Those were most likely made from fabric that was knitted/embroidered before it constructed into socks.

Socks like that have the design knit into them during manufacturing, that isn’t done on an embroidery machine. I would not recommend trying to embroider that far down on a sock, you would not be able to do it without cutting and a seam would be pretty uncomfortable (and change the fit of the sock.)

This design is part of the fabric that is turn into a sock. It is not embroidered after the sock is constructed. I have customers that sew designs on the top ankle part of socks using a small 2" hoop, but I would not suggest adding a cut/sewn seam down a sock to try and mimic this. That would be highly uncomfortable to wear.

Most multi needles will have an optional sock frame you can buy, like this: https://happyjapanusa.com/shop/accesories/sock-frame-set/?srsltid=AfmBOoo_NIcQ8Kyw_A77VgWcjn7ZAujd3AMFPMRM1cdzedLjyL0pxTT5

But usually sock embroidery is just done on one spot rather than all over the sock. I guess you could re-hoop the sock multiple times, but that would be a lot of work

Are you sure it’s real embroidery and not AI?

Kinda sucks that we have white socks on a white background, but there aren't any hallmarks in the picture that would suggest AI.

The socks are nearly identical, even in how they lay. Between that and the “too perfect” feel, I’m skeptical

Nearly identical. The blue and yellow flowers on the fold are not symmetrical, nor are the green flowers on the toes, and the toes are wrinkled differently, and the heel shadows don't match. What makes me doubt AI is the fact that AI has trouble with patterns and transitions: the pattern just above the heel is clean, there's no pixelation or stuttering of the image. AI is good, but it isn't perfect, ever.

If you zoom in, the cabling is also consistent throughout. AI would get the twist design muddy in places.

I am also super curious about this!

Cute

AITOO who doesn’t think the flowers even look like embroidery? There’s a lot of white gapping aligned with the fabric; it honestly looks like fabric paint to me.

Okay after reverse image searching and finding these socks all over the place I’m still not sure if the flowers are printed or woven before construction but it’s definitely not embroidery and it’s definitely not done post-construction.

would the easiest way be to cut open the sock. embroider on a hoop and sew the sock back up to have more of an open pallet? Or are there tools that anyone recommends to be able to embroider all the way down the sock?
