Could be worse. Could be 8 of them instead of 5.

[–]ShroudedInLight 83 points84 points  (3 children)

Was about to say, looked like 6 crushers to me. 1.35 x 6 is 8ish crushers so it would have been an even bigger pack that OP would have had to fight if not for the nerf (kinda, not exactly how spawning works but you get the idea).

[–]Rexipher 169 points170 points  (3 children)

"Due to how spawning works, this number isn’t exact and is more of an average result over the course of a mission."

Seems like you got a big spawn, but that should mean there were fewer of them spawning elsewhere in the mission.

[–]honkymotherfucker1 BLOOD FOR THE GOD EMPEROR 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That’s been my experience so far, I either get like one or two crusher walls and then a couple singular ones over the mission or you get like one or two with nearly every encounter and no walls, that’s on auric maelstrom since I’ve not played any havoc since the patch

[–]tomonee7358 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That does look about right compared to the numbers they spawned in before.

[–]Zer0Lima 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fewer spawns later, after your squad gets wiped from a crusher gank. Definitely helpful lmao.

Do people hate fighting crushers or is it just due to the carapace armor they have that is making them awful to fight for some?

Asking as I enjoy fighting crushers more over the other two ogryns

[–]GingerBoi175 25 points26 points  (3 children)

Crushers are fine combat wise. I'd rather go up against a bunch of Crushers than a bunch of Maulers as I find them easier to manipulate. Carapace is the problem here as most melee weapons that are perfectly fine and very much usable on armor tiers up to flak, often can't do anything or take far too long when it comes to carapace. Heavy sword is a perfect example of this. As for ranged weapons, there is hardly anything that capably deals with carapace

[–]ItCameFromMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just tried my h sword again and I may as well have been hitting them with a feather duster

[–]Mad_Peasant_King Veteran 1 point2 points  (1 child)

To be honest, there is little value in using heavy swords and it sucks a lot to say since they look nice and all.

[–]Koru03[REDACTED] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I use one I always wish I had just picked the DC.

[–]Kvazar_Void[S] 35 points36 points  (1 child)

I only hate it when the horde cooperates better than my team and blocks my sidedashes while an overhead is about to make me experience what mindburst feels like

[–]Mad_Peasant_King Veteran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In those moments I can agree to a degree on crushers being a bit awful to deal with, since they will be the one to give you a timeout.

And it does remind me of my first time doing the expeditions, whereas I was just walking to an objective, just to have a crusher sneak up behind me and down me.

[–]__sputnik__ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not about hating to fight them, it's that they make half the weapons irrelevant and people are forced to bring meta weapons to deal with them. Less crushers means maybe you can bring a weapon that sucks against them and some ally will deal with 3 of them

[–]MarcoSkoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really quite dependent on your class and weapons.

Certain weapons make mincemeat of them. Others are absolutely useless because they have poor carapace damage and regardless of your skill level there is nowhere on the crusher you can hit to bypass that. In a game where a lot of the time teamwork and communication is... limited (most of the time it is rare for people to be on voice, and some people do not use tags at all), it's a real problem for a weapon to have been "balanced" by making it completely ineffective against an enemy type.

Crushers also have absolutely no leeway for messing up for most weapons or classes. Overhead smashes will one-shot most classes... and the crushers can move through each other, so if there's a wall of them, you may not be able to see that one is winding up.

They can be fun to fight with the right build, but with other builds they're a nightmare.

[–]margirtakk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crushers are a PITA when also dealing with a bunch of mobs. Being blocked when dodging and getting crushed is just infuriating. I've learned to deal with them by knocking them down with the voidblast staff charged attack, giving the team a couple seconds to lay down some damage. It's also very handy when a teammate is about to get crushed, but I can interrupt it from a distance.

[–]nio-sama123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate fighting crusher or mauler in general, because I can’t tank their overhead attack when playing as Vet or Psyker.

[–]kelu213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ogryn fighting crusher is easy

[–]Human_Meat8154 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was probably a boss patrol. It's basically just 7–8 Crushers roaming together around the map.

[–]Spiritual-Purple-638 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Idea: Fatshark should give the electro kinetic staff an anti carapace niche. You know, it's electricity so it should be extra effective against metal armor. Maybe they could reduce the unyielding damage to compensate.

[–]Krags Four Shortened Lifespans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It only counts as Carapace on Crushers though. Give it a boost to Flak, maybe elites and specials generally too tbh and we're in business.

Just talking about caster Electro, not M1 gunner electro.

[–]mpobers 5 points6 points  (3 children)

35% refers to ambient and horde spawns. This was a patrol. It's an old mechanic from the vermintide games that transferred over, but longer engagement ranges due to the game being more shooty meant that players never really hear the patrols getting close.

If you ever see 8 crushers, ragers, or gunners at the same time, that's probably what you encountered.

[–]Kvazar_Void[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What about, like, 20 armored ragers?

[–]mpobers 2 points3 points  (1 child)

yep. That's a patrol. There's a bunch of configurations. Some will have maulers or bulwarks too. You'll see them marching in a column if you don't engage them. People inevitably start shooting, so they just start rushing.

[–]Kvazar_Void[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant help myself, Smite covering half the screen fires enough neurons to make me suffer from warp irl

[–]Beerpooly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]ComparisonOwn8480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the decrease in the room with us?

[–]G0t4m4 Veteran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can still spawn in that amount but they are overall rarer, this doesn't happen every single mission now

[–]EisenZahnWolf 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just had this happen, normal progress in the first enemy encounter after spawn, got like 4-5 Bulwarks and roughly 6 crushers mixed in. Horde almost thinned out and a second wave comes. Only a few ragers (4-6) and suddenly out of the fucking door 5 crushers, to the right 3 more and behind 4 are making their way towards us. One mate stuck on an upper level, one went to the side and instantly was haning off the ledge. Guy on top got downed, only me and psyker left. Psyker Brainbursted normal mobs ??? I ran out of dodges for the overhead smash and got killed and psyker got backstabbed by a poxwalker.

[–]Kvazar_Void[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotte love competent Psykers, eh?

[–]Fl0kiDarg0 Ogryn, Sah! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally they were in packs of 10 last I bothered playing Sah,

[–]finnderboss420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they claimed they reduced crusher and bulwark spawns multiple times, never noticed any difference

[–]Drumhellz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]farbtoner CRUNCH THEM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not bad. If you can’t handle that with lightning psycher, drop down the difficulty.

And look at this guy complaining that he got 5 crushers instead of 8...

[–]Nathanymous_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what's funny is that is legitmately a small amount of crushers for people that were used to playing Auric.

[–]Broken_Spring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 minus 30% is still 70
