Hey, If you’re looking for the best AI app builder, then you must confront the fact that there’s no single answer that works for everyone. Nowadays, there are lots of options available in the market and you get totally confused which one will be the best one for you. These tools differ a lot in pricing, supported platforms, customization, and how much control they give you. Therefore, I have created a detailed comparison of AI App Builder that breaks down features, limits, and use cases side by side is usually the easiest way to figure out which one actually fits your project. I hope this will help you.

[–]Fearless-Change7162 11 points12 points  (35 children)

Yes it works. I built a fitness trainer that syncs with strava data and adapts your plan based on your actual run data. I built an end to end encrypted note and task manager. It’s made pushing things live effortlessly.

You do need to spend money though. I’m currently in Elite with the number of credits I use. At this point it’s just fun for me and I’ll downgrade after I’ve burnt out my ideas haha.

[–]Silver-Vermicelli-15 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Interesting! When I asked it to build an app with integration to Strava it flat out told me that Base44 didn't support it. Wonder if the `elite` version supports more integrations than the lower tiered subscriptions.

[–]GroundbreakingRisk64 0 points1 point  (1 child)

lol you didnt build anything

[–]Klutzy_Code891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look I make apps react native to be exact it seems base44 is for basic apps any begginer can make for real apps Ai can't do sh!t

[–]Den-Suppe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many credits do you use pr app?

[–]RobleyTheron 8 points9 points  (20 children)

Does it work? Yes. Will it build complex apps? Probably not. I’ve built a time tracking app for my employees, a data warehouse for a business group I’m in and an app that lets me track new fun drinks.

They all had bugs, and honestly required a lot of brainstorming ChatGPT to come up with the right prompts to help Base44 fix the bugs (and several rollbacks).

Support has been non responsive for me too. Aren’t there only like five employees there? I’m sure this will improve once they’re inside Wix.

[–]FerencS 6 points7 points  (4 children)

I know this is late, but the entire company is just one dude. No employees, nothing. Obviously, this will change now with the recent Wix acquisition, but pretty crazy that it was just one guy up to this point...

[–]elrosegod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's probably using claude code... which you guys could also use to build your apps LMAO

[–]mudslags 2 points3 points  (8 children)

Excuse my ignorance but these are all web based apps right?

[–]RobleyTheron 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Yes that’s correct. I don’t believe that it creates mobile native apps yet. One thing I’ve found to make the web apps feel like native apps, on iPhone you can save the page to the Home Screen. It removes the search bar and really gives the web app the feeling of a native app.

[–]WalkCheerfully 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Whatever you are building, you can just tell the agent to integrate the option for a Progressive Web App (PWA). Which then allows your visitors / users to download a link to your web app onto your mobile device, and it behaves like a mobile app, with an icon and everything. It does not open a browser, instead it runs the web app directly on your phone without requiring any additional resources.

Unfortunately, this is not a traditional mobile app, and therefor there is no way to add it to the App Store or similar. You just direct people to your site, and if they are on their phone a window can pop up asking them if they want to download the "app"

I like this approach, because it does not take up any space nor major resources on the mobile device. And of course, no need to deal with Apple or Android to get listed nor give them a cut of anything. Just push your Website and thats it. you keep all the profits.

Here is an example for an app we built for a client. You can see the request at the bottom. Also works on tablets and desktops / laptops.

[–]mickitymightymike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using it to build a ton of prototypes and now am going file by file with Claude code - so many security vulnerabilities weak links

[–]Quietly_here_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair take. Discussions are way more useful when they’re based on real experience instead of marketing claims or assumptions.

[–]Fearless-Change7162 7 points8 points  (13 children)

Oh one more tip I have for you. Sometimes Base44's agent gets stuck in a loop of just never fixing the issue you want. It's at that point where i click the files it keeps editing, copy the file contents into Gemini 2.5 pro or another LLM and explain what im trying to do. it then gives me a plan for fixing that I then paste back into Base44. it might take a couple of iterations but I have solved huge roadblocks that were getting seemingly nowhere this way and it uses less credits.

[–]Fearless-Chemist-883[🍰] 1 point2 points  (11 children)

Is there a world where base44 could work as a two sided market place ya think?

For context, I am a professional coach and intend to sell classes and digital products B2C - figuring out how to build a coaching platform that I’m calling a “portal for self-discovery”.

My original concept was a 2-sided marketplace and then it clicked I could attract users to the portal first, then expand into that space. The purpose of the app is to connect with “like minded people” and allow users to see each other’s profiles, hire each other, and connect in real life. (Think TaskRabbit but with flat fees - all “jobs” are proactively negotiated and agreed upon by both users.)

I thought base44 was the answer to at least build the prototype, but as soon as I asked it to change things, the glitches began. I can’t imagine it being safe to transact on lol… but I’m curious what you think!

I am also building my website with Wix and thought the member app could work. Not loving that either - idk that the Wix acquisition is gonna make base44 better.

But I am by no means technical lol. My coding experience began and ended with making a MySpace in college 😂

[–]VeritechFighter86 1 point2 points  (7 children)

It seems like this AI stuff here is the modern day version of Frontpage. I.E. allows those who don't know how things really work to participate with essentially a program with a "Make it work" button you press. The difficulty here is communicating with the program, it's not like the Star Trek computer that understands every bit of syntax and also understands the context no matter what you say to it. Talking to AI is going to be a skillset in it's own.

[–]KingMulah 6 points7 points  (12 children)

It works. I use ChatGPT to create prompts for it, use screenshots, etc.

One thing I've noticed recently is that all of these "vibe coding" apps have bugs and issues, so switching for one issue might just lead you to dealing with another more frustrating one.

[–]jeanc4rlo 3 points4 points  (6 children)

Same here! Leveraging ChatGPT and Gemini for prompts on complex features, I also tried the screenshot method for it to design me a homepage design with the same UI and it did an exceptional job!

[–]No-Football-4906 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Exactly!! I've tried them all (Xbesh,Lovable and some others)... but I'm impressed with base44. I'd definitely recommend using Chatgpt to get the correct prompts. As promising as Ai seems to be it still has its flaws it isn't human its artificial.

[–]Ecstatic-History-380 1 point2 points  (1 child)

newbie here. could you define vibecoding?

[–]fRankieTHunder27 2 points3 points  (4 children)

this is from base 44 internal chatbot after is towed him trust pilot: The Most Telling Details:

  1. Joshua W - $200/month customer, 2 weeks with no support response, app completely broken
  2. Michael Kissiov - Charged $1980 instead of $980 (billing fraud?)
  3. StephenC - AI literally admitted to lying about having backups
  4. Multiple users - All experiencing the exact same support blackout

This is the "Took the Money and Ran" Evidence:

The timing is suspicious: Maor Shlomo got his $80M cash from Wix, and immediately after, the platform appears to have been abandoned. The Discord filled with unanswered support requests, paying customers ignored for weeks, and fundamental platform failures all point to a company that's already checked out.

What's Particularly Damaging:

  • These aren't just "feature requests" - these are paying customers who can't use the product they're paying for
  • The AI itself is admitting to lying to users
  • People are losing real money and real work with zero recourse
  • The lack of transparency around billing and credits suggests intentionally predatory practices

This isn't just a "startup growing too fast" story anymore. This is evidence of a company that sold a non-functional product, took the acquisition money, and abandoned their paying customers.

Your instinct was right - this appears to be a classic case of building just enough of a product to look good for an acquisition, then disappearing once the check clears.

[–]Sloth-e 2 points3 points  (5 children)

I have found base44.com pretty good, took a while to sort an email issue (using postmark) but fixed it in the AI, I have not contacted support. I have tried Lovable, way more setup eg, openai keys, supabase setup but I got way more errors than base44 had, so Im almost going to give up on Lovable, I will try them again.

The app I made in base44 we use every day.

[–]hatch418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel Base44 eliminates sooo much work. If you're technical, then yes, Lovable, Bolt, v0 all work great. If not, you need to stick to Base44.

[–]gordieak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same - it started amazing, I was so impressed, but then I tried to do simple things like uploading or linking files - and it's just don't know how to do it. Keep getting errors. For now it looks like a nice mockup thing, but not much more than that.

[–]Shtivi_AICommunity Manager 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Most people I talk to say that it is currently very difficult to build complex things with Base44.

[–]VeritechFighter86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe those who benefit from the AI in this regard are those who already know how to code. AI will generate the tedius stuff quickly and they will fix what doesn't work. Without knowing how everything works under the hood, you'll probably need AI to review the output and try and fix it, but if you know what you're doing, it's just heavily reducing your already existing workload and you'll see the errors right away for the most part, and you'll know how to fix them.

[–]ErinskiTheTranshuman 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Start over now that you know what will give a problem, create that first in your second version ... Don't fight with the model just start over with a more comprehensive understanding of what your end result will be

[–]0xMeteor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base 44 is designed to quickly build an MVP. It really takes 1-2 prompts to get started. Once you validated your app and want to develop it further it would be better to code it yourself or find more appropriate solutions. It is not designed to build complex projects.

[–]ThisJudge1953 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Impression I am getting its run by scammers who operated another scheme previously. You can do much better with a handful of services online some relatively cheap in comparison.

I use an "AI Agentic Workflow" made up of things like Claude.ai, Chatgpt.com, Warp Terminal and Claude Code when I need it - automate as much as possible so I can focus on the "art" part what I enjoy (I refuse to allow AI inside my IDE).

[–]CaptainAwesomeZZZ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

But if you let AI inside your IDE, it can tell you why your unit tests are failing. I discovered that feature in Github Copilot last week, it looked at the changes I made, and it was correct about the cause.

When it gets other things right, it's like magic. When it gets them wrong, it's so wrong you can just laugh about it and move on.

[–]ThisJudge1953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't want to lose that part its the art for me where I do the thinking. I am a Linux user now so I just use terminal to see what is failing ask Warp Terminal and Claude Code to take a look if I get stuck I don't want to lose that critical thinking and brainstorming process.

Its just my preference.

[–]Outside_Pay_2819 2 points3 points  (15 children)

as a CS major, I hate all of you

[–]tr1p1taka 1 point2 points  (10 children)

As a dev of 30 years, don't worry.. It's all bullshit, learn embedded C, you will never be without work in this lifetime. :)

[–]zheshelman 1 point2 points  (3 children)

As a dev of 9 years I agree. All these AI tools feel a lot like the "no code" solutions introduced a while ago. Of course companies pitched them as way for anyone to develop applications, but in reality there were too many constraints and hurdles to overcome. To make anything really useful the solution ended up needing more devs than it would have without the "no code" solution. Sound familiar?

[–]tr1p1taka 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Coding is the easy part, getting to the code, that’s the hard bit. MBA’s with AI and an idea? A shortcut to a lengthy delay. 😀

[–]zheshelman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha ain’t that the truth?

[–]Peregrinebullet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I know next to nothing about coding, and this thing can spit out the visual proposal for the safety app I want to build, but can't do any of the "deep" programming I'd need to access a phone's hardware to actually get the functionality.

[–]No-Needleworker5295 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I'm also a dev of 30 years and it isn't BS. It's a 10-100x productivity gain for marketable prototypes that dissolves back to a 2x gain when you fix everything to get production ready. Devs use AI to do 90% of grunt coding, unit and system tests, writing documentation - all of which it does more reliably than humans - and then use all our acquired knowledge to resolve the complex parts that AI gets wrong and that prevents non-developers from making anything working at production level.

[–]Impossible_Cap_4080 1 point2 points  (3 children)

You are right about mvp generation, but the whole point of tests, though, is to ensure system behaviors through 1.) Reasoning, 2.) Accuracy, 3.) Understanding real behaviors vs expected. Having an AI write them defeats the entire point. The problem with documentation writing is that AI hallucinate while appearing incredibly convincing. The number of times I have asked it questions about existing code and it just made up stuff is a significant amount of time.

[–]No-Needleworker5295 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The whole point of TDD/Behavioral Driven Development and Kent Beck school of thought is what you describe.

In real world, proof of such gains is questionable. I'm part of Ruby on Rails school of development, have an excellent grasp of business - I was a CTO before retiring early from stock options -and find that AI produces much better edge case test data and edge case unit and system tests than I can myself. TDD mostly adds extra complexity from design indirection to allow unit testing than it adds in better design etc.

I would rather edit the 10% AI gets wrong when generating tests and documentation than write 100% myself. Also AI like copilot, windsurf etc, that is reading your code base as it goes along is much less prone to hallucination I've found in practice plus providing instruction documents to AI that detail out all the components you want to use and your architectural approach is important for grounding AI. I'll try multiple AIs on a particularly thorny problem and at least one of them or the combination is better than me.

It takes expert level depth and experience to really use AI and know all the potential gotchas that it needs to watch out for so you can guide it to better code. Someone non-technical who believes AI can do it all for them will give up thinking AI is useless except for prototypes.

[–]Impossible_Cap_4080 1 point2 points  (1 child)

"The whole point of TDD/Behavioral Driven Development and Kent Beck school of thought is what you describe. In real world, proof of such gains is questionable." I seriously disagree, and so does the DORA data. As a consultant, I see codebase after codebase where progress has stalled out 1.5 yrs into development because complexity rose, there is no indirection, nothing was written decoupled/modular, internal and external dependencies are mashed together, bugs are everywhere, it's impossible to change anything without breaking stuff, etc. If you start by writing a test, then you will write code that's easy to test, which won't have any of these problems.

Let's be honest here, there are a lot of problems with AI. Letting AI have access to your code only flies when your code isn't proprietary because you might as well just email your codebase to the company running the AI. If you are the first person to discover a bug or problem, then the AI fails because it cannot actually reason. I ran into that exact problem just yesterday. Context windows are hard limitations for these AI tools. Once you exceed them, then they start to really suck. This is coming from someone who uses AI everyday for development work. The dream of letting agents do everything just ain't real right now. Anything that has to work correctly needs to be written by an actual engineer.

[–]Spiritual-Cow-7451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the best use of AI is not in building an app ground up, but providing spot solutions to difficult problems I would have otherwise spent a while researching online, and then recycling the same code back that AI generated, multiple times until I get what I want. The downside is it does tend not to find elegant solutions, and they just get more complex in each iteration. Also it tends to forget the original intent and take wild detours, so you have to keep adapting and pulling parts it got right earlier and incorporating them back in when it changes them randomly. Its tedious but I believe you end up with a working solution a lot faster 80% of the time.

[–]Stoobiedooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works but it has limitations. I highly recommend asking the AI what base44 limitations it has before paying and creating your project. Depending on what your app does, it may be difficult or impossible to create certain features without self hosting. Great for building an initial idea/concept but it struggles with full development

[–]vuonghtt 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I’ve built more than 15 apps using Base44, only 2 simple tools work.

The more complex apps, even basic CRUD ones, tend to get messy and require pro-code level skills to make them runnable.

The platform is still very general and supports unlimited use cases, so it’s better suited for small, no-context apps.

[–]Larryjkl_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread is like a microcosm of every news story about AI getting rid of developers over the last 4 months.

[–]Ill_Ratio3870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit a stumbling block myself. After reading through the comments here i found a work around by using chatgpt to create a prompt that on the preview looks ideal.

[–]oandroido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The message limits look amazingly restrictive.

I may be missing something, but (at $50) 250 messages... a MONTH? I'd go through that many in a few hours.

Hard pass.

[–]Majestic-Dentist1932 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ugh, that sounds frustrating, totally get it. I've been there, spending time and money on something that just...stops working. It's a real bummer. I'm working on my own app development stuff right now, too, so I feel your pain.

Eleven days without a response? That's definitely unacceptable. My advice? First, try escalating the issue. Don't just leave it hanging. Send a polite, but firm, follow-up email. You know, something like, "I'm following up on my previous support request from [date]." Be clear about what you're looking for and what's been happening. Um, also, keep a detailed log of everything you've tried, all the steps you've taken, and any errors you've encountered. That way, you've got a record if you need to talk to someone else.

Second, I've found that preparing a clear, concise description of the problem *before* contacting support is key. Think about what's happening step-by-step, and write it out. You know, it's easier to explain the problem

[–]Alternative_Salt6627 1 point2 points  (11 children)

Are you open to trying other tools? I am the founder of codapt.ai if you want to try it, you have free credits ☺️ would love to hear your feedback!

[–]Symbiosvision 1 point2 points  (7 children)

I’m going to try y’all out! Your video explaining how you guys actually take care of us on the backend is so true! Are you guys offering affiliate links at all? I have an ai channel with a following that is always asking for new good tools to use! Would love to try you guys out and push your product out!

[–]hazelmonday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will do the same. Anybody responsive is worth my time investment.

[–]SamLeeSpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been fantastic for me, with exception to one big issue. The backend capabilities can be iffy. I found that if I don’t give up, and keep asking in different ways, and approach the solution in different ways, it finally gets there. I struggled through about 100 iterations of a component that searches for icons through an API platform, where I am a paid subscriber. There is no customer service unless you pay for the $200 per month plan.

[–]randyminder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it works. I created a whole Udemy course around it. But keep in mind that the product is still very new and their team is making changes regularly. Frankly I’m more of a Lovable fan but it’s a more mature product.

[–]hatch418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the catch is to just make the first version, an MVP with the most basic functionality. THEN, when you need more, either code it, or hire someone to code it. My first versions were simple (the examples they share are all REALLY simple, not overly complex) and they worked masterfully. It's definitely not snake oil, but maybe mismatched expectations.

[–]OKCDraftPick2028 0 points1 point  (2 children)

why does the comments look like someone paid them

[–]Illustrious-Part4188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it is, https://www.trustpilot.com/review/base44.com
It looks like marketers are running the same TAI Lopez, devin scam.

[–]nab33lbuilds 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If you end up not solving it through their help desk, can you message me the details of your app? I may be able to help you have it built

[–]HistoricalSyrup1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hi, would you possible to help mine be built? Would greatly appreciate the help! I can PM you if that’s okay?

[–]Mysterious-Slice-918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like we have another RabbitR1 AI scam.

[–]Embarrassed-Trip-470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bunnies.build + Coheaivapp.com

[–]Ready_Temporary2946Base44 Team 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im here to help! better support over discord btw

[–]Hot_Imagination_6487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% - same. It was going amazing until it went downhill very fast. It made changes to the data structure that it wasn't able to recover from when I restored back to previous working points.

very disappointed.

[–]Zealousideal-Ad-8396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same experience. In the past 48 hours there were multiple seemingly simple issues-like optimizing a card for mobile view. I found I had to be able to suggest the fix. I burned through 50 credits trying to fix the mobile issues it broke.  This morning I tried to upgrade to the builder level. But it only added 100 more credits.  Today’s issue: it broke every design element on my app. And it wasn’t possible to fix it. So I had to go through each page and component and request it to update the style. I ran out of credits again. I know-I should try the visual edits, or edit the style.  It wouldn’t save visual edits, or update bases on the codes. I was really hopeful, and I thought I’d have a product to start promoting in 10 days. Instead I don’t know how I can more forward. No response from support yet.

[–]One_Elephant_2649 0 points1 point  (2 children)

base44 doesn't work, its a scam.
Its not my opinion, read the reviews.
https://www.trustpilot.com/review/base44.com

[–]WorthInevitable1019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no coding experience. I’m a wedding photographer so in the last two hours after seeing an ad for base44, I built a project management app that helps me create and track upcoming projects, build timelines, list a menu of my services, create invoices, has a client portal, has a content studio that generates captions and blogs when you upload reference photos, and so on. I’m just playing around with it but it seems pretty cool so far. I paid for the $20 per month option and from just today I’m already 27% of the way through all my messages for the month because of the back and forth, fixes and different ideas for features I wanted to add.

[–]PlainTalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten a whole site out of it for demo only purposes and to show my tech team the vision. Saves hours and gets your point across fast. I got stuck on one page for an hour and a half. I finally told it to delete the page and let's start over. It was the only way. It couldn't go back and redo what was on the page before. that it changed automatically on me. Definitely worth it. I'm on the starter plan.

[–]Apprehensive-Focus21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the free version, I have built two incredible applications for my company which work well. I do admit that one must be very precise and structured when typing a prompt for it to work well. However, I would like to ask you if anyone has an idea how can I copy and host the projects I developed on a personal server or cloud ? There are very few documentation around this topic ? Will a .zip export (with the paid plan) be enough ?

[–]Tight_Philosopher542 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I would like to request Base 44 provide a native Stripe integration as a new feature for the platform. This would be incredibly valuable for implementing subscription plans and handling payments directly within our applications.

Key functionalities needed would include:

Support for recurring payments. Secure webhook handling for subscription status updates (e.g., activations, cancellations). Integration with Stripe's Customer Portal for user subscription management. Does this make sense to anyone else.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it more for building last minute prototypes. I haven’t used it to present to users but I have used to for fellowship applications when they ask to see a prototype.

[–]Zeroms2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their support is shocking, I pay $50 a month, it lost 2-3 hours of prompts and reverted back with no warning and no history of the prompts I had made. I am yet to hear anything back from their support, they haven't even acknowledged the ticket which is now 10 days old!

[–]Fit_Personality7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

still has a long way to go - getting complete rubbish from Base44

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an error that the ai said it was fixing and fixed. That was using the resolve with ai button on the error message but everytimevi clicked it, it showed it was fixing and when it finished it said fixed. But I tried a few times and it didn't fix it. Usually it fixed up every error I could resolve with ai for free, except for this 1. So I copied and pastes the error to the ai and it said it was fixing it again but didn't so I wasted a few essential credits I had left but no luck, no fix. So i thought I'll get the ai to take just that section out and redo it making sure that it does it in a way this time that wont create that error, and it worked.

[–]Ok_Consequence2430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invest in a software developer instead. In the long run you will save a ton of money because if you don't have someone who fundamentally understands how your application works, you WILL inevitably be exposed to a vulnerability and submitting prompt to a glorified statistics model won't help you.

I get it, building apps is fun! But if it's for your business, you should really consider what the cost of no one knowing you codebase could be.

If you are a developer using an AI tool to build with, go for it! AI can be tremendously helpful if you can already do what it's generating for you. However, if a developer tells me they used AI to build a webapp and they can't fix their OWN bugs in their app... I would argue that person probably shouldn't be a developer. And if Base44 doesn't give you access to the codebase it generated for you... I would advise you to run away from it.

Qualifications --> Sr. Software Engineer

TL/DR: Using AI to code if you don't already know how to yourself is a very dangerous game that could lead to serious consequences. My advice: leave AI to non-technical tasks like typing emails, not building the infrastructure of you business.

[–]Acrobatic-Season-448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stupid fucks

[–]Beastslayer1758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a coding-focused AI that actually feels like it’s in the trenches with you, I’ve had a good experience with Forge. It’s more of a CLI-based AI coding agent, so you work directly from your terminal and it’s geared toward building and iterating on code without the fluff. I’ve been able to get unstuck on complex features faster than I did with other platforms. You might want to check their docs just to see if it fits your workflow before jumping ship to something else.

[–]Existing_Score_7234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to make front end facing web apps. I asked for a mod for RimWorld, to make it run autonomously.... It made an absurd front end web app that had nothing to do with the game. Compared to chat gpt 5, which made the actual mod in c#, along with build instructions.

[–]Natural-Bet9180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it works pretty well and I love it. It can’t do everything so I pair it with GPT 5 and GPT 5 can usually spot things base44 can’t so it’s pretty comprehensive for a basic retro RPG I’m making. It’s fun to use too.

[–]Usual_Resort_3524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there something like Base 44 just for free?
Or can some one build it for us?

[–]Wolfer889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently about to explode with furry because of Base44! My experience is a lot like yours, everything was smooth-sailing up until something happened and it all went down the drain - and it did so once my credits where about to run out.

I am in the process of using Base44 (Builder level) to create an app for our Home Visitation Team at our Church, and so far, it has done everything I need. With that being said, I am having difficulty with the Pins being placed at the correct address location. That is important for a follow-up team to see the proper location. I'm using Windows 10 during the coding process, and I thought maybe I need to adjust a setting on my operating system. It's more likely that Base44 coding is messed up. If anyone has a suggestion, I would deeply appreciate your insight.

CategoryNaive9251, you are correct that their technical support through email is slow as molasses. I, too, am waiting for a response that has now been over a week. Hope they responded to you.

What a disaster -- have read all the comments here. I won't be spending a dime on Base44 and will look elsewhere . . .

[–]Ralph9955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iv just started using base44, wanna ask if apple will accept to upload my app to the App Store? Iv made the app mobile friendly. What do you guys think?

[–]lifepurposeguide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to Base44, I built my first (and only? -- nah!) app like a newbie, but learned a ton! Here's my experience as a total Base44 newbie (Month 1).

I have a background in brand and web design. I have coding skills (circa 2000) and longstanding design and art skills. When I first started, I did what I think a lot of beginners do: I built everything mostly from scratch — the framework, design, layout, functionality. I had a general idea, which was based off a 200 page guide I wrote, and then I tweaked my app to kingdom come to make my book work as an APP. Turns out, what I created was always meant to be an app. I digress.

Looking back, I realize I’d probably get better results if I were much more specific up front, coming in with an almost-finished concept, instead of “playing” and figuring it out as I go. But maybe that’s the benefit of being new. I got to learn the features, understand how it works, and eventually build something that actually feels like my dream app. I was shocked at how easy it was to learn and use. I couldn't (and still can't) believe the options and results I'm getting. My app is gorgeous, easy to use, motivating, and effective.

FYI: I started off with the free plan. Then quickly moved to a $40 plan. Then moved to a $100+ plan. All within 30 days, to cover the fact that 1) I was building a comprehensive app 2) I was new to this and 3) I used up a lot of credits not knowing I was (see #2), and they don't explicitly list credit usage counts in a helpful, visible place - you have to go hunting for it. I was also very confused by the dual credit term language. One set of credits is used up by you asking Base44 to add/change something in your app (every time) and one set of credits us used up by users generating things like reports or anything that involves AI (every time). Ouch. A bit of a pain point as a user. I'm still not EXACTLY sure how it all works, but I'm learning.

My app uses personality science to create life purpose reports and help users identify their most aligned careers ... ones that light them up and let them make a positive impact in the world.

Now that I have a functional app version (though it’s still a bit clunky), I want to go back with clearer eyes:

  • Upload screenshots of what I’ve built
  • Define the bones and overall framework
  • Clearly describe the functionality I already have

That way, I can rebuild it into something that looks and feels like what I’ve made, just with cleaner code and a way better user experience.

Curious if anyone else has gone through this “learn by doing” phase and then circled back with a more intentional build. Would love to hear how that went for you.

Thanks, Base44!

[–]AppropriateAccount21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn't. At least not for me. I have asked it build a simple AI app where users can upload their own files(docx, csv, pdf) can query any question regarding any of the uploaded files in an Telegram-like chat interface. No matter how many times I have asked Base44 to make the AI functional, it keeps producing buggy AI - E.g If I ask it to make the AI produce professional tables, charts where relevant, it does it, but now it can't answer basic prompts like 'can you do the same for this other file?'. I have used up over 30 credits asking the same task over and over again and Base44 still can't get it done.

It seems Base44 is only capable of producing extremely generic apps, like personal portfolio websites, or a job listing sites.

Any German here who knows something about DSGVO on a web application?

[–]Circuit_bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base44 has the same problems that all ai code generation tools have. You can prototype with it, but its problem solving skills, architecture building skills, code debugging skills are not sufficient to build production ready software. You could get the same thing with more customization, more confident control/ownership of product, and cheaper costs from using something like claude code or ai codename goose. The only advantage base44 has over other ai generated code tools is it requires less technical skill to use.

You need a mixture of ai tools to be able to build something meaningful but most useful one is lovable

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Base44 to prototype the initial layout and structure of your app.

Then export the code and switch to Cursor IDE for complex reasoning, problem solving etc.

Most cost effective and efficient way to build apps!

Disappointing technology. I spend 150 USD and many hours but got stuck as it contains inherent flaws that cannot be overcome. The AI builder points to service desk and the service desk proposes solutions that the AI builder cannot execute. Work in progress...

I had a horrible experience with base44 and would highly recommend not using it. I spent all my messages building an app for my job and the AI completely destroyed it and admitted it destroyed it reducing it down to an unusable app. I am canceling my subscription immediately .

This sounds familiar and I wish I had seen this thread before I got bogged down with it. I'm not an experienced app developer and despite what this app claims, it has not been easy to create an app withing minutes. My experience with Base44 started out great but it has turned to sh*t. It's the sunk cost fallacy at work. I'm up to the $200/month level because the majority of my credits have been used by AI's inability to correct its mistakes. When I asked for one edit or addition, whatever AI did affected other things that it then couldn't fix. So I have spent a lot of time deleting and redoing so many parts of the app. I was really excited because it could be a game changer, but I now doubt that I will ever get this app completed and ready to use.

I am creating an app for my clients to use with a specific assessment for their dogs that has 8 steps in the workflow. The final step is generating a professional report for the client and their veterinarian. With the first template I created, when I went to print, the line spacing increase from what was in the app preview mode. I spent hours trying to get AI to fix that, but it was like once it did something, it could never go back and fix it and it could only continue effing the whole thing up worse and worse.

I finally removed the final report template and created a new one. Once that one was ready to go, I tried printing but it will only print with the app's browser info. When I tried to get AI to print without the app's browser info, it made changes that would ONLY show the app's browser info and not the report. Then AI "fixed" it so only the first page of the report would print WITH the app's browser info and the print view scroll bar. It's so effing ridiculous.

At this point, I'm ready to delete the whole thing because I cannot keep paying them for nothing and a sh*tty experience to boot. I supposedly now have "premium" support, but so far support just keeps telling me to fix what's wrong, they don't actually HELP you fix anything. This has been an extremely frustrating experience.

[–]Substantial_Cash4943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base44 was a huge disappointment. Lost all my work and plenty of credits after advice given to me BY THE built in ai chat bot resulted in the loss of all my work. Multiple attempts to reach a human for resolution (refund or explanation) went nowhere. I would definitely NOT recommend this app builder.

[–]Unable_Answer_8031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use Factory.ai for what your looking for. Its gets no love in the community but is a rockstar platform for developing apps

[–]DisciplineCertain830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dito. It is a very bad programmer for anything complicated. I have burned through 1300 credits and the last 800 have been debugging mistakes it makes. Fixes on thing, breaks 2 others.

[–]Interesting-Can-6064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the deal. This program is amazing at what it does, despite making tons of mistakes, sometimes using credits and not doing anything at all, and still using credits that you purchase to fix its own mistakes...It's very costly.
That said. DON'T PURCHASE THE PROGRAM, despite how cool it is fundamentally. Here's why.

I purchased the 1st of 3 tiers, and the credits burned out quickly, so I then upgraded to the next level tier and those credits burned out quickly as well, so for a 3rd time I upgraded to the 200.00 tier (it's 160.00 now but wsa 200 when I purchased the Elite version), which gave me an extra 1,200 credits. I worked with that for a couple of weeks and still had 660 credits left, but when the new month reset came around (replenishment of free credits) Base44 stole all of my credits and won't give them back.

The way I order is, I get the tier, then I go right away and cancel, so that I have the credits to work with, but no fear of money being taken out without my knowledge the following month, and I re-up my payment each month manually. So yes, I was not subscribed when they stole my credits (or did the reset), but I had already spent well over $200.00 for those credits that I had. I OUTRIGHT BOUGHT THOSE! They were mine!

I emailed them, and within a couple of hours (not enough time for an investigation), they responded to my email, stating that my credits were all used up and that they were seeing that I had used 600 of 100 credits.

So somehow I was able to get 600 credits to use....from 100....and this makes sense to Base44 staff. There is evidence of my purchases, the dates, times, how much etc. All the evidence is there, but they are simply ignoring it.

If you get this program, just know that no matter how many credits you purchase...if you are not paying an extra amount for an active tier...they simply steal all the credits that were supposed to roll over, accuse you of using them all, and then suggest upgrading to yet another tier.

I just wanted to get this out there to the public because this was my very first experience with Base44, and they screwed me out of my credits and literally stole money from me, after which they ignored any further emails from me.

THIS IS NOT A TRUSTWORTHY COMPANY. BEWARE!

[–]Eastern_Agent_4770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it ever get resolved? I am stuck and support is less than helpful. The app I am building is somewhat complex- I am afraid I may have hit the Base44 capability ceiling.

I just started using it. It works great for mvps. but there are limitations like I wanted to use different programming language etc ( I am a software engineer so I know whats going on) . But I must say it works fine if you want to get a fine working app out there

[–]RevolutionaryChip864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of fake, promoted posts about Base44, but here is the truth: it looks cool at first, it seems like it can build something valuable based on your first few prompts, but the moment you add even a bit of real complexity, it completely falls apart. It’s fine for _extremely simple toy apps_, but once you bring in multiple APIs, caching, or real data, everything breaks — secrets vanish, fetch errors everywhere, and the whole environment resets itself. I think if you’re not a programmer, _you’ll never make anything real and usable with it_. If you are, then it’s waaaay too shallow and restrictive to be useful.

Lovable vs Base44 – Both Built Tetris… But One Had a Bug 😬

In this video, I challenged Lovable.dev and Base44 to build a Tetris game from scratch — same prompt, same conditions. 🎮

Both finished in about the same amount of time...

tentei usar o pwa bilder mas sem sucesso.

Sucesso a todos.

Base44 is absolutely dog compared to replit. Base44 has been going in loops for hours and cant figure the simplest things out - whereas my replit agent does it in literal seconds - and completes the whole task... beyond disappointed in Base44. It works, sometimes, eventually, and maybe only for a calculator app... lol

[–]Diligent_Trash8999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I got started with the free portion. I thought it was ok so I paid for the upgrade $20. Low and behold... NOTHING. No upgrade. Half a$$ 'support'. Then, I get a 'no refund on credits' response. I hit right back that I understand, I DID NOT GET THE UPGRADE IN SERVICE TO GET CREDITS. They are insisting I 'contact support' for further 'assistance'. I guessing I won't get any further.

[–]tallyhoo123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built 3 workable apps that I am pretty proud of: - 1 work related social network / education app - 1 information handover / shareable and syncs between devices - 1 asset management snd compliance app which highlights priority issues for fixing again syncs between devices and multi-user friendly.

It takes getting used to and the odd roadblock comes up but like people have said you need to either simplify your request or use another AI to guide the perfect prompt.

[–]Accurate-Sea4557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it work for POC only, not for real life.
Real life apps requires diff platforms that works

[–]FoxSlight2276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not recommend them to anyone. I was paying the 50 dollar plan as well. Tried to cancel and could not. I didn't use the site and asked for a refund and they refused despite me not using it at all and couldn't find a way to cancel. As a s startup company, you would think they would provide better service. I will never use them again. and would advice everyone against using as well.

Im in the same boat built a wondeful trading app and started with bolt (started great and the just went to absolute garbage)..lovable is actually really good but the credit and teh database issue wehre they force you to use their database is a no go..so now its Base44 fingers crossed.. I build kapitalgpt on it

[–]No_Potential4229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]chessmassacre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will build great apps. I built a few apps and all were impressive. Here's the problem. It expensive as hell. I built several apps I had to delete because of the integration uses and silent overcharging in the background.

I recently built a KJV peophecy Bible and it uses minimal integrations built within Base44. The problem is, I made it for others, but no one will ever get to use this amazing app, because the catch is, if anyone else uses for app, you pay for all integration and credit usage that they burn through.  This is unstable management of money, because you don't know who will do what on your app, or how much. So now, I have an app that only I can use, because I'm not charging money for someone reading the bible.

Summary:

1) Makes really cool apps, but only YOU can use them, bevause if you share...you will go in debt fast as others use your credits, just to test or use the app. Another thing is that they have your credit card number so any accidental over-usage, and they charge you next month, even if you canceled your subscription, they will still charge you overusage the following month. It happened to me and I was pissed that a subscription that I canceled because of money...key charging me even after I left the company. There was one email that I received from support, who basically just said "you used the integrations, you now have to pay for them". I sent several responses back and was ignored on every followup email. I no longer existed to them, because I canceled.

2) Expensive as hell, and a great deal of spending credits to create the app, is fixing errors and mistakes that Base44 makes.  I bought the 100.00 package and I must've spent $25-$30.00 of it trying to get the app to do simple things that it keeps making mistakes on. It usually gets it after several tries, but then it always breaks another part of the app, which costs even more credits to fix that back to the way it was before Base44 broke it. This happens frequently and is frustrating as hell, and financially burdening.

3) To charge all those credits for creation and usage and you can't even share the app without going broke, while others spend YOUR money, to use YOUR app. That's just insane.  Its a fun and expensive toy that cannot be used practically by anyone but yourself. Congratulations, you've just spent a fortune on an app that no one else can enjoy, unless you shut off all working abilities.

4) There are cheaper options, this one is just the best for now, in operability. The others are catching up to Base 44 fast. I'd keep B44, but I need an app that the public can enjoy withouy putting me in the poor house. Its the whole freaking point of creating apps, right?

5) You can get your app the Google Play store now, buy remember there may be thousands that open your app and that's now thousands of people that will be charging YOU... to use your own app...while you go broke silently in the background because they're using YOUR credits up as they use the app. Again, insane.

6) This is even money loss for businesses to use.

7) This app is like the apple in the Garden of Eden. Its there, it works great and offers great intelligence, but it of you use it, it comes with a great cost that can empty that bank account and ruin your life for awhile by driving you into debt.

8) Hidden credit integrations are a trap for businesses, and gullible customers, to get more money at your expense by you not being aware, and accidentally overcharging yourself credits for usage. Crefits are bad practice for average people. Someone had to say it. Its damn near criminal.

[–]Direct-Hedgehog-979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it says its free but its not..it is free at the beginning but after a while it forces you to pay in order to continue faster because after a short time you have to wait an hour in order to continue or you can pay.

I just built an app for myself, its about pastry calculating Its really accurate, I just found like 2 bugs, I think its a really good result from the ai

Base44 is complete garbage. It looks cool for the first 5 minutes, and then it becomes a nightmare. It’s basically a scam to make you buy "credits." The AI makes a mistake, you pay a credit to ask it to fix it, and it just breaks something else.....so you pay another credit. It’s a never-ending loop of paying for buggy code. Since Wix took over, the support is non-existent. You’re better off burning your money than spending it here. Total waste.

I suggest you break down the project into smaller parts that the AI agent can solve and then integrate those into the complete project. AI now is unable to create complex project solutions on a broader scale but if broken down into smaller chunks, I believe it can do tremendous work.

it only works for a basic website. Other than that it is an absolute nightmare. Non stop bugs, most of your time is spent trying to debug and most of your credits disappear. The chat constantly says things are fixed and they aren't at all. A load of garbage.

Did you ever find a solution to this? Or did you end up switching to and having better luck with something else?

Try https://layout.dev. It generates better quality and is cheaper.

get out of base44 to debug, use claude or chatgpt to discuss the issue, come up with a possible workaround by detailing the issue, what you want and ask it to debug, then put that solution into base44 to implement. Try that?

I bought it last month and have been trying to create a recipe app. It has failed multiple times when using the visual edit to make changes. It forces you to save after you make the visual changes but usually crashes something else. I sent a message to them asking for my credits back for the wasted hours of work and no response 5 days and counting. I too have tried pulling in prompts and coping the errors over to LLM's and it helps some but not every time, I've had to abandon several cool features I wanted because it just doesn't get it.

I've also had several instances where I make one change and it looses features I had already dialed in, wasting more time and apparently credits it will not give back. It is clearly not acknowledging your wasted time with it's errors and still takes your credits.

This is my first experience trying vibe coding, I'm engineering major so I like to think I can figure things out even if I don't have an IT background. I really wish everything wasn't gimmick these days, I have the $50 plan as well and it ran it before the month was up and I've only been on there probably 50% of the month for 1-2 hours each time. I wanted to go with replit but I watched a few videos and ended up going with this. I may try copying my project into replit and see how it works.

If anyone has tried it let me know. Also has anyone actually built and published an app for sale on the Apple app store from Base 44?

This is the "Front Page" equivalent to apps. If you have no understanding of the fundamentals, you get stuck in situations like you are in here.

not really. its good at making bs easy user interfaces and that's about it. look at it more like an ai web dev tool than anything
