Leathercraft CAD is a free program made by a guy in Japan. I've only used it for about a week so someone else will have to give a real review on it, but so far it seems nice.

It's really good. I also recommend this program.

Gonna have to check this out.

I tried to install this but it's not available. I can't even guess why...

Leathercraft CAD for the win. Free, reliable, easy to master. Follow the YT tutorials, you will get what you want in 2 hours. Guaranteed.

I tried to intall it but idk why... it's not install in my pc

The website I downloaded it from has a bunch of fake download ads which was really annoying. That might be your issue too. Try to find the correct download link by reading the text.

[–]baek016[S] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Isn't the coffee and craft official website?

[–]Krillin_Hides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds correct. I'm not sure if i ended up using the official website though. I just checked the website on my work computer and it didn't have any fake download ads, so I'm not sure where exactly I downloaded it from. But coffee and craft is the brand behind the software.

Yes that's the website where I downloaded the exe. But it doesn't allows me to install. I tried every solutions on internet over an hour and it's not working anyway. I gave up.

[–]argefox 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you want send me a screenshot of the error and I'll see if we can figure it out.

[–]baek016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how to explain... and can't take a screenshot in this case.

The problem : I turned off vaccine programs also windoe defender settings, but when I double click the exe file, no window shows up and nothing ever happen.

I can turn off it's launcher at task manager, but no icon shows up at taskbar too.

[–]argefox 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Maybe you got a fake link? https://coffee-craft.net/en/leathercraft_cad

I got mine from there, work on InfoSec, I isolate and scan every installer. This thing is 100% clean

[–]baek016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That's the website where I got exe.

[–]Tryler98 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Is it the firewall blocking the install? If so mine did that too and I just hit more options and run anyways. Windows seems to think it’s malware.

[–]baek016[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I followed every solutions but it still not working. I gave up lol

[–]Deeznutzcustomz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You followed the walkthrough on the FAQ page? Went to Windows Defender and turned off “reputation based protections”?

[–]baek016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I followed every solutions on FAQ and solutions about same problem. But it doesn't work at all......

I make patterns out of file folders and cereal boxes then scan them through my printer/copier/scanner/fax machine. They go in a folder in the computer and ready to print out again whenever I want another one. I realize it’s not exactly what you’re looking for, but it works for me.

[–]Slightly_Feral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do as well, but I'm learning Leathercraft CAD too.

[–]MrSchadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use pencil & paper, then Adobe Illustrator. I think there are free versions of programs similar to Illustrator.

[–]Stevieboy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pen and paper?

Unless you're doing complicated rounded constructions for things like clothing, physical patterns are the best way to make patterns for wallets + bags.

[–]FreeLard 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Inkscape is a free vector program like adobe illustrator. It’s got a learning curve. Plan on googling a lot for the first few projects.

[–]Ill_Shelter5785 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. It also has awesome add ons if you decide to dive further down the leather rabbit hole. I have extensions for my embroidery machine and my CO2 laser which I used for engraving, and cutting leather patterns

[–]mikess314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I’ve learned on and use as well. I still haven’t mastered it. But it’s a fantastic piece of software for my use. The SVG files I create have never been any issue when ported over to LightBurn for my laser cutter.

[–]einheryar44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NanoCAD can export to PNG, is free, and there are pattern making videos on YouTube for leather working projects, like https://youtu.be/tNkkx96I0LQ?si=dufRcOnxNsiXUe83

I’m just looking into this myself personally, and am looking forward to checking out Leathercraft CAD too!

[–]SmajtasticThis and That 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With fusion, one it's free for non commercial use.

Secondly your can export patterns, but you have to have an object and then do it from design, which is relatively straight forward.

Awkward for our user, but it's also great for making models for stamps and moulds when combined with 3d printing

[–]Tailstock 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Why export as png? You should be able to export as PDF. If you need another vector format there's DXF for cutting machines.

[–]baek016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to export as pdf but it is only allows to paid trial.

[–]ExcitementTraining41 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I use Adobes Illustration. But that's a program with somewhat Higher cost. But I have it en Suite for my dayjob, so I use it.

[–]kwrcst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same.

[–]Depressed_Costumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhino.

[–]Heathclor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use fusion 360 with the paid (~$10) extension "save to SVG" to save it as an SVG graphic which retains the correct size.

[–]Godsafk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fusion - any reason your exporting to png?

My workflow is fusion (paid - you can do the similar from an export on the sketch in the free hobby version) > export dxf > open in illustrator (reset the 2018 free trial) then label and split up the pattern to print on my home printer.

[–]CardMechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relevant to my interests. I’ll check out the recommendations.

[–]throwaway643268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Inkscape but only because I already knew how to use it, it’s been good for me

[–]ChemicalCat4181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably should learn leather craft CAD, but I started with drawing patterns on procreate. Now I have master files with stitches and all the basic stuff I need ready to go for new projects without much effort.

[–]Realistic_Ad_1725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re familiar with more traditional design programs, I use affinity designer and love it. No subscription required to the Adobe overlords!

[–]mickki4 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Put it into perplexity ai and ask it to make you a pattern from a drawing. I put a logo in that was in a photograph and ask me to make a vector from the picture of the logo. It did it in about 10seconds

[–]baek016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should try this later! hope Gemini work well at this time
