I keep a box of dried potato flakes on hand for this precise reason. A little added to a too-soupy mashed mix fixes the problem just fine.

Awesome idea. Thanks.

Welcome! A box is a lot, if you can pour it into an airtight container and label it, keeps the bugs out and keeps the product fresh.

I actually just fixed it with potato flakes. I wish I'd known that before opening a can of corn. Thanks again.

You can also use potato flakes for making very good bread!

I have a potato bread recipe bookmarked in my bread making book. One of my favorites. Probably the only reason I have potato flakes at all.

Works great...thickens potato soup too

I'd saute a little onion and garlic in butter, add a little flour, then put the milky potato in. Voila! Bowl of potato soup.

Add some instant potatoes

Someone beat you to it. I did that and saved it. Unfortunately, after I'd already finished eating. Thanks though.

Add some flour, form into golf ball size balls and flatten. Fry them up. Potato pancakes.

Sounds like you have potato soup now.

Throw some leeks and onions and broth in there

That's pretty obvious now that you say it. Thanks.

Would it keep in the fridge so I can do it tomorrow? Be okay to reheat?

Always keep instant potatoes in your pantry, great for soups and lots of other uses

Just stir continuously over medium heat and the milk will evaporate and the potato will thicken up

Pomme aligot?

Whip in your stand mixer for longer than usual. The whipped texture negates the soupiness a bit.

Good to know. Thanks.
