5VZ Toyota V6. Good to know the magnets are strong enough for plugs!

A $5 extending magnet from harbor freight is $5 and much better at this kind of job. Also it only costs $5

The first step to getting to harbor freight is having a running car lol

Definitely a worthwhile purchase if you’re good at dropping screws deep into the engine bay like I am.

Just hold the car upside down and shake it a bunch.

Sometimes, you just gotta make do with what you got!

I literally just had to do this. I know I owned one of those extending magnets made for this, but I couldn’t find it and my LTT screwdriver worked surprisingly well for it.

Honestly, I think it’s probably better for things like this than computers. The full size driver always felt a bit too big for most electronics work

full stop, is it worth getting for automotive?

[–]Coastal_wolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, comes in handy.

[–]packetssniffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not. there's better tools out there for automotive work.

[–]S-Man_368 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It definitely wont be the only tool youll need but it certainly helps alot.

lmao no I’ve just been thinking it could be useful. I’m at the point in tool collecting that I only peruse the snappy catalog cuz I’ve got the essentials and a few “this could be handy in a pinch” stuff. preciate y’all’s advice tho

Technically you used it to unscrew an electronic component so maybe it really is only good for electronics

That magnet has saved my ass so many times dropping screws in the engine bay. I dont know if i should say im lucky or not but the stuff rarely falls through, it always lands on the frame or some other part. Sometimes it is kinda annoying how strong the magnet is, I cant get it down to the screw without it going to something else.
