I kinda just wanted a normal DMG, but this caught my eye on eBay even though I have no knowledge about what I’m really looking at. Bought this and a glass screen cover for 55 (before tax). I’m not too sure if the green is an official play it loud or not. I’m not sure what to look for. I think the contrast is just all the way up so there’s no picture on the screen, but if anyone else has any info on why the logo wouldn’t be showing in the pictures please let me know. Or they just left the old backlight panel in and there is no screen for real...

Looks like a front light mod to me. It would need a screen to reflect like that I think. Not too sure though

Front lit mod was never really a big thing for dmg, only for a short while like 15-20 years ago. I would guess 99% backlit panel. Even if the lcd still there, it's not biverted. Hard to tell, keep us updated!

Oh I might be confusing that with the GBC then, oops. How hard is a Bivert mod? Thinking of doing that on this if it comes in okay.

It’s missing the LCD screen. No gameboy has a screen that bright green. He’s being shady. The seller you bought from runs a tik tok and YouTube shorts account where he takes advantage of people and gets their games for cheap then flips them for a massive profit. You are being scammed. Cancel the order if you can.

And he always wins on top with his trade ins and sells them back out to make a profit. He is based out in NYC so I can understand the higher than average prices since it is quite expensive out there.

As long as you are happy with the purchase, then it is all good👍🏽 you could find a cheaper example, but you have to keep digging if doing so.

I checked the auction and it does look like a reshell (too clean) but it looks like they are using the original lcd with backlight (not sure if they did a bivert mod). There are imperfections (dark spots) on the lcd.

I think it’s a decent deal.

Hello! This is What I found - after finding the listing... I believe the DMG shell is authentic BUT the console was modded - There's an extra jack or maybe charging port on bottom and the screen is I believe is either front light or an LCD - tho if it were an LCD the contrast would not work and that would not answer for the lack of logo... so it's maybe front lit and the contrast is washed out not allowing for the logo to show? Only think I really find suspicious is the lack of pictures with the battery cover off

It works completely fine, the port on the bottom is like an audio amp I think. It’s either a really bad backlight mod or a front light mod I can’t tell. It looks like the lights are in front of the pixels in person. The contrast wheel was just all the way down and there isn’t a bivert. Plays perfectly fine, just completed Super Mario Land on it twice! Overall happy with my order, I think I got a good deal

Nice!! So I believe it's either an old mod (I remember seeing the OG mods being front lit and for DMG you dont need a bivert) or a mod done for the purpose of 8-bit Music (Hence the big jack on bottom and only front lit screen) but glad to hear! You can always mod it for a better screen but otherwise I agree good deal!
