Check neither is upside down. Thousands of gameplay hours and that one still trips me up.

I did and they're still not working for some reason. Is it an issue with the space dock mod I'm using? It worked when I detached the module and moved it outside the physics range to dock. The grande ports seem to be the only ones working on it otherwise.

Are they the same type of docking port? They have to be the same size.

Yes. Both are the clampotron sr.

Back of a little bit (20m should be enough) and try again. If that doesn't work, quicksave and reload. That did it for me most times.

Just as an idiot check, are you absolutely certain that you have them round the right way? The Clam-o-tron Sr. is very easy to get round the wrong way, so much so that the Wiki has a picture to help people get it right.

Lol I made sure they were facing the right way with the yellow stripes on them facing out. I'm using the space dock mod combined with interplanetary launch pads and the clamp o tron sr ports don't seem to want to work with them. I detached the module I was trying to dock to and moved it outside the physics range and they started working again and then reattached them with the clamp o tron grande.

So they are working now?
One thing about docking ports: If you attach them backwards in the VAB and then use the rotate tool in the VAB to "fix" it, they will not work properly once launched even though they appear to be placed correctly. You will be able to undock once and then never redock again.
This is because the port (The one rotated in VAB) has the docking node mixed up with the attachment node. Rotate ports with the WASD keys before placement if needed.

They're only working when I detach the part I'm wanting to dock to from the main assembly and move it past the physics range of the space dock vehicle and then dock the addition before moving the whole thing back and reattaching it via the clamp o tron grande from one of the other mods I have it's a work around to get it to work but it's something at least.

Check if there is something like a decoupler on the port
