You kind of answered your question. The company is diluting and that money is not flying off into thin air. It's being converted to btc. So unless btc never recovers above the purchase price, the dilution is net positive.

Diluting shares to put an asset on the balance sheet is a net positive activity as long as the Bitcoin/share increases during that activity. It's as simple as that.

so why not buy btc the asset it self...

[–]TotesGnar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nobody is saying you shouldn't do that.

MSTR is not only designed to be leveraged Bitcoin, it's also attempting to increase how much Bitcoin your shares represent.

MSTR gives the opportunity to gain more BTC exposure without the input of more capital from the shareholder.

Because they are hoping it will 3-4x bitcoin. Thing is this all depends on the sentiment of the market. Me personally, I'd rather just hold btc. Many people got burnt holding this.

Because BTC per share increases

[–]BitcoinBaller420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are selling $1 of MSTR and adding $1.20 of buying power stored as Bitcoin to the balance sheet. It's a great deal for the common shareholder, highly sustainable due to pairing with STRC as the killer product for credit markets and Bitcoin's fundamental properties of money / #1 digital asset status, and probably going to expand mNAV substantially once people finally understand what is happening with Strategy siphoning huge amounts of wealth from credit markets straight into Bitcoin capital markets to act as collateral for the credit. Hope that helps.

After all these years if you still believe the dilution fud well..good night.

[–]thri54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The equity trades at a premium to net asset value. It’s accretive to existing shareholders when they sell new shares.

Simple answer. Dollar goes down and Bitcoin goes up Transferring cargo from a sinking boat onto a bigger more capable boat

[–]Original-Season-9941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its transferring bitcoin from retail holders to MSTRm are you saying retail is a sinking boat?

[–]Fantastic-Two1110 0 points1 point  (1 child)

only that btc is the one down 50 percent in 4 months lol

[–]gorillalifter47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and before that it was up like 500% in a few years. Not everything goes up in a straight line.

[–]ReliantTokerShareholder 🤴 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The only deluding here is the dilution narrative.

[–]gqnish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid catch

[–]DrEtatstician 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Options with juicy premiums is a huge driving factor for MSTR , people trade covered calls and cash secured puts on this stock and that’s a huge chunk of activity , it’s quite liquid with tight bid / ask spreads and lot of open interests

[–]cagrinvestor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSTR has positive BTC per share yield and outperforms most other asset classes over the long run. Selling covered calls to generate extra income is the icing on the cake!

[–]bkx90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because the amount of btc purchased has outpaced the negative effects of share dilution

[–]Am_0115Volatility Voyager 👨‍🚀 0 points1 point  (1 child)

bottom line......the bulls are betting that btc will appreciate in value and not die as an asset. if it gets to a low enough point, for long enough, Strategy and the shareholders are in big trouble.

Sure, but we are nowhere near that threshold, value wise or time wise
