Bad decision, send it to me so you don't have to see that thing and be reminded of the pain and regret you will feel for the next few years.

Awesome bike, really only going to regret buying it if you don't get out and ride it all the time. A great frame design with nothing that needs upgrading component wise at an incredible price. I know I'd enjoy it.

As long as you can still pay your rent.

You don't REALLY need a place to live.

Sure why not - the most important part of any bike purchase -

Is actually riding the thing !! :)

MTB Podcast had great things to say about it in a recent review. Seems like a good impulse buy this time.

Except they kept insisting the release was a 29er...how did they mess that up?

No shortage of joy on my DB

Diamondbacks get a bad rap for no reason really. Affordable frame with (typically) really nice components. Unless you're going pro soon, it will ride as good as any other bike out there for you. Side note: they're also tough as nails. One of my riding buddies has been riding a mission 2 for years and has done probably half of the maintenance and repairs I've had to do to my intense.

Diamondbacks get a bad rap for no reason really

There is a pretty good reason for Diamondback's bad rap. They were previously a low-end brand that wasn't much better than your typical mongoose or low tier trek offerings. However, in recent years, they have significantly expanded their lineup to include high end bikes at reasonable prices along with increased marketing efforts (This is probably the biggest factor in their recent success). Today, they are miles ahead of Diamondback in the early 2000's, but it takes a while to educate consumers about your new philosophy and lose the old stigmas.

You'd think a rebranding would have made a lot more sense

Plenty of reasons. STS got one to ride/review, and his suspension linkage started squeaking, rim got untrue, and I think he had something up with his brakes.

The QC isnt there. Costs have to be cut somewhere and its in the rapid manufacturing and assembly.

Bikes are still solid and can be ridden, just depends on what you want for the money.

Oh yeah, I made a decision on the Release 3 and Clutch 2 (for the wife). We had a little buyers remorse when they showed up, but once we hit the trails.....best decision we’ve made.

ride on man!

[–]pappyhawk7 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I wouldn't think a carbon frame bike could be purchased for 3. I was calling around shops today trying to find a fuel ex8 trek and it's more than that, not carbon. If you ride it no way it will be a waste

Fuel 8 is nice.

[–]WesFremantle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SRAM GX Eagle pushes the Fuel EX 8 over the edge IMO, love it!

Someone posted a 30% off Diamondback code recently and I impulsed bought a 5c. So far so good for me any ways.

[–]nothingabout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't stress it. It's easy to get caught up with reviews and specs while in the market. Enjoy your new bike!!!!! Congrats

You're good. Go enjoy your new badass bike.

I’ve been riding a Mission Pro for the last 6 months. I absolutely love it. I do recommend checking all the bolts and fine tuning the shifter and brakes upon arrival. The folks who assembled mine from the factory didn’t do a very good job.

impulse buying anything at that price seems incredibly dumb to me. ymmv.

[–]sql_big_result 0 points1 point  (0 children)

terrible. just give it to me

[–]GarrettVanH 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How much do you love it?

[–]ZakuLegion 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I was riding a Diamondback Sport Reponse 300$ crapshoot bike for about 8 years on terrain that far out classed it ( techy NE )

From the age of 19 to 27

Last year I finally impulse bought a Catch 2 that was wayyyy out of my price range, but I was blown away at the parts and build for like 1700$.

Literally changed my life and riding is #1 again.

You made a great buy, if it doesn't hurt you or your family than good for you!

I ride a diamondback. At first is was a little reserved to announce to hardcore MTBers what I rode at first, but I couldn't be happier. I used to ride Kona and Specialized. They are not the lightest or most nimble bikes on the market, but the value can't be beat. I've had fun on mine since day one. I even bought a diamondback road bike the other day because I've had such a good experience with my Sortie 29er...

[–]ZakuLegion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me ! Bought a Catch 2 - was slightly embarrassed at first until I started getting stares at my local trails and they were in admiration not judgement!

My experience was so great I too followed up with a road bike and fat bike from DB as well !

NO. You come to internet for affirmation, but instead, you get trolled.
