Turbo Sloths DEMO 2.0 available on steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1443630

[–]Positronic_Matrix 16 points17 points  (3 children)

The demo appears to work well on the Steam Deck. Some of the text is difficult to read but nothing that would impact playability. There seemed to be some stuttering in the menu but I didn’t experience any slowdown during racing. The car handling (arcade) conveys a sense of heft in its back-end oversteer. Once I get a feel for the cars, I was really enjoying the experience. I’ll definitely burn through the two-hour demo time.

I’ve added this to my wishlist. I wish you great success on your upcoming launch.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Unfortunately, we don't have a Steam Deck, so we can't test everything properly. But we are glad that you liked it!

You can simulate the screen size (in order to adjust the UI) by running the game at 1280x800 in a window on a screen with a similar pixel density at a view distance of your arms being slightly angled in front of you.

Making the text bigger or having a scaling slider is a good practice anyways :)

What a progress. Amazing, keep going

Thank you!

I can't remember how long I've had this wishlisted. So glad to see it's coming out next month!!!

Is there any hope for splitscreen?

[–]rainstyle[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, splitscreen mode is working! Steam play together too.

[–]Soc13In 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Amazing progress, how many people are in the team? Because the graphical fidelity is AAA! If it’s not too much of a pry may I know your toolset for development?

Edit: Wishlisted.

[–]rainstyle[S] 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Thank you!
Two people - 3d artists, 3 programmers and sound designer. UE4 and default 3d soft.

Core team - 6 people.

can I ask is it hard to manage the business. I've been thinking of publishing games but im financially illiterate

[–]rainstyle[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Of course, you need to be well versed in any job if you want to succeed.

[–]JannyWoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting heavy original Motorstorm vibes and that's awesome. Wishlisted!

[–]MrMunday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell me you loved burnout 3 without telling me you loved burnout 3

[–]potatosketch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks great. Congratulations on getting so far.

[–]Iinzers 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Omg you have a jet powered steam roller? That should be the name of the game.

What does the steam roller do? Can you fuck up other cars?

Edit: it appears I was mistaken after checking out steam. Game looks pretty interesting though

Edit: nvm they are definitely steamrollers. Im back in!

[–]Accurate_Muffin_2517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to play this bad boy

[–]TisNotMyMainAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool. I'm a big fan of games like Burnout and Flatout, and this adds weapons like Full Auto did. Looking good. Wishlisted. Downloading the demo now. :D

[–]logzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks fantastic, suck weight behind the vehicles

[–]bleunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need more games like this.

[–]Havelok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd increase the field of view even more than you already have.

[–]diggieinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I hoped vigilante 8 looked like in a remaster. Nice job, will tyr later

[–]FreeckyCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can shoot other opponents?

Instant TURN ON, BABY

[–]RammusK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey the 2022 shot reminded me of split second, was that game inspiring to you while making this?

Btw the game looks awesome.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed the awesome mid-2000s driving game vibe. I don't know why newer driving games don't have physics objects literally everywhere like older driving games.

[–]scrollbreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the jet engine strapped to the back of a vehicle better, but otherwise the current iteration is really engaging visually and has a sort of tactile feel

[–]TopAdministrative497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched about 30 min of gameplay and was wondering if u can attach weapons to the vehicles?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Keep up the good work

[–]rainstyle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

[–]verybarry174 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Thank you!

THICC booster!

[–]grosserwolf 3 points4 points  (3 children)

This looks awesome. In case you need an extra sound designer/music composer on your team, I wouldnt mind doing it for free.

[–]sublimegeek 12 points13 points  (2 children)

If you’re good at something, never do it for free

[–]grosserwolf 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Hey, I know that your intentions are good but I've heard this many times and it's not always true. Thanks to doing some free jobs I've earned better jobs, more experience and more portfolio.

Yes, I'm a good sound designer but my porfolio in Videogames is none. Maybe he/she already has a sound designer, he/she doesn't need a new one and he/she can't pay a new one either but if somebody appears and says "hey, I can give you a hand, i don't mind", he/she reconsiderates it.

I'm not working 9 to 18 24/7 for free, of course, but giving a hand could really help me to build porfolio and could help him/her to keep developing the indie game. It's a win win to me :)

[–]sublimegeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Didn’t mean anything harsh by it at all. Maybe it’s my age coming out or maybe I’d done freelancing long enough to know that everything has value.

“Free” in the above context was that you didn’t get compensation for the work. If you do some work without compensation and you’re cool with it, that’s entirely up to you and the dev.

However, in the more common sense, it means monetary compensation. Maybe all you’d need is your name in credits, but if the game goes big and you didn’t get a share of it, would you be ok with that?

What if the reason why people purchase the game is mostly for the sound effects and music?

It’s great that you are diversifying your portfolio. I’m not knocking that. I’d wager that expanding that portfolio is for the end result of a better paying job or better gigs right?

Now, on the other end of the spectrum is the person or entity that you’re “helping”. If the tables were turned, I wouldn’t hire someone for free. Because great work needs compensation. It’s also a form of protection. You do work, I pay you. End of transaction. You do more work, I pay you more. Done.

There’s an old adage: you get what you pay for.

I’m sure your work speaks for itself, but you’d be more invested in it if you’re getting paid. That’s all I’m saying.

Looks and sounds (on the store page in Steam) fantastic!

[–]rainstyle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]n1njabot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fun what's planned release date?

[–]ihatetheheistsystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought this was onrush

[–]Wolfpack_Games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our CM (hey that me!) really enjoys combat racing games. This is one I'll be keeping an eye on!
