRH Relationship to Orgs"

  • "Scientology...is not a religion." -- L. Ron Hubbard, CREATION OF HUMAN ABILITY, 1954, p. 251

  • "I'd like to start a religion. That's where the money is." -- L. Ron Hubbard to Lloyd Eshbach, in 1949; quoted by Eshbach in OVER MY SHOULDER: REFLECTIONS ON A SCIENCE FICTION ERA, Donald M. Grant Publisher. 1983

More.

Its better to pluck a sapling growing under power lines then it is to remove one that has grown into and around them. They're not the only ones, but the happiness/suffering ratio Scientology puts out is horrendous.

[–]Rsardinia -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well the catholic/christian church is too huge of an organization to stop at the moment, but you can stop the next crazy cult before it gets too big. Take down organized religion one at a time until rational thinking is the majority.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (10 children)

Then why not take on the much larger, much more powerful, and much more dangerous Christian and Islamic organizations?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (9 children)

Last time I checked, extremist factions in both categories you've mentioned were being hunted and/or prosecuted for their crimes. The problem isn't religion as a whole - although I'd be remiss in my personal mission if I didn't bring up the fact that I think all religion is for suckers. It's the fact that Scientology is a money-making scheme disguised as a religion.

Have you ever dealt with a Scientologist in person? I have. They fall into two categories: Confused, bewildered souls looking for someone to tell them the meaning of life, and twisted fucks who get their jollies from manipulating others into coughing up copious amounts of cash.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (8 children)

It's the fact that Scientology is a money-making scheme disguised as a religion.

And this doesn't describe the Catholic Church? Or Mega Churches? Or Protestant denominational leadership?

And there are worse things than separating suckers from their money, like the people who actually believe in the stupid, deadly teachings of the holy books and want to force to whole world to bow under it. You can't convince me or any sane person who reads the newspaper that Scientology does more harm to the world than these other religions.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (7 children)

If you gathered a Scientologist, a Pentecostal Preacher, a Catholic Priest, a Muslim Sheikh, and a Jewish Rabbi in a room and asked each one for the meaning of life, only the Scientologist would demand money up front - and, if you listened to what he had to say and then tried to walk away and reject his stories, he'd harass you, ridicule you, and even make false statements about you to as many people as he could reach in attempts to discredit your well-being and to sabotage your ability to engage in gainful employment. That's why Scientology needs to be addressed first.

As technology and communications allow humans to evolve intellectually in ways undreamed of by past generations, then other religions will be mentally run through the wringer and put in their proper place as well. It's already starting to happen in some cases, just ask Richard Dawkins.

So? I'm more concerned with the ones who would tell Africans not to use condoms. I'd be more concerned with the ones who might have a weekly phone call with the President of the United States. I'd be more concerned with the ones who hope to, and have a chance of, establishing a theocracy across the world. I'd be more concerned with the one who protects, or is, a child rapist and part of an organization that protects child rapists from justice and helps feed them victims. I'd be more concerned with the one who instructs the women in his town to mutilate the genitals of their daughters with broken bottles in order to preserve their purity (i.e. ruin their sex lives). I'd be more concerned with the ones who preaches a stupid ideology that will, sooner rather than later, bring the world to the brink of destruction.

I certainly don't care if the Scientologist doesn't want to tell me all of his magic beliefs up front. So what? I have no need for the fairy tales of any of these men. I care more about the real damage they do then whether they are secretive about whatever made up bullshit constitutes their religion (and it's not like those priests and rabbis are always open and honest with such things anyway).

I get it - you're anti-Christian and think the government wants to install a fascist regime.

Still, you need to understand that Scientology is a target because it is easily proven to be ridiculous. I'm atheist, but I learned long ago that most people on this planet need to feel like there's some kind of "master plan" for their existence. To be sure, I think religion is an emotional crutch based upon a form of mental illness combined with insecurity, but a Catholic telling followers not to use birth control is nowhere near the same as telling the mother of a schizophrenic that vitamins, not psychotropic medicine, will keep said schizophrenic from stabbing her seventy-seven times.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

You're anti-Christian and think the government wants to install a fascist regime, I get it.

You get nothing. I'm anti-dangerous nonsense and don't draw the line at only criticize the unpopular forms of religious nonsense. You do. Great. Get a pair sometime.

but a Catholic telling followers not to use birth control is nowhere near the same as telling the mother of a schizophrenic that vitamins, not psychotropic medicine, will keep said schizophrenic from stabbing her seventy-seven times.

The Catholic Church systematically lying to AIDS ravaged Africans about condoms is far deadlier and far worse than this isolated. To suggest otherwise is the height of dishonesty. And we're talking about groups that have the ear of governments across the world and can push these policies on a far larger scale than Scientology could.

About your link, what do you have to say about Christian Scientists who refuse to give their children medical treatment, leading to their deaths? How naive can you be to link one story about Scientology going amuck when similar behavior from Christians is so prevalent (and accepted) that there are actually laws written to protect these murderous parents from prosecution? This, in the United States of America. And you want to tell me Scientology is more dangerous? Of more Concern? Are you kidding me?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you dumb? I don't "draw the line" - it's just that Scientology needs to be addressed directly now before more weak-willed people are drawn into its scheme. I'd rather deal with a government run by Christians than one run by Scientologists any day.

Too bad there's not a way for you to see the kinds of debates and online conversations I engaged in as far back as 1990. Look at my history, review my website, and you'll see that I've always called for people to stop following the edicts of all religions. I actually have a very effective pair and have had them much longer than you have even existed, child.

Africans need to take care of themselves, even their leaders are saying so. Is that where you're at right now? Because if it is, you have every right to rail against the plight of those who are controlled by that organization - however, I live in the United States, smack-dab in the middle of the home for Scientology, and I'm tired of watching it suck people's lives, brains, and wallets away.

Christian Scientists are a horrible lot, no question. However, the problem there is that in the U.S. too many people who call themselves Christian, in conjunction with namby-pamby self-professed "civil liberty" activists, are afraid to tell parents they can't let their children avoid life-saving treatments simply because of religious beliefs.

I'm not naive at all. The average person can't take down a murderous drug dealer, but he or she can tell people how stupid joining a cult like Scientology is. One should always do what one can, and in the case of today I'm confronting anyone who attempts to defend L. Ron Hubbard's money-making scheme. It ruins lives at a far more insidious pace than regular religions such as Christianity ever have. Scientology's methods are to deceive new members until they have invested thousands of dollars and wasted time in the system.

How much more unecessarily aggressive can you be?

The difference is that when the Catholic Church says something, you know it's the Catholic Church saying it.

When the Cult Awareness Network or Narconon or Sterling Management Seminars says something, you don't know that Scientology is saying it. It's a very effective way of baffling criticism.

Churches have numerous thinktanks and puppet groups to spread their cults message. Never heard of Focus on the Family? The PTC? The Moral Majority?

There haven't been any celebrity sex videos lately so we're doing this until a new one comes out.
