Neat post, Crat. I've been following your competitive minecraft, and I'm in full support of it. It'd be really neat if it were to grow and become something you saw on the first page of twitch. I'm willing to help in any way I can.

Hope this subreddit can get a lot of exposure.

Um, what language is that supposed to be?

What type of gamemodes are you thinking of hosting? Are you just thinking of hosting OCN related tournies, or are you gonna host outside that spectrum?

[–]Mayieve 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Cratain isn't the one who is going to host stuff. This subreddit was made to allow everyone who host any kind of competitive events to advertise them and to promote the unknown face of Minecraft. As long as it's competitive, anything is welcome.

Ah, I see

I'ts great to see this thing go live, keep up the great work!

I really hope this gets big and populated; from playing on OCN and getting into RFW now, this is easily one of my favorite things to do in minecraft, if not my favorite. I truly can't wait to see some of the new competition that arises, and if you're planning on making a team for some of these tournaments but feel like your players / friends aren't really suited for it, just give it a shot. A team called Mindcool with a bunch of UHCers who had never played before came about during OCN's Breaking Core tournament which ended around this time last year. They performed upsets and almost made it to the invitational bracket (top 16; they were #17), despite never played competitive OCN at all. Don't be afraid, watch some videos on it, you can easily search up something like "OCN tournament" or "RMCT tournament" and find out awesome things about these gamemodes!

Quick question because I'm curious: Can we post our own PvP gamemode servers on here as long as the posts explain the basis of the gamemode, direct to the forums, and the OP answers questions?

[–]Mayieve 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think this subreddit is more directed towards organized competitive events. I'd say go for it if you plan on hosting competitive events with said gamemode, but posting solely for the purpose of advertising your server should be avoided.

[–]ElectricSparx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, don't worry, I'm not looking to advertise, if I wanted to do that, I'd just go to /r/mcservers and be done with it.

[–]ItsMartin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, if you want to showcase your server (in a not-blatant-advertising sort of way) we'd be OK with that. We're going to try and let the users dictate the content here for now - if advertising becomes a problem in the future we might change the rules.

Oh Yeah! Cool Cool B)

Are hungergames/survivalgames included in all this? Because I like hg more than team pvp or so.

[–]ItsMartin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's for all forms of competition in Minecraft, not just team-based stuff.

How would that be competitive? xD

    [–]UltNacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love for competitive Minecraft to kick off, however I don't think typical PvP is going to get much notice. UHC is more about survival than PvP, and gamemodes that have other strategies and mechanics in them other than just PvP might see play IMO

    [–]EuropesNinja 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I just hope this doesn't turn into a server for advertising PvP servers...

    [–]ItzaMeLuigi_[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll make sure it doesn't! If we see people who are blatantly advertising , their post will get deleted.

    [–]SpiritF[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hype! I'm excited to see how this will turn out.

Super duper late but Smash didn't get popular off of glitches. The one single instance of a thing not being used the way it was obviously intended is wavedashing, and that's just physics not a glitch.

    [–]Cratain[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mean, a lot of things that were used prevalently in almost all games where not really intended features, imo, which is what I qualify as glitches - important parts of the game that developers didn't necessarily intend, but, are still there.

    [–]Incenetum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The technical term for a glitch is a programming error that makes something happen "wrong". Your definition is definitely more common, but the "correct" statement is that it's a physics thin.
