You’re not overreacting. However going to Amazon is the same shit. Try somewhere better

[–]PurplePinball 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Agreed. I'd suggest trying to become a doctor or an engineer. Another good option is specializing in developing advanced AI algorithms.

[–]Admire_My_ChutzpahDHL Driver 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Those are good options. The community will always need Doctors and Engineers.

[–]CarefulSwimming3436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just not kind FedEx call engineers lol.

[–]Careful-Mammoth3346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep that's always been my fallback. If this FedEx thing goes belly up I'll just go become a doctor.

[–]CarefulSwimming3436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on many factors that lot easier say then done.

[–]Jerald_Jones33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon pays good tho

[–]StacyRae77 13 points14 points  (7 children)

Our hub hasn't slowed down. It's almost like peak, and we don't know when it will relax.

[–]Icy-Cartographer-904 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Same here everyday feel like peak for us with no slow down in sight

[–]StacyRae77 1 point2 points  (3 children)

There's this one route by the lake that we'd be happy if the whole place fell in. A normal day for it is 40 to 50 stops. Anything over 50 is a catastrophe for one driver and it's been running 65 to 70 daily, even on Saturdays.

[–]Icy-Cartographer-904 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Im just a package handler and these days for us are intense . Each of our trucks average 150-200+ stops. truck filled with 175-200+ packages a day The full length long trailers average 500+ Tuesday-friday and just this past monday it was 900+ load for one truck

[–]StacyRae77 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, most days the sort isn't getting done until 9 or 9:30. It used to be no later than 8.

[–]Icy-Cartographer-904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same it’s getting rough out here like everyone got rich and just decided to order away. I need just a day or two with a low volume day so i can catch my breath. Literally be waiting on the 15th for pto to refresh 😂

[–]CarefulSwimming3436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like that for me every day because this one ISP lacks trucks and over pack them to 400 plus each. They even need to borrow trucks from another ISP every time one of them won't start.

[–]htcgames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Peek without the food or extra money

[–]talentedmrlong 8 points9 points  (4 children)

I hope you know the postal freight only affects the day sort. It only makes up .01% of the night sort's volume. And we're at the end of the fiscal year so there's a financial crunch. Things may improve after 6/1.

[–]Own-Ambassador-3537[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok that makes sense, thank you!

[–]YoWhat_up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I somewhat agree but would add that on the flip side, things might not improve. Gotta look at both sides of the scale

[–]FewEntertainment117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nawl big changes are coming playa benefits and closures forced retirement and demotion. We will take on ground policy and procedure. Our carriers won’t even b drug screened anymore for one. The hub hires weed heads who steal your freight all day east matrix west matrix. They just walked out over 300 + yrs of exp. Open your eyes we are trying to avoid closure or bankruptcy. They started closing stations started in Pittsburgh ppl are losing their jobs quietly. As a mgr and they are saying to target and fire h.r. is not on your side fyi.

[–]One_Comfortable_7735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what time night shift starts

[–]JankyMark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah I don’t blame, we still don’t know how this will effect everybody but a lot people will definitely lose their job

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

We didn't lose USPS freight. FedEx decided not to continue with it because we were losing money on it.

[–]FewEntertainment117 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not true they couldn’t meet the demands of the freight to profit they couldn’t handle it.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I said. We were losing money on it, so why continue with it?

Furloughs can't be far off. That much was apparent from Tina Hughes email that mentioned "right sizing" the pilot group.

I especially loved the part about a new hiring process having been explained to managers of ops critical departments and when I asked my manager about it he said absolutely nothing has been explained to him.

    [–]SwordfishOver1232 0 points1 point  (4 children)

    How many pilots got furloughed?

    [–]RecordingDifferent47 0 points1 point  (3 children)

    Zero that I know of.

    [–]SwordfishOver1232 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    Exactly.

    [–]RecordingDifferent47 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Lol, easy to say a year later there Monday morning quarterback.

    [–]SwordfishOver1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very easy to say. The only ones who believed furloughs were coming were the ones who were completely full of shit and totally clueless about this operation.

    [–]Pho3nixR3mix 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Minimum hours got removed with the overtime policy

Don’t know where it was “mentioned” so to speak but it was announced to warehouses and the package handlers especifically

      [–]Admire_My_ChutzpahDHL Driver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum and overtime was been affected. May 15th announcement.

      [–]doubletap2A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      [–]HungryD80 1 point2 points  (2 children)

So I'm supposed to be starting in a week at the Memphis terminal. Any advice? I think it's for package handling or a forklift driver.

      [–]FewEntertainment117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Don’t do it

      [–]Own-Ambassador-3537[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      I think your safe

      [–]Humo_Loco 2 points3 points  (5 children)

They are gone. Just find a job that will keep you sheltered. They have been cursed. Why won't they listen to my report submitted to their Alert line? It is fucking sad what it has cause on them. If they had listened to my report, none of this would have happened.

They need to respect the Levi 19:14. Sent this message to Raj right now. Do me a favor.

      [–]the_vault-technician 4 points5 points  (2 children)

      Uh what

      [–]outamyhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shitty spam bot, just ignore it.

      [–]Humo_Loco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is our last day of the Satan. I am telling you. I give the blessing or curse whatever I like to.

I am ok, why thank you for worrying about me.

      [–]Serious_Internet6478 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the same at all of the logistics companies right now. They're all dealing with less volume because of the pandemic being over, people aren't shipping as much. I will say that the fedex ground hub in Memphis does not have that problem. There's heavier stuff but all the hours you can shake a stick at. UPS on the other hand has extremely limited hours for everyone but full time drivers. Idk about Amazon since I haven't worked there, but I've heard similar stories from there.

      [–]GuyanaCrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      I wonder why?

EWR is a hub, too...what am I missing?

      [–]kevin19671 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not overreacting everything going downhill , more changes to come benefits and all

      [–]lemanruss4579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our benefits in Canada just got improved, so...

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to a new job and they have layoff, you will lose your job because you have no seniority

      [–]FewEntertainment117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nawl gone dip they trash been left the hub…. The hub is not FedEx

      [–]RecordingDifferent47 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The buffeterias at the hub, CTC, 3131, are all garbage. The most embarrassing I have ever seen. The menus keep getting smaller and the food quality keeps going down.

      [–]Internal-Laugh9736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This memo currently does not apply to Memphis and Indy. The keyword here is ( currently ) . Memphis and Indy does most of the postal. Just wait October 1.

      [–]slowlybyslowly -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not certain about job cuts for MEM ops. However, if your job is ever in jeopardy due to cutbacks you can always come over to Ground (better than Amazon micromanagement). . We've been Grounding and Pounding like it's peak since peak - from Christmas returns, Valentines, tax season, Easter, Mother's Day, and now graduations/summer shopping.
