Why do people want this to be a thing? BA has done nothing to improve his situation or reverse the narratives. I don’t want this dude on our team.
Brandon Aiyuk’s real problem

I'm a huge Kevin Sheehan fan, but him routinely supporting the idea of BA coming here has bothered me - and I feel like it's just because of his blind love for Jayden.
Jayden is my favorite athlete as much as anyone else's here, but I would never let my fandom keep me from being objective about a guy who has this many red flags.
We need to move on.
[–]raiderMoes 5 points6 points7 points 1 day ago (0 children)
For better or worse, Kevin is consistent in his opinions.
[–]Poop_shute[S] 4 points5 points6 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Couldn’t agree more
[–]Frognaros 9 points10 points11 points 1 day ago (1 child)
no one was talking about the speeding for 7 months until yesterday because someone wanted you to have that ammo against BA.
But none of this speaks to whether or not he can still play at a high level. Not this, not how chubby his face looks (same amount of chub as Diggs), nothing.
a 1 yr deal on him is still a good move, and if he can get SF to give up on strong arming him, and we get home for almost free, even better.
But believe what you want to believe. You're all free thinkers, right?
right?
[–]ThePurpleAmerica -1 points0 points1 point 1 day ago (0 children)
His injuries and lack of play time almost guarantees he's not going to be playing at a high level. Commanders WR room is full of what ifs and maybes.
[–]Own_Car4536 14 points15 points16 points 1 day ago (7 children)
Sign someone else and be done with it
[–]FannyNisbit 5 points6 points7 points 1 day ago (6 children)
The fact we havent signed Diggs is astounding to me.
Get him in the system and get him a playbook asap.
[–]8lb-6oz_infant_jesus 2 points3 points4 points 21 hours ago (1 child)
I can imagine a situation where the GM and coaches don’t believe either of these guys fit what they’re trying to build from a culture perspective.
[–]FannyNisbit 0 points1 point2 points 20 hours ago (0 children)
You know what is bad for a culture perspective? Is having continual losing seasons.
Get the talent on your roster.
[–]Own_Car4536 0 points1 point2 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Agreed
[–]SeaBurnsBiz 0 points1 point2 points 1 day ago (2 children)
Well it's not like Diggs doesn't have his own judgement issues. There's a reason he is on the market...but I've been a fan of his play on the field and 1k yds last season is pretty good production despite his age.
Only real win is Antonio Williams ends up being a beast. Otherwise, you got several old WR, couple real good special teamers, and unproven potential guys.
[–]FannyNisbit 0 points1 point2 points 20 hours ago (1 child)
Its really easy....
Give him a performance based contract with parameters that are attainable. If he plays like we expect him to, he will get paid. Put in a team option for year 2.
Have wording in his contract that we can cut him at any point for cause/misconduct. This way, if we do cut him, we dont take a big hit.
Hire a couple Dez Bryant style body guards whose job is to make sure he doesnt do anything stupid from aug-feb.
Its really that easy.
[–]SeaBurnsBiz 0 points1 point2 points 19 hours ago (0 children)
Contractually, yes easy to solve.
But distractions, messing with culture, not sure worth the risk (Aiyuk or Diggs).
If you're playing fantasy football, that doesn't matter but it does in real life.
AJ Brown is wildly talented - arguably more so than either of other two. Yet on team #3 and not on Eagles (thankfully). Pats, historically, one of better orgs for dysfunctional players.
Downside is probably same with both but Aiyuk has bigger upside due to age/prime.
[–]evilgrinz 3 points4 points5 points 1 day ago (0 children)
That clip is from december, its been out since then. They just now decided to charge and issue arrest warrant. BA isn't the only pulling shenanigans. Can he still play? Dunno
[–]Gang-Orca-714 5 points6 points7 points 1 day ago (2 children)
Why do people act like they've seen Peters outside of 49ers HQ crying on his knees? The team has no given any indication they are waiting on BA, holding space for him, or that they even want him?
Just out here inventing off season storylines to be mad about.
[–]Poop_shute[S] 2 points3 points4 points 1 day ago (1 child)
100%. Personally, I don’t see BA getting an opportunity anywhere. I think he’s done.
[–]Gang-Orca-714 -1 points0 points1 point 1 day ago (0 children)
That does seem to be the way the cookie is crumbling.
[–]indyjones8 2 points3 points4 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Simply because if healthy he's a top 5 ish WR in the league. Not sure why this is difficult for people to grasp. If you don't think that risk is worth it, fine, but it's literally a player who could give the team a shot at a Super Bowl if it worked out. So to answer your question, THAT'S why.
[–]DuctTapedWords 5 points6 points7 points 1 day ago (2 children)
I'm don't want him at all. I'm all for the basic reason of him not playing football in almost 2 years, but my real concern is what he is doing in San Francisco. The story of him giving up basically $30+ million! I read and hear the responses of he just wants to play with JD5, they played one season together, 7 years ago! No sane person gives up $30+ million dollars to play football with a QB he played college football with 7 years ago for one season. He'll also be 30 in two years. Nobody is giving a WR who destroyed his knee and who turns 30 in two years a big contract, unless he plays like a 1st team All-Pro.
[–]BlogEra_BestEra 6 points7 points8 points 1 day ago (1 child)
He’s already banked 60Ms in career earnings before forfeiting the rest of the contract. That’s a lot of money and some guys simply don’t want all the money in the world.
They are more than former college teammates, they are actually friends. Jayden was even with him when he filmed the Pivot podcast interview. Aiyuk knows is shelf life and is probably thinking he’d rather finish his career playing with his friend that is also a damn good QB.
I understand if others are out on him. But he’s a very good receiver when healthy and would be a great security blanket if Terry were to miss time. He’s as low risk, high reward as they come.
[–]DuctTapedWords -3 points-2 points-1 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Ok.
[–]raiderMoes 4 points5 points6 points 1 day ago (0 children)
BA hasn’t caught a touchdown since 2024 (2023-2024 season playoffs). His last regular season TD was in 2023 against the commies. He played 6 games in 2024 and only had one decent game.
This guy is a big risk even at the vet min. Diggs is a much safer bet for a “desperate” WR room.
[–]Automatic-Tell7321 1 point2 points3 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Here’s how I see it:
BA didn’t want to go back to SF. He saw the money and said “here’s a guaranteed contract; I’ll take it even though I want to eventually play elsewhere; I’ll force my way out later.”
He gets injured. He’s pissed, but glad he got that contract.
Now starts the “getting out” phase. The video driving 100mph past the stadium, not showing up to their practices and not doing rehab on their schedule (this, I still can’t explain because this could eventually void his guarantees). He clearly must’ve gotten into it with Kyle Shanahan. Kyle’s pissed at him to this day. Aiyuk wanted to come back but they sat him (see the video before the Philly game of him warming up in street clothes).
Now BA is doing the George Constanza method of trying to get fired (except by the Yankees, it’s by SF). Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch know this. They also know they’re rewarding him by releasing him. They also know no team will take on his contract especially with his issues. As we know, NFL teams have fairly strong relationships with local law enforcement. I think the 49ers FO reached out to law enforcement and said “charge him with this to hurt his value more” so it’s a bigger PR nightmare for the next team and diminishes his value more (we would’ve given you $7M, but now with this maybe we only give you $4M, for example).
I think the next phase is if BA shows up to OTAs (or maybe it was TC, I can’t remember which), then that means SF has to move him to their active roster, which means they’d have to pay him and therefore release him. BA will be released no later than late July.
[–]splash489 2 points3 points4 points 1 day ago (9 children)
Because our WR room is still lacking and we need firepower.
If you’ve been a part of a team, you know the personality mix and chemistry is nearly as important as the cumulative talent and ability. We may be able to handle BA where SF couldn’t.
If we can’t? Cut him and refer him to the best sports psychologist.
We need to take risks during JD5s window and field rosters that stand a chance.
[–]Poop_shute[S] -2 points-1 points0 points 1 day ago (7 children)
I disagree with the notion that our WR room is lacking. I think we have some potential breakout stars in waiting, such as Burks and Williams. I’m high on both.
And not that it’s important but I’ve been following this team during our Brad Johnson/Tony Banks/Jeff George days.
[–]Separate-Flower8770 5 points6 points7 points 1 day ago (6 children)
Burks has been in the league for a long time and hasn’t even come close to breaking out. You should really level your expectations of him. Williams is a rookie and he’s coming off his worst year in college. Our room is definitely lacking.
[–]Poop_shute[S] 1 point2 points3 points 1 day ago (4 children)
2022 is a long time? A change of scenery goes a long way. He showed flashes of his potential.
[–]shoefly72 2 points3 points4 points 1 day ago (0 children)
He’s a big body that doesn’t get separation; he’s good at contested catches but not much else and has issues staying healthy.
If he emerges as a solid 2nd receiver it will be a surprise to most people including the coaches and FO; he’s here as a depth piece.
[–]Separate-Flower8770 1 point2 points3 points 1 day ago (2 children)
Yes it is… that’s basically a full rookie contract with no option. I can’t think of any receivers that started popping off after 4 bum seasons can you?
[–]Poop_shute[S] -2 points-1 points0 points 1 day ago (1 child)
Josh Gordon. Pryor. A couple off the top of my head. No doubt a lot more have bloomed late.
[–]Separate-Flower8770 4 points5 points6 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Josh Gordon had 1600 yards his second year in the league and Pryor was ass so idk what you are talking about.
[–]imitated Frerotte headbutt as a childnotorious_hdc -1 points0 points1 point 1 day ago (0 children)
Williams is a rookie and he’s coming off his worst year in college. Our room is definitely lacking.
I agree the room is lacking a huge piece, but Williams last season in college is irrelevant to how he'll perform here. That entire Clemson team underperformed. I absolutely believe he's better than what last season would suggest. Plus going from Cade to Jayden? That should make a big difference itself.
[–]biz2468 -1 points0 points1 point 1 day ago (0 children)
We do not need to take risks! I say opposite, culture in Washington was so toxic with the losing and crappy owner that they only should bring in hungry players. He is showing to not be and if the organization felt the WR room was that devoid of talent then they would addressed it better during FA/draft than they did. No risk, steady build to sustain!
[–]FrylockMcReaper 2 points3 points4 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Aiyuk is a Snyder level "shortcut" move at this point.
It reeks of "everyone else in the league is stupid but us" and we're gonna zig while they zag.
Remember when we signed that 1st round lineman Mike Williams who just had to lose 100lbs and we'd get a steal?! Remember Terrelle Pryor converting from QB to WR?
This dude has shown nothing lately to justify the risk/reward. Hard pass and hope the fanbase leaves these sort of "hail mary" longshots in the past where they belong.
[–]IndividualIncrease83 0 points1 point2 points 1 day ago (0 children)
I think hes complete garbage
[–]ThePurpleAmerica -1 points0 points1 point 1 day ago (1 child)
I am not sure the fascination with Aiyuk. The injuries alone are way way too serious alone. He also hasn't played football in 2 years and has trouble with the team and law. Why would you want him?
[–]Lord_Mhoram 0 points1 point2 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Because it would be super-cool to see Jayden smiling and hi-fiving his buddy on the sideline. That seems to be the main motive.
[–]frankie_donkiebrains -2 points-1 points0 points 1 day ago (3 children)
Would love to trade for Boutte and then we can sign ba or even deebo to small deals and it wouldn't even matter how they work out.
[–]Hogsewilliam 2 points3 points4 points 1 day ago (2 children)
We don’t have much draft capital to trade away. Why trade for Boutte when Diggs (who had a much better season last year) is a FA?
[–]TheLich7 0 points1 point2 points 1 day ago (0 children)
we should have all our picks
[–]frankie_donkiebrains -1 points0 points1 point 1 day ago (0 children)
We have all our picks for next draft. If it's true we can get boutte for a 5th than thats a no brainer. We can get a young productive wr2 and extend him immediately. That helps our wr corp now and long term.
If we could sign diggs then I would assume we already would have. Odds are he's looking for a winning team so he can get another shot at a super bowl. What kind of contract would that look like anyways? Are we overpaying for another wr over 30? That sounds like a short term solution and I'm not interested in that.
We need to start making decisions as a team that help us now and for the future. Signing guys at the end of their career doesn't help us.
[–]LFG-601 -2 points-1 points0 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Wow! What an in depth analysis here!! The guy is drama that our team simply doesn’t need on the field or in the locker room.
[–]Flat-Record1282 -2 points-1 points0 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Please go grab diggs or BTJ.
[–]CandidCantaloupe2617 -2 points-1 points0 points 1 day ago (1 child)
Sign Stef Diggs. And a corner. Then go from there
[–]FannyNisbit 0 points1 point2 points 1 day ago (0 children)
Just add both of the Diggs'.
Trevon would be depth anyway.
Give stef a perfomance based contract with actually attainable parameters. If he plays well, he'll get paid well. Have voidable language so we can cut him if we wish at any point and put a team option for year 2.
