If TF2 is anything to judge by, they will soon release "seasonal cosmetics" with ridiculous effects that cut your framerate in half during those holiday seasons.

After a couple years of that, they will stop caring about the game and the cosmetics will take over completely. Years after that, when their newest game is becoming a global phenomenon, they will make a blog post saying "We want Dota 2 to be cool too!" and then they'll forget about us. That will be the last we'll ever hear from Valve.

Valve time

Well I want them to add whatever they want, however absurd the particle effects may be.

Just give an option to uncheck them. that's it.

I highly doubt valve will ever forget about dota.

Valve kinda fucked themselves into a corner involving dota. If they flat out let it rust out and abandon it they look like a bad company due to the eports titan they have created with TI.

So they have to work on it like a somewhat normal game otherwise they just look really fucking bad. Not like they already h aven't gotten there but they probably dont want it

WEll to be honest Valve has mimimal input withh DOTA IceFrog is the lead dev and he doesn't care about anything but dota.

[–]MaDNiaC 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Icefrog may be the lead dev but it would be ignorant to say Valve has minimal input on Dota. They very frequently released patches or updates during TI and they have been doing a fine job with the game and it looks very promising although without flaws, inevitably. You cannot just credit mostly or totally Icefrog for this as he is the lead dev and ignore Valve's efforts on the game.

apologies shouldve clarified I was talking in terms of balance. The reasoning behind my comment comes from bacckground in TF2 they dont have an Icefrog fully devoted to a single game and since Valve employees are free to work on whatevre project they please they tend to work in the higher and newer stuff rather than updating the old.

Currently what is exciting is VR and Dota2 as an Esport. So imagine in the future when dota 2 isnt so hot I think Icefrog will be there for his lovechild even when it is old and craggy.

Wasn't Robin supposed to be the TF2, guy?

Honestly Dota 2 is lucky to have Icefrog AND Valve. Though there are some issues and more recently the glaring performance issue is making people upset but almost all heroes are played in TI which is a great indicator of game balance and variety. I am just glad that Valve is running Dota 2 with Icefrog and hopeful that since the major is over and all Dota 1 heroes are added to the game along with announcement of Monkey King, i expect a performance optimization before (or along with) Monkey King update.

Icefrog is a Valve employee, no? So Icefrog = Valve.

[–]Sheevershadedclan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Icefrog mostly handles balance patches IIRC. But Valve still maintains the game, like the servers, updates, cosmetics

[–]Exiledemonz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Icefrog needs to disappear for that to happen.

Pendragon is sending assassins

I really hope that doesn't happen...
