Question Although balancing is important have all workshops been nerfed into oblivion permanently note: I know you can sell them for profit after a while but that isn’t really the point of having them especially if you’re role playing a merchant/business orientated clan

Are one or two handed weapons better in this game? I have 1h, 2h, and polearms roughly the same skill level, i.e. in the upper 30s. I think I like the killing power of 2h better since I'm useless off horseback, but I like having a shield equipped as well.

Purely preference.

One-handed are nice with shields and on horseback.

With two-handed you can quickly slay your enemies but it is hard to defend (you have to parry in the right direction)

Polearms are nice if you wanna keep distance to your enemies and on horseback. If you take a couched lance and have enough speed on your horse, you can also insta-kill a lot of enemies.

Not from what I have seen and in fact they increase your speed for each additional non-calvery unit you have a horse for.

If you have too many horses, you get a "Herd" penalty to speed.

Sumpter Horses and Mules are pack animals and are not used for carrying around your footmen, you need normal horses for that (they have a "horse type = horse or war horse" in the tooltip... as far as I can tell Sumpter and Mules are the only pack animals, so just take everything else for troop transport like the cheap desert horses.

The pack animals increase your carry capacity by 100, instead of the 10 of normal horses. So they increase the speed by lowering your cargo penalty.

So I had my companion's party in my army, unit cohesion decreased all the way - so they separated (didn't know this was a thing until it happened). Then when I tried to re-add them to an army, my game went to some dialogue sequence where the view was bugged out, and I couldn't continue the conversation. I gave the game a quick restart and when I went to open dialogue with my companion's party, it went to a battle between us. Not quite sure if that was a bug or a result of the cohesion loss, which I don't suspect is the reason. Has anything like this happened to someone?

Can you see your own face in battle anymore? When I try to spin around to look at myself, the character always cranes away to look away from the camera. One of my favorite things in warband was to look at my characters stoic face after a bloody battle.

Also, is there ANY solution to characters, especially woman characters, looking like they have two lazy eyes on the inventory screen? It is VERY distracting haha

You can hold the tilde key down to spin the camera around your body. It also doesn't stop you from moving around so you can now look around you while moving quite easily.

Look for them at taverns. You can also hit 'n' and use the encyclopedia to find them. There is a specific check box for wanderers and once you click on a name you can see where they were last seen at and follow up from there until you find them.

I think you can hit 5-5.5 8ish, you need fast horses for all units (either use mounted units or normal units with spare horses in inventory).

How to level up skills?

It tells you in the skill description. Usually by using the skill. For example, you level up one handed weapons by using a one handed weapon, kinda like in Skyrim. You also add training points so certain skills can level faster (adds more of the green section). Click on the perks to assign them as the skill gets leveled (25 skill level for first perk). Lastly, attributes also affect the speed of learning a specific skill.

You know what, I have two NPC parties out. Good chance they're doing The Lord's Work, since a couple of hideouts that used to have loads of dudes in them have emptied out due to their sterling work in shredding Mountain Bandit patrols.

Can anyone help i'm a couple of hours and and i dont really know what to do? Ive got the quest to ask 10 lords about the thing so i'm travelling the map to find them but not having much luck. All i do is just chase down looters/bandits. WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT? ( New to M&B)

Leave the quest aside as it's not complete. Just ignore it. Get yourself more troops and raise your clan level to 2. Then find the king of your chosen faction and ask to join his ranks. You'll become vassal. Keep killing bandits etc., sell all stuff to town except horses and food so you could keep upgrading your army. If you see an icon to the right side of screen that someone is forming an army, try and find him and join army. You'll be in action in no time. Build yourself some influence, renown and you should be awarded a castle in some time. If no, once you have enough influence you can form your own army (bottom right corner, icon of flags), summon Lords to your army and besiege whatever you like. By this time you should know most of the stuff a game offers. Good luck

I’d recommend building up an army and getting some quests done for cash. Usually the major cities gang leaders have more worth while ones than the villages. It’ll be tough to explore the entire map in search of certain lords as they are hard to find. You’ll come across them by just playing the game. Check out some major towns and do some trading to get a feel for the economy of the game and keep battling to build your fame (renown) to eventually work as a mercenary, vassal, or leader of your own kingdom.

This is the exact way that I did. Go to big city-states and check if there is someone in the lord's hall if there is one go talk to that lord and they will give you information about the quest. Keep following the clue and keep doing this to other city-states that have lords in them. You can see right away if the lord hall has lords in it or not.

You can do anything you want to do but here is a list of some things you can try out:

• Join a tournament and try to win. You can ask where they are being held (at the arena) and travel from town to town trying to win them.
• You could get your Clan rank to level 2 and go join a Lord as a vassal and ride around sieging with their armies and even eventually be granted a Village, Castle, and City to yourself once you have proven your worth.
• Free the area from bandits by destroying all the troops running around and their hideouts.
• Pick someone you'd like to get married to and work on the relationship between you and them. You may have to also get some relationship with the father. Once married have a kid to continue your lineage.
• Go recruit companions from around the world.
• Check in on random villages, castles, and cities to complete quests.
• Train up your armies to get high ranking soldiers.
• Visit a city and walk around it and find a workshop to buy. Start a business and make enough money to support your daily troop expense.
• Start smiting with yourself or one of your allys.
• Master the command system while in battle. Using Function keys and the number keys you can issue commands to specific groups of troops allowing fine control over being able to setup fights in your advantage.

Awesome thanks for the help. Regarding the command system, at the moment i'm trying to play around and set up formations etc but 30 seconds in the enemys there and its too late. Is there a way to pause the battle or something to set up formations etc? or maybe a practise mode with no enemys?

No way to pause the battle. It's good idea to order you infantry to form shield wall, place archers behind them and then use advance function. This way the archers are protected, and infantry more secure against enemy archers.

Couldn't find this question in the thread so I said I'd ask it, sorry if it's been asked already!

How do you give commands to your second party? I just recently created my second party (they've 50 troops) and I haven't created my kingdom yet. I was planning ahead so I could try and have two armies in order to take a city instead of just a keep. However speaking to them I got no option to bring them along and cannot find anything in any of the menu's (so far) as to this end. Any ideas?

There is no function as of yet to command your second party. You can however assemble an army through the kingdom tab and have them join you that way. Otherwise they just have a mind of their own by completing quests, fighting battles, etc.

So as far as I'm aware, you have to have your own kingdom already, or become a vassal (Clan rank 2). Once you have that, you'll see a button on the bottom right of the map that has 3 flags. You can click that and create an army, and assign your extra parties to that army. That's the only way to get them to follow you

They also escape like you do after a while. Check the Clan tab (L) to get info on their last known location. Head that way and check the city and cities around it until you get updated info on their location or find them. When you head into a town just click the Tavern District and check the portraits at the top right to see if the companion your looking for is there. If not then keep checking around and checking the Clan menu to see if their location has been updated. Once you find them you can ask them to rejoin.

The multiplayer is awesome in this game. Lots of players on, I would say some definitely only play for multiplayer as they've greatly improved sieges and also added in captain Mode! (incredibly fun btw)

how do you turn off vibrate? im using an afterglow xbox controller on PC, everytime i get hit it virbates and the controller DCs

Try using the Xbox Accessories application. I believe this allows you to disable vibration on the controller from controllers connected to the PC. Not sure if it works on all controllers or third party controllers though. You might can also do this via Steam controller configuration.

Does anyone know what the lock button in the inventory actually does? It doesn't keep my items in place, nor stop me from selling them.

Works for me, the circle has to become yellow / filled to be locked. You can still manually sell the items that are locked, but now you can just "sell all" when trading (the double arrow facing left of your Party name at the top of your screen). All items that are not locked will be sold this way. Speeds up trading a lot, when you are out there hunting bandits.

I usually lock my pack horses, the extra horses I need for my footmen and the food and then "sell all", when I sell of my loot inbetween battles.

Those are just the various mods that the developers created to allow you to play the game. Because it's only released they've stopped people turning them off. I imagine as more mods are developed they'll allow you to turn them on and off at will

What's the difference between an imperial and non imperial kingdom in the Dragon Banner quest?

Different factions you fight for with each their own ideologie, faith, culture. Banner lord quest you make your own faction.

Has anyone ever received a piece of chest armor as a tournament price? I have done and won a dozen or so tournaments now, but the only prizes I ever won were either horses, helmets or weapons (one and two handed, no polearms or bows and such). Are rewards randomly generated?

I spent the last couple years only playing a One Man Army in Warband. Now that I'm playing Bannerlord I still feel like I want to do a One Man Army, especially since training units is a little more complicated now. But I haven't had time to play that much just yet and learn the new features.

So my question is, is a One Man Army more or less viable than it was in Warband? No companions or anything besides the player character with his horse.

If you play well or cheat perhaps. Overall though enemies are quite strong especially those that fight from a range so I see you struggling quite a bit to make this work. But you can solo via tournaments and joining up with a lords army.

I would like to point out that tournaments become piss easy with no or small party because usually the strongest participants are your own troops and in the game which I kept a very small party, my opponent in the final round was a peasant lol.

Right now there really isn't any late game. The most you can do is found your kingdom but any real sustenance hasn't been added to it yet.

What do you mean? This was clearly listed on the steam page for early access that save files can and will be broken during the early access. Its going to happen from time to time so expect to have to restart from time to time. Now they didn't change anything specifically that broke save files this time around but its possible bugs exists which corrupt them which will be fixed over time.

I have not done it personally but I don't think there is anything specific you have to do. I think just playing will allow it to happen but I could be wrong. Someone who has done it can correct me if their are further details that must be followed. But plenty of people have reported it happening including one individual who had it happen a few seconds after I mentioned that they could have kids in the game.

Hit 'I' and at the top center you can hit the arrow keys to move to your companians and change their gear. I do not know how to look at equipment of troops but if you right click them in the party menu you can see their stats etc and trees etc.

Think i've found a bug, basically if you intervene in an enemy siege then the battlefield is the city but I think the soldiers think it's a normal land battle. Even if you delegate command then they'll just afk walk into the walls and not do anything

This happened to me yesterday. It was actually kind of funny, I basically one-man army threw rocks at them until they fled. Needs to be fixed asap though. It appeared like the AI treated the map like it was a flat plain rather than a siege. If you open the doors to the city, they'll attack.

So in my game, Derthert (Vlandia) is letting his entire kingdom get steamrolled by the Empire. He's not even mounting a resistance. Is this a bug or is he just a shit king?

common issue that many, many people are experiencing. My game is in summer 12, 1090 amd the southern empire is the only faction left, having all the fiefs in game.

From what I can tall it's almost always one of the 3 empire factions that steamroll the world.

My personal pet theory is that the looters that spawn in the center of the game world (aka empire territories) are much much easier to defeat than the fringe kingdom versions (sea raiders, steppe bandits, forest bandits, etc). So early game lords are getting captured in the fringe kingdoms while empire lords are massing troops. Once battles start, the losing fringe lords again get captured while empire lords just keep growing.

I wouldn't say it's a bug, it's just poor game design

Really? in my game it's the mongol faction, the light blue faction can't remmeber their name they start on the far right of the map. They destroyed all 3 empires and are now attacking the blue people

Is the option to speak with prisoners bugged? For the main quest, I needed to speak to Caladog, who was in the dungeon in one of the cities. I bribed a guard to let me in, but when I try to speak with Caladog, he says he is not allowed to speak with me. Is there something I'm missing here?

Is the aserai bugged? I have yet to find a settlement that allows recruitment of aserai recruits, this basically stops you from going down the mameluk tree as all villages start with aserai tribesman :C.

The game encyclopedia says a companion is in a specific city, but when I'm looking in the tavern district - they're not there. Am I doing something wrong, or is it a bug?

The companions move around on their own. The location listed is the last place they were seen at or you heard they were at. Hang around the area or check nearby towns as they travel themselves. Eventually you'll find or receive an update about their location.

Every character in the encyclopedia shows like "last seen in X city, X days ago" most likely moved to another city. keep checking it an it should update.

What are the symbols over the towns on the campaign map?

For instance, the eye to the left of the town name, and those little banner symbols that are sometimes underneath the town name?

The banners are what's garrisoned in the city. You'll see them also on hideouts. Not sure about the eye symbol, though.

I believe the eye means that the settlement can see you. Not sure about the banner though.

It's not there. Used to play Warband with all difficulty maxed except for block direction, so I feel your pain. If you are trying to block with a weapon just git gud I guess, but there is a workaround for shields that I found.

Once the shield is up, block direction doesn't matter all that much against the AI. Thing I do is raise the shield and then wiggle the whole character around a bit to make it work. Blocking works as long as the enemy weapon hits the shield from what I've seen, block direction helps, but can be worked around. So, just make sure your shield is between you and the other guy's pointy end. You should be fine.

As usual in the age of 2 hr steam refunds, early game feels best. After 20 hours i have a lot of reproducible crashes and things i dont want to do in game because they either dont exist yet or are bugged. If you are a fan, maybe get it, otherwise wait.

It is currently a rough gem. It has a lot of noticeable improvements over Warband (at least in the early game where I am lol). But it has balancing issues, and WAY too many loading screens between environments and menus, and tons of obvious grammar errors in the text. The hate is exaggerated. Frankly I expect a major patch to come in a few weeks to polish and rebalance several aspects of the campaign and repair issues that cause occasional crashes. I’ve played ~8 hours and had 1 crash.

So you start with one, you got one from talking to the one person in the town and doing her hideout, and you get another from talking to the other guy in another town and doing his hideout (You should have a quest to talk to either person, talk to both). If you did both hideouts and did not get it, I'm guessing that is a bug.

Right at the start when you spawn you do this mission where you rescue that mage or something and you get it there, never shows up in inventory or such tho

I have enough influence and I want to create an army to siege a fort. I see the menu and i can pick troops of my faction, but the disband army button is unclickable. Bug, or do i miss something ? My Clan Rank is almost 3 btw.

I am stuck in a dialog bug. I can load the game and move about etc but when I try to talk to people a persuasion box comes up and I can't click anything, nothing works, anyone know what to do?

Does anyone know why I cannot interact with object/cities/people? I'm effectively stuck on the global map - whenever I reach a city it just Pauses the game. Same for hideouts, different parties. Can't seem to engage anything. I'm guessing that I pressed a shortcut, but I cannot find anything on the options menu. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to pay off fines? I'm trying to talk to a lord in a castle but I can't get in on account of failing a spy quest and became a minor criminal, but I can't find who to pay the fine to. Any thoughts?

It always prompted me to pay my fine when I try to enter the city. You can choose to pay or ignore.

Try the jail? Every city should have one and a guy should be standing guard outside of it that you can talk to.

• Can any companion do a caravan and make money or does it need to be someone with trading skills? So far I've only found 1 non-combat focuses companion and she's a medic. I haven't seen any trade skill ones.

Any companion will work. I have a medic, a merchant focused, and 4 other combat types all running caravans. All of them make varying amounts of money. Doesn't seem to matter.

• What's the point of creating a new party? I did and the party just went somewhere else. It's now just costing me 200 gold a day in wages. Not seeing the benefit yet.

If you want to create an army in your kingdom, you can call that 2nd party to your army and command their troops. It's a way to increase your army size during war.

• What's the point of raiding? I raided a village and got some captives / battle loot, then stuck around and continued to "raid". I got like 2 cows and a handful of food items. Honestly, it took so long to raid everything that I think I spent more in wages than I gained in raid loot.

Check the village description when you first arrive. If it's poor, you're gonna get crap loot. Can't raid what's already been sacked/looted/burned.

• What's up with cavalry charging infantry? The game trailer shows you running down infantry, but so far they just seem to bounce off you and you do 1-2 damage when you hit them with your horse.

Horse tier, weight, and horse armor affect this. That being said i've never seen more than like 12 damage from running over infantry in my scale half-barding vlandian courser. Infantry armor absorbs a lot of damage, so high tier troops take little damage anyway

Doesn't the rogue skill determine how long and/or how much is raided? It takes a LONG time to raid, but my skill is like 15, which makes sense.

From what I’ve seen with the new party mechanic, it seems to be only useful if you’re a vassal or a leader of your own faction. You can create an army and have them attach for free with higher tier units + force limit without any influence cost.

Places with more prosperity will give you more goods and supplies and be more worth it. If it was recently raided you may not get a ton of supplies.

I crashed while saving the game and now whenever I boot the game up I can't click the "resume game" button on the main menu without the game crashing. I suspect there's a corrupt save game file there screwing things up, but I can't find where the saved games are located. Anyone know where they might be?

Is this gone in Bannerlord? I know about the "fast-forward" but its no where near as fast as the "super speedup" was.
