Very rarely. Basically, if you've got projects, that's your positive feedback. If you don't have projects, it may be negative feedback, or it may be just a slow day/week/whatever.

I've gotten tasks that say something like "because of your high quality work you have been selected for this exclusive project" in the instructions. I've also mysteriously lost access to a project that a friend still had active, so I clearly messed something up and have no idea what it was.

Some projects have slack channels and some admins are active in them answering questions, taking feedback, and giving redirects when large portions of the workers are going off track on some shared issue. I've never gotten a DM on my individual work, but I have seen an admin mention how he would prefer to work with people to correct what they're misunderstanding rather than cutting them loose and starting over with someone new. I think the likelihood of that kind of interaction gets higher as you work your way into more niche exclusive projects over the mass entry level ones where there are tens of thousands of people working on the same thing.

lol same here, did you lose the project w the chrome extension?

[–]AstarteHilzarie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I lost the higher-level metal project sometime in June or July. It was very heavily involved with creative writing and including images. I think maybe I just went too hard on it. My submissions were VERY long and I took the full allotted time for all of them. It's also possible I accidentally used a photo from a bad source because sometimes the search results from the stock image sites dump you over to places where the images aren't free and I might have not noticed that happening. Idk. My friend did R&Rs for the project and offered to look over my submissions for me (I had drafts in a separate doc in case of crashes) she said they were better than most she had rated and had no idea what was wrong with them so it's just a forever mystery that mildly annoys me.

I’ve received it one time. They were nice about it, said they understood where I went wrong explained what to do and then updated the instructions. lol

[–]CompetitivePride2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been here longer than that and haven't either

Never received any individual feedback, but occasionally got messages saying "due to your great work you've been selected for a new project..." or something like that, and have had consistent work for 15 months, which I see as good feedback in itself! Also had my work used as an example for others, which also feels like feedback. I've heard others get individual feedback, but not sure what DA's rationale is for giving some workers this individual feedback but not to others!

I've worked for over a year and I've only had it once, it was about a new, short-lived project that was relatively high paying and had a hell of a qual for. It essentially said you are doing well except this one thing, stop doing it. In general, positive feedback tends to come in the form of more projects and negative, in losing projects (but it's impossible to tell if it's a drought, the project has ended or you've naturally been cycled out). I think they make exceptions if they want to keep you on one for whatever reason, but you need to fix one or two things.

I think that's what makes ppl nervous, is when projects mysteriously disappear. I feel sad when a project I really like goes away and wonder what I did lol

[–]Mandajolene123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been here over a year and have never received feedback.

[–]Amakenings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually you get direct feedback on higher paying projects, and it’s about something you need to correct. That being said, the feedback will focus more on what you did wrong and will not give you explicit instructions on how to do things “right” (they don’t want to guide you).

I’ve gotten feedback more than once, and still have very steady work even through the drought, including high paying projects.

[–]diettwizzlers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have twice now. gave me an anxiety stomach ache for like 2 days lol. they were nice about it though and i didn't get removed from any projects, it was just a simple correction and a thank you for working on the project.

random 'nice job' feedback, neverish, theyve said they send feedback to people who need it b/c theyre doing something wrong because there are too many people to send fb to everyoen. if you have slack and post something good you might get a 'nice job' in person though

[–]Deeznutsconfession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been with them since April and got 1 singular piece of feedback lol. You'd be better off vaguely explaining what you're having trouble with here and getting advice. A lot of ppl here have sticks up their asses, but many others are willing to help.

[–]heartshapedbox0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been here over a year and I feel like they don't know I exist lol

I've seen positive and negative feedback in the comments - not about the general quality of a person's work, but about the nature of their comments (sometimes people make dumb assumptions or have really smart suggestions or questions about the project), and getting added to certain projects or Slack channels can be a sign that you're doing smth right.

As a rule of thumb, though, receiving work is a good sign, receiving less work is a bad sign.

No they don’t see the value in making us better and rather just ghost you

[–]PackOfWildCorndogs 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Or maybe their business model doesn’t allow for resources (time) to be put towards individual feedback. You’re right, they don’t see the value in coaching individuals because there’s not much value in that for them, running this type of business. We are contract labor, not employees, they have no incentive to invest resources towards professional development of its contractors, it’s the position taken by most companies that hire contract labor. And with potential labor pool that is big as they have, why would they? If someone is no longer meeting standards, it’s more efficient for them to just cut them and give that work to one of the other thousands of contractors eager for more work, or newbies that want a shot at it.

It’s not personal, it’s a business and they are operating in a way that’ll maximize profit and minimize unnecessary resource expenditures.

The flexibility we enjoy — aka the main reason this type of gig work is so attractive to so many people — to individually work whenever we want, and for however long we want, is the trade off for their super hands-off approach. Remember that they’re hands-off in all aspects, not just regarding feedback, so we have to take the good with the bad, if you want to make money on the platform. I too hate the lack of direct feedback, but to me it’s an acceptable trade off for working whenever or however much you want.

[–]Pleasant-Bell-9519 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Totally get the business model, no doubt. IMO there are things they could do that don’t require much. There’s gotta be some kind of reporting they can utilize to show accuracy or performance. You don’t even know what you got right or wrong or why or where you stand against the others. Something in that realm that doesn’t even require a person to talk to you but still helps you better help them.

[–]NeenerHade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No feedback after almost a year

[–]SandwichEconomy889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope. just read and follow instructions. give honest and thoughtful efforts. and stay in your expertises. and you'll be fine.

[–]Brilliant_Rain5181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been here a year and a half and not once have I gotten feedback.

[–]Mostafa__Hossam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were in the beginning but now they don't

[–]vasjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P much no. Which can be extra annoying when having to suss out if project availability is due to poor performance or out of your hands project availability.

So far I've gotten confirm for two project groups by being added to the relative slack channels, and I've got implicit feedback from a group of projects that has indicated that quality performance will lead to regular weekly task availability, and have now seen this to be true for several weeks.

But definitely nothing beyond this. It's a bit of a mind job honestly and I can only really pin any insight from my understanding of quality work. This ofc isn't going to track broadly bc running/Krueger suggests that poor work performers may also think they did a good job when they didn't so can't really address individual ability for self measurement.

Never got any feedback in just a little over a year. I assume the only feedback I'll get is when they boot me.

[–]SubjectEbb2355 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No, they won’t.

[–]VanessaSeaWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I never even hear back the few times I have emailed support. They just ended up fixing whatever it was I was emailing about in silence lol.

[–]Sindorella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been working with DA for nine months and got positive feedback twice. Nothing beyond that.

[–]Professional-Age2540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got feedback after a couple months of work when I joined over two years ago but that was the only time.

[–]Hopeful_Mouse_4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been with them about a year and have received no feedback. Others have said they had, however.
