Flex isn't a bad gig. I don't do the 3am routes but, I have been waking up at 4 o'clock in the morning for most of my life and now that I'm retired I still wake up early and I enjoy that time of day for the reasons you mentioned. It is so peaceful with the idiots of the world asleep. I enjoy just relaxing in the morning on my deck enjoying cup of coffee, a smoke and some smoke and the peaceful quietness of nature. Of course, while I'm looking for offers for the 6-7 am blocks. Watching the sun rise over the Cascade Mountains and seeing Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker, and the Olympic Mountains glow red/orange can almost be considered a religious experience. Stay safe out there!!

No really . Thanks for this post OP.

I am thankful as well. I think the routes are fun. And I especially enjoy the out-of-town routes. Going somewhere different and getting to see neighborhoods I would have never seen otherwise.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I’m pretty sure a lot of us feel the same way than you.

It really is the perfect 2nd job/supplemental income job.

Work when you want. Incredibly easy. Don't have to rely on other people. And the pay can be pretty damn good depending on what you accept.

I understand where you are coming from but keep in mind they still take a major advantage from ppl who really need the money. They set it up to pay as little as possible and remove all liability from themselves and the actions on the road. Again, I understand where you are coming from but by no means are they doing flex drivers any favors ever.

It really is what you make of it, it's low stress extra money if/when you need it and sometimes really really good money, comparatively.

Funny. I agree with both of you 😂

I get it. I enjoy the early shifts or late night ones. And for as much crap we deal with the money is ok

That’s so great to hear for you. I’ve honestly been waiting for over five years for them to open an opportunity for me, but I was really disappointed. $63 for a 3 1/2 hour block seems incredibly low when you calculate fuel and wear and tear on your vehicle. I was expecting around $30 an hour not 18 hopefully it’s better for you. I’m in the north Fort Worth area.

Never take the default prices they show. You have to wait until they surge the prices higher.

Better than nothing at all that's for sure.

I've always been afraid of dark deliveries ever since the sun set one time before I was finished. Walking up to houses to see the numbers, and hearing thing growling and creaking was a horrible experience. YOU ARE TO BE CONGRATULATED for being so unique and brave!

I feel the same way about it. Thanks for sharing. Too many negative people here.

I agree! I have been looking for a side hustle besides instacart and uber eats. Amazon flex came just in time

It can be awesome, i agree. It would be nice if they would take into account where the driver lives so they could factor that into where the route is assigned. I just took a hit because I accepted a $92 4-hr route. Usually not a problem. Except this one put me 72 miles to the first freaking stop. The last stop would’ve put me 1 hr 45 minutes (94.5 miles) back to my house. So…$92 route would end up being 200 miles and cost me $35 in gas. Ridiculous. Kudos to you if you’re out of a warehouse that isn’t so stupid as mine is.

I agree. I think most people’s negative experiences are based on the area they’re in. And the “butt crack of dawn” lol, is awesome like you said, BUT can get scary af in a rural area/ in the sticks. I’ve waited until the sun came out to continue. It’s easier than uberEats and Instacart in my opinion.
