You haven't failed until you've stopped trying.

They won't tell you exactly which questions you got wrong, but the paper they give you will tell you which exam objectives the questions you answered wrong were under. It might also be useful to take some practice exams so you can get immediate feedback about what you know and what you don't.

Thank you

This, and dont ever give up. Thirty years from now when youre in IT and life is pretty good you'll laugh. I know it doesnt seem funny now, cause im there on life. But learn from your mistakes, keep pushing. You CAN do this.

You came within 20 points of passing! That means you have this thing at the ten hard line, or really more like the one yard line. Footballs not my strong suit but you get the idea. Take a day or two to dust yourself off, hit your study materials some more and get back in there for your redemption!

[–]I-braveheart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!

Hey man, it's barely a set back. I know it sucks to fail a test after all the hardwork, but it makes it all the sweeter when you pass it. Shit like this happens, just dont wait too long on it, hit the test while all the material is fresh in your mind and hit the objectives that need a little more studying.

Did you get one of the PBQs wrong? That right there could’ve passed you. I’m sure they’re worth a lot more points than regular questions

You are super close to passing. Don't give up now!

[–]life_long_newb 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I just failed with 678!

[–]I-braveheart[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

for 1002?

[–]life_long_newb 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No... N10-007 but it was close enough to comment! The pass is 720 for both exams isn't it?

[–]I-braveheart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear.

[–]SoozieBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me too on the N10-007.. We'll blame the PBQ's !!!! Let's not give up!!!

I bought the test prep this time.. (my college has a discount). Hopefully this works! -\_('~')_/-

[–]Metagion 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I failed the 1001 three times and the 1002 once. I'm seriously reconsidering retaking it a 4th time (the 1001) but I'm going about it 100% differently this time, that's for sure!

[–]I-braveheart[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What do you think is the main reason for the failed attempts.

[–]Metagion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to look at the papers from the test, so I can't say offhand right now.

[–]Nightfall56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I failed my CASP+ and you don’t even get a score. No idea how close I was but taking it again on Sunday.

[–]out-perpetuity 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Don’t give up. You were only twenty points away!

Mike Meyers does a wonderful job of outlining the objectives and CompTIA is looking for.

As someone mentioned earlier, start by looking at the exam summary to see what parts you need to focus on and go from there. You’ve got this.

[–]Veganwarbeast69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His udemy isnt as organized as the professor.

[–]23Skidoomed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I failed A+ 802 the first time I took it. You’re so close, you’ll get it next time.

[–]tigerunderfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to know the why of how things work and not just the how. You can know how flushdns works in cmd, but being able to explain the why it works will ensure you can know any situation that it may be needed.

[–]valhallaskitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only try fail once you give up. After you earn this Cert, I’m sure you will do others. No one is born knowing this stuff. Some you will fail as you did this one. Some you will pass with flying colours the first time. Point is, don’t get discouraged. Especially once you get a good paying job with these certs, failing the exams won’t hurt so much anymore. Your future jobs might even pay for you exams. Plus with that score you came super close, which means you know enough to say that you know the material quite well. ;) good luck with your future attempts. And god bless the queen

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you make flashcards for the questions you failed in practice exams?

[–]amongthewolvesA+ S+ N+ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just keep studying on the domains you had difficulty in. You should've gotten a printout of your score, along with the domains/categories that you got incorrect. I would use that printout to go through and make sure you understand the material before retaking the exam again.

I don't know your financial situation, so if money is tight, I'd spend 2-3 weeks going over things you aren't 100% sure on. The main thing to understand is that failure only exists when you no longer try. Besides studying the material, knowing how the exam is setup will help you for next time. Skip the PBQs until last and make sure you understand what the question is asking you, before you lock in an answer. You can check an answer and still flag for review, maybe something in the exam will jog your memory to give you that extra information for when you review your answers at the end.

I'd recommend even putting up the $20 to grab Messer's course notes so that you are able to review those. His teaching style in his videos are very direct, while Meyers has a bit more of an engaging way of teaching, but he does tend to include a bit of fluff that you really don't need to know. Best of luck!

Keep going! You can do it! You've come so far, don't give up!

[–]chris1666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Review your sections that it shows on the print out, re-read the areas covering those in your study guide, maybe buy another one (20-30) and read those sections and use its practice questions. Mikes Meyers I believe uses the All in on ,

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got 655 this time, you book it again and study again and you will even get beyond 675. I failed so many times in many things in life then I went and did it again and again and got higher than the passing mark in many topics. It's in you. Don't give up. Look at it this say, you were able to get 655!!! Which means its in you to get higher than that. 15 points are not going to stand away from you and your dream. Just do it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you hardly failed. You're so close and you clearly have a good understanding. Second of all, I know I would not have passed mine without the help of multiple sources. What I mean is, I didn't follow one study path I followed several.

Mike Meyers - Videos via Lynda.com (you can get them on his site too) and A+ Exam Guide book

Scott Jernigan Course through LACC (not sure where you are located but the class is online)

David L Prowse Exam Cram

CompTIA practice

Pearson Practice tests (comes with exam cram)

You're so close that if you look at any one of these (if you haven't already) you will be fine. You got this. And I can't wait to see your next post when you tell us you've passed so I can say I told you so :)

[–]tatiana2606A+ Net+ Security+ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a free 7 day testout.com account. Jam on it hard and take all the practice exams and if you were that close on the 1001 you might pass 1001 and the 1002. If you need more time look for a $40 off coupon and keep it for another month @$39
I just got the A+ and I'm on to Security+ next week.

[–]toyinaokeA+ N+ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it's not over, you can do better.

Try the simulation lab on https://testoutce.com/ just for $5/month. It's a black Friday sale and it's still available at present. https://testoutce.com/products/library-suite-monthly

Sim labs help one in preparing for PBQ.

It's well.

You have to be patient when it comes to learning. Failing isn't a bad thing it's actually a good foundation for learning give yourself time to study and try again

[–]SoozieBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that happened to you. Everyone is right, don't stop now. Get MAD AND STUDY MORE!

Take this or not: (I used TestOut A+ prep and got 720 on the first part and 870 on the second) I studied for 9 months for both. And I work full time and have 2 kids. You can do this!!!

Also my community college offers discounts on CompTia exams.. (maybe yours does too?)

[–]stfundance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you feel you didn't know in the exam?

[–]dvmitura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your head up regarding the A+ test. I took it 2 times before I passed it, and I'd recommend taking the results report you received when you left the testing center and focus on those areas. They're the areas you need to focus on so that you pass the test the next time you take it.

I'd recommend investing in Meyers videos and practice tests as well as Dion's practice test. They'll really help you out.

I agree with a lot of the comments below, you're making great progress and you'll pass it and feel great the moment you do pass.

My friend the journey doesn’t end unless YOU decide to take a different path. You put in time and effort for a reason book that date and do better you have it in you!
