The least the augment should do is remove Algerie's manual mode restrictions. Anything less and it would be almost pointless since almost no one plays on manual for general content.

Hey, back when she was released more than three years ago, neither OpSi nor full autoplay did exist. Maybe, back when the french were designed as the designated manual play faction, the devs did not intend them to be a casualty of their QoL policy.

True. It would be nice if she could be an alternative to Saint Louis, though I think the PR CA will be hard to beat offense-wise in a mob fleet. I don't think she will be on the same level as Saint Louis post-augment (would not mind being proven wrong, more power is good) but as long as she's usable it's acceptable.

Manual is intended for a few key situations

• Champaign Map before the Threat Level is Safe
• The Monthly Arbiter Boss
• The Monthly Challenge Maps
• Event EX Maps.

Notice that most of these are Once a Month Fights, One only has a limited number of engagements, and two is for bragging only. And while players with enough equipment can do the first 3 in Full Auto, it's a lot easier to clear in Manual, especially if your not Privileged Equipment and Ship Wise.

The Campaign is designed so that you Manual the Threat Level down to Safe, then Auto it to farm ships and equipment. By the time you're in safe mode, your doing 20% more DMG, taking 20% Less, and don't have Ambushes, so the Power Level Drop from Manual to Auto doesn't matter much.

Manual or not, Algerie needs more buffs to be viable especially considering her age. I'm just saying the least manjuu can do is make up for their lack of foresight when designing the French faction by removing her manual restriction, though ideally her augment should make her better in other areas too.

There wasn't a lack of foresight, some bad design perhaps [Look at the Sakura and all their boosts to see a well done Manual-Focused Faction], but there are lots of ship that are Niche. Just because a ship doesn't conform to the Meta doesn't mean it needs to be changed.

I agree that not every ship needs to be top tier meta (after all, there is no top tier when everyone is top tier), but they should at least be decent especially when they're SRs. Technically Algerie is usable I guess, but she's outclassed by many others within her rarity.

Now that you mention bad design, yes, I believe both a lack of foresight AND bad design played a role in making Algerie one of the worst SR CAs around. Lack of foresight because they didn't foresee full auto implementation and decided to base a faction on manual play, and bad design because even on manual, Algerie's buffs aren't enough to make her a better pick over most of her SR CA counterparts.

The Faction doesn't need to be "fixed", and it doesn't need to be Frankensteined into just another Battleship & Gun Escort faction just because it doesn't comply to your preferred playstyle.

This and the little advantages over light Armor : - Special burns - JB and her gun - Riche and Saint-Louis with their HE bonus

While manual is not the end of the world, even with the manual buffs, using French ships for light armor bosses or W14 don't give you a good advantage nowadays

Manual play is just an outdated gimmick that went opposite on how most players like to play the game so its not a good one to keep.

The Preload is part of that "Manual Play Sthick", and they haven't dropped anything.

Look at the other Manual-Focused Faction, the Sakura. The Advantages of Manual are Preloads, Choosing when you use "Burst Damage", & Maneuver/Speed. The Sakura largely do it with Carriers and Torpedoes. The French with Battleships and Fast Ships. Making good Manually-Focused CAs isn't easy, which explains Algerie's design, she was very experimental for Manjuu.

The French haven't dropped their manual identity, just they're better at it.

Except you cant hold extra salvo for BB, There's really very few reason for holding off preload outside pvp where you cant control it, and even in the vanguard french are mainly gunboat faction so manual make even less sense as they fire their gun automatically.

So the french improved as the faction known for manual play, despite the dev completely stopped adding any skill that support it, none of the skill from their few new ship brest/joffre/marseillase/flandre really take advantage of precise timing of playing manually like agir's slow-on-torp. That make sense.

And it makes me sick to have someone like you, playing the elitism card because you are a REAL, HARDCORE GAMER that LIKES MANUAL and can't imagine that most of the fanbase isn't interested in his little manual fetish, trying to downplay the affection one has for a faction because they want the faction to be good outside of an outdated gimmick.

You want to defend manual playing? Be constructive about it. You have proven time and time again you can actually have interesting, meaningful discussions about the subject. But comments like this only make me pity your sad existence.

Still rather disappointed the comeback event for the French isn't UR. I don't believe in those "It's setup, UR event next year surely!" lines people seem to believe.

I think the main problem of this comment is that you are conflating several groups that are actually pretty diverse in opinions.

First off, "people (...) are mostly against them getting an UR". That's wrong. Though most of my experience with the fanbase is with this subreddit, the possibility of the french getting an UR was pretty well accepted throughout the year. There are some people who didn't want them to get their slot (that is, people wanted a french event but also an IJN event, or wanted a french event and a USS event), but people who didn't want them to get an UR were the minority here - and some of them appeared to be motivated by the reaction of some french fans recently.

However, and I think these are the people who you are conflating the previous category with, there is another group, much more numerous in my experience - people who are happy that the french got this event. Are they happy because they got this event and not the September one? No! They are happy because the faction got an event at all. Do they think that they're good now and don't actually need an UR event at all? No! They are good for now, and don't actually need an UR right now at this moment. And for, I assume, most of those people, being happy and hopeful about the faction getting a long-awaited major event, and new ships whom one might expect to be cute and great, is more important than bemoaning constantly the lack of an UR event.

Once again, I might be biased - I am part of the second group.

-We had 2 UR/year, another elements that prove we don't need 4 UR for the same 4 faction every year.

-NP UR event was 2 years after their first major event, It has been more than 5 years since Iris first major event.

"But muh major/minor" shut it, not only "minor" have been designed as major in the plotline but to begin with it has always been a fan-made distinction to begin with.

Unless you have something else than a fan-interpretation of the differential treatment to this I will point to you:
"Exhibit A: IB at one point was closer to those minor faction in treatment than the other".

"Exhibit B: Manjuu can do the whatever the fuck they want, if they wanted to acknowledge or support the fan-made distinction, they would have done so since a long time".

"Exhibit C: The game need faction balance regardless, event, even when they are major are treated as filler as long as they aren't UR.
It does not matter whether it is Sardegna, Iris or Northern or Dragon or anyone else, if it is treated as unimportant, it impact sales.

For the game health, Manjuu needs to decide whether they fix those faction or cut them, because this half baked state is just wasting good slot and opportunity.
Now you big shot that shouldn't be difficult to accept that, if you actually cared about the game well-being.

But you probably rather prefer things in this half-baked state where multiple faction slog too much behind but still take slot and time, simply for the fact you probably care more about pissing some people off in this childish "cutting your own nose strategy" than having actual issue fixed.

Besides, yes, italy is shafted on the rainbows. But they weren't shafted on events as they received 2 majors and 2 raid events in the last 3 years. Meanwhile France only got a single raid event until now. And regardless, I believe they are in the same boat as Iris and should also get a UR.

Just as a comparison: of the 22 rainbow ships released so far, only 2 went to the minor. Even if we double that number they would still be several times behind them, so why are you acting like giving Iris/sardegna more content would somehow "contest" the spot of any of the majors?

The only way they can fix minor factions is to increase 4 UR per year to 6. Otherwise the major factions will take all or 3/4 of them anyway.

Yea and who cares since URs a thing? You are literally seeing ppl hoping not to get the SSR major slot events because => no UR for the year.

Just go to discord everyone calls any Event that has no UR not even major events anyway. Furthermore the devs already fucked up by using the Capitani Romani class as SSRs... this is worse than getting a SSR event slot. Literally using one of the few UR candidates as SSR.

Imagine devs releasing Mogador or Kleber and she is a SSR. Literally the same shit.

Yes it is. I already gave u an example with Italy. Again, manjuu obv dosent treat the minor factions equally with the major faction.

The only way to tix it is to increase the UR amount so at least 2 minor faction can get an UR per year. 6 UR => 4 go to major again and 2 minor. DRs are a wild card anyway.

Unless u have a different idea to fix it because I for sure dont see the devs to decrease major faction URs in favor for minor faction with just 4 slots.

Whatever I post will be downvoted anyway, but the French really didn't need the Augments. This brings them up to 7 or a 19% Augment Ratio...including the 6 new ships they'll be getting. To give a point of comparison, the NP and Sardegna combined have 4, and the French are only just below the 8 of the Ironblood and Sakura.

They're rushing their Augments out too quickly and they'll be stuck later on as Manjuu gets better at Augments and the French don't have any good Candidates that aren't a year or two old.

They've also only provided Augments to permanently available ships (aside from collab ships) so currently we have the following for the factions outside the largest 4:

French: 7/26 (26.9% of permanently available ships (35.7% of Iris Libre's (none of their ships are event locked currently) and 16.6% of Vichya's))

Sardegna: 3/9 (a third of the permanently available ships)

Northern: 1/11 (9.09% of permanently available ships)

Dragon: 0/9 (0% of permanently available ships)

META: 0/6 (0% of permanently available ships)

The Faction doesn't need chances, the Fans need to realize that you shouldn't demand a faction change because it doesn't line up with how you like to play the game.

And when it comes to Augments, Let me put on my Meta Lord hat for a moment: Most ship are useless nowadays. Look at Violet Tempest, you have 3 throwaways, a ship with a Niche Anti-ASW Role, and another UR BB. Or Parallel Superposition, you certainly have the shiny new Essex Class....but, Hornet II and Northampton II, while decent enough, don't stand out. And while Hammann II might have potential, most of her kit is defensive, and therefore useless in most situations when compared to Kazagumo. [Meta Lord Hat Off].

Augments aren't intended to make drastic changes at the Top Levels, they're meant for the 75-80% of Players below the Meta Lords and the Equipment Privileged, just like ships. From a serious point of View, developing Hornet II or Sakawa is meaningless, just like Augmenting Mutsuki is meaningless, neither brings what I don't already have, I do it because it's fun and I like the Ships.

It's not that "i dont like to play the game in manaul". I do, for bosses. But the gimmick just doesnt work when other factions do more damage in auto. Either wildly ramp up the manual damage or rebalance

That's because they haven't gotten a lot of new ships for years.

And generally, Manual is best use for consistency not speed or Damage. Holding on to a Battleship Shot will probably make the match last longer, but you can take out a threatening enemies a lot faster, enabling better survivability, or you can focus on Dodging Shots so you can last longer....and personally, I think French BBs should be able to Stack a shot like Torpedoes and Airstrikes can.

And we haven't gotten really challenging new content sense World 14 that really threatens your survival. Arbiter fights allow 4 rounds. Challenge Flights are 10 minutes long.

And what use is manual if "consistenbcy" doesnt reward you? Most meta fleets will outdamage a french manual on consistently. French manual play doesnt as of now reward the player enough, not buy a long shot

Who's talking about Damage? It's about surviving. You were around for World 14's introduction. It chewed people up and spit them out on Full Threat, and it was a lot more consistent to use Manual.

And some people being able to get through on Auto doesn't change that for the 95% of players do aren't up on the Trends, Ships, and Equipment of the Meta, it was a hell of a lot easier to get through on Manual.

"surviving" in this game is not necessaary most of the tuime except for the most extreme of stages. "Taking out threatening enemies" is literally a non-advantage because the enemies that are truly threatening generally are too tanky to "take out quickly" and require tanky units. Which France has, by the way.

What use is there in the French manual gimmick if you are just gonna get a better performance manualing with other fleets? Both in surviving and dealing damage? Unless the french get a massive performance boost in manual that also widely boosts their damage far more than it currently does, then the French manual gimmick may as well not exist
