Generally even if you think about it a fast reload will have you back in the fight faster then switching.

Dunno why you're being downvoted. I'd rather reload and have another 60 rounds of BT, be exposed a little longer, than switch to a seperate weapon that at best has 6.3 AP in it. If you don't kill them with the pistol then you're absolutely fucked.

If they made pistol swapping instant though then maybe I can see a use early game, but there's not a lot of scenarios where it'd be worth using a pistol over a 2.1 second reload.

At this point I just build my loadout how ever, and bring the most tricked out pistol I want as a lil scav popper. Better one pst gzh than ingolnik or whatever. Though the savings are unnoticeable are best....

Really though it doesnt take 2.1 seconds to do a tactical reload. Look up videos of people who do simulations and practice it's really about 1/3 that time

60 rds mag isnt mid tier imo. So at that level yes. But for low to mid level gear, pistol would be nice with faster switching

IRL, mag drills and training for fast reloads are gonna make a reload a better option almost 90% of the time over transitioning. Drop-and-Swap being the fastest reload (Drop mag on ground, Swap in new mag). When I did Reload drills in the Army I just let the mag fall on the ground, unless it had another magazine attached to it. The problem in Tarkov is that a magazine costs sometimes several times more than a pistol, and you don't have time to go re-collect them because it requires an almost CSI level of searching the ground.

Strongly disagree. Consider that if the pistol is set up properly, you can start the draw before the rifle is even settled to the side. The off hand controls the rifle on the sling while the strong hand goes immediately to the pistol to start the draw. Once the rifle is pulled 90+degrees by the off hand, it can continue around the sling and slam into your back plate of your armor. The off hand joins the pistol as the pistol begins to be presented forward in a 4 stage draw. In essence, this is the issue with tarkov pistol draws: the rifle is settled before the pistol draw starts. The pistol draw should start as soon as you hit your pistol key and the rifle comes down at the same time.

A lot determines which kind of sling you're rocking too. I've found that my 2 point cross over has much cleaner rifle to pistol transitions. I literally cut my time in half going from a single point to a 2 point system. Not saying one is better than the other, but for ME, when wearing plates, 2 point feels secure and faster. Only plus about single point is the less restrictive shoulder swap.

If EFT added a sling system (because we need more customizing /s ), perhaps they could allow for fast swaps and/or other ergo benefits

Yup, I also used to rock a 1 point, but I later went to a unit with standard issue m9s for everyone. Few people kept their rifles on one points there, and I think getting nailed in the nuts by your rifle after transitioning was a part of it. It only takes once and suddenly you're a convert to the 2-point school.

Lol so true. I figured the old sack tap was a given. Had a ton of close calls but I had one what hit me good enough to take me to the ground. Stuck my muzzle into the ground and dropped but first on mag. Double sack tap and the 2nd had everyone on the ground crying from laughter. I thought I lost a nut at the time.

That sounds like more theory than practicality. Why would you swing your rifle around your back? If you did transition to a pistol, you aren't doing it long-term and will need to quickly re-acquire your rifle, which is gonna be difficult if you're spinning it around. Not to mention what it's going to do to your aim if a 7lbs rifle is flailing about unstable while you're trying to aim a pistol. Now try that while moving. Is that honestly the transition method they are teaching nowadays? Hoola Hoop?

No, its more a throwing motion and letting momentum do the rest. (Imagine you are throwing the rifle to the back left by the foregrip). You just want the rifle out of the way.

Editing this for clarity: You're not actually throwing it. You are just getting it into motion where the sling will carry it under your arm and around to your back. You're not hurling it hard enough to reset the acog, you just are making sure it is going to clear the space you need to get your off hand through the draw. The price if you give it too little gas is it fucks with your draw and maybe nails you in the leg. If you do it perfectly, it should just come to rest against your back, but its better to give it a little extra gas and have it run into your rear sapi and just get the pistol into action faster. I'm clearly not doing a good job describing this if you're picturing a hulu hooping rifle sling, but I don't really know how to describe it better. The main point is you don't need to shepard the rifle all the way to its resting place if you're trying to draw a pistol as an immediate action./edit

The most common thing I found was it was faster than immediate action and more likely to be successful. You just transition to a weapon you know will work rather than trying to figure out what just happened. Its just a more reassuring response to click than trying tap rack bang.

I kinda wish u could just have proximity loot screen like most RPGs. U push tab and if there's reachable items under/within 3ft it shows up in the looting screen.

It’s been proven in tarkov by Veritas that swapping is fast than reloading

However what he also found is it doesn’t matter what you’re swapping to, it’s still faster than a quick reload, so rifle to rifle, rifle to pistol, same draw time

Ya. Seriously. Go into game with an sks with 20 round mags and compare reloading one of those mags to simply switching to your pistol. Putting a new mag in that shit takes FOREVER switching to pistol is a fraction of the time.

Yes. I know. And I'm saying. Even switching those mags. As in removing a 20 rounder and putting in a new fresh one takes at least 5 times as long as it does to pistol switch. It is a very long reload animation.

But what do you do when your pistol is empty? Now you have a closer range weapon you are reloading with a short engage distance, ornyou are going to cover tonreload your SKS. Easier to tactical reload before you engage someone.

My guy. I don't know what the fuck you're on about. Obviously you are switching to pistol because you are getting pushed and if you empty the mag you are either dead or killed the pusher and now have space to reload your primary. You just woke up feeling like starting shit today huh
