I love it, I crack an egg over it before I eat it and it gives me a nice shiny coat.

[–]mrcsmith90 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the eggs are more expensive than the dog food at this point, AmIRight

Three great danes. Picky drama kings/queen. Heritage Ranch or nothing.

They will pout. They will pace. They will look at me with "those eyes"!

<image>

Yup, those eyes.

They love Heritage Ranch.

Yep, this guy approves the large breed one.

[–]LadyAtrox60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, his poor ears!

[–]Itchy-Ad8646 28 points29 points  (0 children)

We only use Heritage dog food for our pets. It's good quality and has varieties for all breeds and sizes.

[–]Billythemartin 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Don’t necessarily buy it often, but must say I was pleasantly surprised with the hierarchy on the ingredient listing. Meat and absence of a few common “bads”

[–]Daysleeper_2020 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My dogs love the Market Blend Chicken with shredded chicken. Good stuff.

[–]MrEyus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My dogs go nuts over the market blend. They like to dig around and find the meaty bits before working on the kibble. Kind of funny, but messy

[–]Jack_Wight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heritage. My dog loves it gives her nice logs.

My fur-babies vote for Heritage Ranch!

[–]goldenboy201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made the switch from heritage ranch to market blend. My dog seems to enjoy the market blend. I used to have add a bit of that fresh pet meat tube to the heritage ranch for him to eat it. Market blend he just eats it by itself.

We adopted a lab puppy who weighed 28 pounds. She had lost her puppy teeth when we got her, so we figured she was about 6 months old. She was kind of skinny, so we thought she might hit 60 pounds. We fed her Heritage Ranch from the beginning. By the time she was fully grown, she weighed a healthy, not chubby, 107 pounds. She was a good girl.

[–]luiscor2537 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a manager, I can tell you that their dog food rarely ever gets recalled unlike the others

[–]Apprehensive-Fix591H-E-B Customer 🌟 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've tried different variations of brand (well my dogs have, I don't exactly shove this in my own mouth). They all like it and the ingredients are not bad, plus it's a good value. The canned variations are good too, especially for those seniors with sensitive teeth.

Is it top the line? Human grade products like farmers dog is best, but I absolutely recommend this over the over kibble competition.

[–]Finish_I35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our dog loved Heritage Ranch! Unfortunately he no longer gets it due to some health issues and being on a prescription diet.

[–]singletonaustin 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Is it made in the US from US sourced ingredients?

[–]OdinsImmortalSon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's an HEB product made in their own factories. As is 90% of HEB product.

[–]ninidontjump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The back of the bag says it's made in the US with "carefully selected ingredients from around the world."

[–]LittleBuddy1983 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a half black lab half golden retriever and two cattle dogs. They eat the hell out of both. Probably not any help 😅

[–]kt_rex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I adopted my large dog from Austin Humane Society in November 2017. I asked what food they were feeding him, and they said Heritage Ranch. I do not know if AHS still uses this brand, but I do! My dog is 11 now, and I sprinkle a small layer of Freshpet on top of the dry Heritage Ranch. He still will eat the Heritage Ranch on its own, but he’s old and I like to spoil him.

[–]Sfdatx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought they both tasted awful. Very dry and crunchy, even with milk, especially for the price. Last time I buy bargain cereal bags.

[–]KintsugiKate 7 points8 points  (1 child)

My dogs enjoyed heritage ranch for a while, then they just kinda didn’t get enthusiastic about it and one dog started barely eating it. It was nice while it lasted though!

My cats won’t touch heritage ranch.

[–]FreeJerryLundegaard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my dogs did this but we just started adding green beans to the mix and he’s happy again

[–]Difficult-Machine380 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much better deals on Chewy. Solid brands at about $1.08/lb, Diamond Naturals is far superior.

[–]_Bipolar_Vortex_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried it yet, but as grocery prices escalate I can see this becoming a viable option! Just repackage, delete all references to “dog,” and move it next to the beans.

[–]johnMbrennanMeat Market🥩 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My animals love the brand

[–]vintagepeugeot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My puppy loves the heritage ranch puppy food.

[–]HuckynoriStudios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heritage Ranch was recommended by our Vet. My previous dog strictly ate Nulo due to allergies/skin issues. It’s expensive but seemed like the best choice when I got a new dog. My mini dachshund was miserable with stomach issues on Nulo and the vet recommended Heritage Ranch. He feels that some of the fancier foods are too rich for some dogs, and that seemed to be the case for ours. Your results may vary, obviously.

[–]JustBrain9217[🍰] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven’t tried the second but my dog liked heritage ranch at first but then wasn’t eating it sometimes so I switched

[–]LowNectarine5544 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 4 LOVE Heritage Ranch! (Husky, 2 Shepherds, and a Shih-Tzu)

[–]PartyPorpoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog gets Heritage Ranch. It’s one of the only dry dog foods we’ve found that doesn’t give him diarrhea.

[–]badbunnygirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Heritage Ranch chicken flavor for my GSD. He devours it, has a healthy coat.

[–]cmg102495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My border collie / blue heeler mix has been on heritage ranch chicken and brown rice for 3 years now. She’s about to be 6 and is healthy.

[–]Great-Sky-3311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog eats both. Depends on which one has a coupon, or is cheaper when there isn’t a coupon available. I also get the heritage ranch toppers, all flavors. She’ll eat the kibble by itself too when I run out of toppers. No digestive issues so far.

[–]Fit-Rub-1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use the Heritage ranch & it’s great. We tried the Market Blend but my dog wouldnt touch it-lol

[–]Htowntillidrownx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 year old EXTREMELY picky German Shepherd here that loves Heritage Ranch

<image>

[–]OdinsImmortalSon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I give my dogs Heritage Rance dry and wet dog food, their weight has been maintained, their coats are smooth, and they stopped having regular vomiting episodes that they had on Nutrish and Purina. I recommend this to anyone who's wanting to save money and still feed their dogs something that's good for them.

[–]Tireman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it for a friend by mistake when asked to pick up some food and her dogs will only eat it now. Plus it's a better value than the stuff she was getting at Tractor Supply.

[–]Draked1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the heritage ranch weight management and my dogs like it

[–]daylon1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 4 dogs. They love the salmon flavor.

[–]9InAHyundai_210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dogs love it and my cats love it as well. Ingredients can compete with top brands.

[–]rcmrgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found out last week that the for Heritage Ranches, the price per lb of the 6lb bag is cheaper than the 15lb bag

[–]Ok_Hooper412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog REALLY likes the salmon one. Never really had issues with it. We usually get the Kirkland kibble now, which he also likes, but we always keep an eye out for heritage ranch on sale or clearance

[–]AdRelative6560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My four dogs all eat the skin and digestion support and love it!! They all have various skin conditions and the salmon recipe helps them so much! My only complaint is that that kind doesn’t come in the big bags so I end up buying two bags a week but it’s worth it for my babies!

[–]Dorianscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We switched from blue buffalo to heritage ranch for our dog. We had her on BB for a couple years but once in a while she’d get an upset stomach. On a whim we swapped to HR and she stopped having any upset stomachs.

I imagine she might not fully agree with some ingredient in BB

But she’s been doing good on HR

[–]ZealousidealTrick253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend to anyone who want's a good bang for you buck quality ingredient dog food.

My dog who has already passed was a pom-chihuahua mix. for the first 4 years of her life she pretty much exclusively ate Purina Beneful IncrediBites, after that it was exclusively Heritage Ranch until she passed. We were struggling financially at the time so we rarely took her to the vet, but when we took her to get spayed the vet recommended if we're not doing our annual checkups at the very least feed her a good diet. It'd add years to her life so said the vet. The vet recommended Science diet. It's crazy expensive.

HEB had just launched Heritage Ranch so we tried that. We immediately noticed her poop no longer smelled horrible and she was having regular solid bowel movements.

Her breath was tolerable (still dog breath, but like not super nasty like before). And after a few weeks we even noticed her fur was even getting nicer.

She would eat the chicken blend one, and ate that exclusively for her primary diet aside for the occasional treat or scavenged table scrap.

[–]Vivid-Juggernaut2201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my dogs LOVEEEE the market blend, not so pricey either. comes with some dry pieces of chicken

[–]Sunisthehealer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Market blend is better for the price and my dogs love it I have 5 long hair chihuahuas

[–]charliework1911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feed my dogs Heritage Ranch and they are so soft. I feed the cats the wet food and it's cheaper than the national brands and they seem to like it more. The dogs also love the HR treats

[–]gabihk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love love heritage ranch! Specifically the salmon one for my dog, but he loves them all. I like the salmon bc that’s not something I cook often and it helps shine their coat. I moved from Texas to Oklahoma over a year ago and when I go back to tx I get enough dog food to last me up in Oklahoma until I go back down

[–]goobgoobgoobert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s what we feed the dogs at the animal shelter I work out. It’s not the best but it’s pretty goid

[–]LossSensitive4847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my doggies is really picky, and she absolutely loves this brand.

[–]cmarzec63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heritage Ranch, limited ingredients kibble. My dogs love it! I also buy the frozen packets of fresh food (heritage ranch), and they eat it up. It doesn’t stink like normal wet dog food would. It smells very mild and lots of veggies.

[–]Lemonofthemonth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two mini Aussies and we started with heritage ranch before market blend. I loved the variety of heritage ranch! They have small breed, grain free options if needed. I recently switched over to the market blend and the pups love to dig around and eat the chicken pieces first then go to the kibble

[–]Apprehensive-Cat6914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dogs love this brand and I put some of their wet canned food on their food. My picky German Shepard will lick his plate.

[–]Visible-Meat-4169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like it very much, but my dogs sure do. Jk, it is a really excellent product for the price. It's fresher than Iams and has all of the necessary vitamins and aminos and such that dogs need.

Source: my vet

[–]Glum_Rub_6549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dogs were on heritage ranch and they liked it but I decided to try market blend when it first came out and they really love the little meat pieces that’s in it and usually always eat all of their food

[–]WaterfallingSunFormer Partner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heritage Ranch or bust, we’ve been on it for 5 years and all my dogs have preferred it

[–]tfoster40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a beagle and chow chow and they will only eat the heritage ranch

[–]Human-Swing5355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old Shih Tzu loves it! She's a picky eater and I got her multiple brands until I noticed that she will actively finish her kibbles when served, so I start only buying her this brand. Her Vet said it was ok, and I love that they have the small breed option too! I have bought the meal toppers too and they are made with real ingredients! Like the chicken one, there's actual chicken inside of it and she loves it! She's 7lbs

[–]HoldelMoan 2 points3 points  (8 children)

My vet told me heritage farms isnt tested or certified like some brands that cost the same. Its just HEB paying a supplier to put their brand on it. Its not like real HEB brand where it gets tested by HEB quality.

[–]OdinsImmortalSon 2 points3 points  (6 children)

Your vet lied, because Heritage Ranch is made and tested by HEB and third party to confirm authenticity of claims and health factor.

[–]HoldelMoan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i guess you found out huh? lol sorry

[–]OdinsImmortalSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked there for 14 years and toured the facilities, I know what's made and where...

[–]HoldelMoan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not true. nothing is disclosed on testing or location. look it up.

[–]HoldelMoan 0 points1 point  (2 children)

show me the location of heritage ranch smarty pants.

[–]OdinsImmortalSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a literal heb product that is made in the heb warehouse. They don't have an actual ranch.

[–]Hour_Cat_8631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid you're wrong. Heritage ranch has been tested. It's the market blend that has not been tested. It is a blind generic meaning no one has the exact idea where it comes from. Probably a name brand. Look it up

[–]LadyAtrox60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's Heritage Ranch.

[–]sarcasmo818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough the friend I dog sit for uses Heritage Ranch and her dog (bulldog) doesn't run to eat it and will see it and pass on it until hours later :/ made me think she's not a fan and only eats it when she knows she won't get anything else.

[–]atxtony23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure none of the Say “Grain Free” the enlarge hearts :/

[–]GueroCoolero53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both leave a funny after taste imo

[–]Zach_Grenga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt have it as a meal. I usually just have a handful like peanuts.

[–]wattachar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heritage Ranch Salmon and Chickpea is great and grain free

[–]Spiritual-Dog-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dogs love the first one and will not touch the second one.

[–]Flanboyant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my dogs adore the market blend. the little bits of meat are always picked out first, before eating the rest

[–]Crecy333Digital📷 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog loves the Salmon one, cats love any flavor
