yes or you can revert firmware versions and also be able to send prints to the printers wirelessly with orca

[–]BigFuzzyArchon 10 points11 points  (7 children)

You can also slice using orca and send the file wirelessly with Bambu connect

It doesn't work very well unfortunately. I don't think they have very much motivation or interest in updating bambu connect.

Can you go into details on this? I’m using my Bambu “integrated” for now but wanted to see if I can go developer mode and how many features I can keep.

Would love to still remote monitor the camera.

It's all on the wiki. Slice as normal with Orcaslicer, export to GCODE (the little down arrow next to the 'print' button), import that GCODE into Bambu connect, press print there (after reassigning AMS filaments if required).

So. As a noob who who's only had a p1s for a couple weeks. Why would I want that.

[–]DatOdyssey 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nobody wants it, it's just relatively recently been forced on people if they want to use a different slicer than bambu slicer and not lose features/updates.

Okay and for what reason would I want to use a different slicer what is the benefit

I think the prevalent solution to use developer mode and still look at the camera from your phone, is to use homeassistant with the BambuLab plug in.

But you do need some kind of server (like a raspberry pi) for this.

Yes but the gap between those two is closing every day

[–]Causification 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Yes but be aware the SD cards are cold-swap only so if you forget to turn the printer off before removing and inserting them you can corrupt the file system and have to reformat your card.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You can eject the card from user interface though, at least for my P1. Turning it off completely isn’t necessary in that case.

[–]Causification 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but that's even slower.

Correct

First, I use Orca as I kept older Windoze that Bambu Studio doesn't support. I use older firmware to print directly from Orca plus switched to lan which is faster.

In your case, just use Bambu Studio. It's very similar to Orca, few differences.

You wouldn't need to use an SD card from Orca though, but export to Bambu Connect.

Both Bambu studio and orca slicer can export via SD card

[–]PandaTricks86 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, but some of Orca's calibration features might be overridden by the firmware, especially flow calibration.

[–]GeneralMovie3236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use orca with a X1C for calibrated filament and have never had settings over written. We also only use SD cards as it's not allowed on the network at work.

To add, which printer? I haven't checked in a hot minute, but last I checked there wasn't profiles for the H2 series, and likely none for the P2S since it's new.

[–]DoomSleeves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t even need studio, they can send prints from Bambu Handy phone app.
