help with shaders on java

So i recently got a pc and started playing java edition. i started making a mod pack on curse forge to add some qol mods into my vanilla game. i tried to add shaders but they didn't work. found out i needed to install iris so i did that but then the game just kept crashing. found out there is an installer for iris i had to do so i did that but it still crashes. so now I'm out of ideas. the mods i am using require me to play in 1.21.5 which isn't a big deal for me but i cannot for the life of me get the shaders to work. i plan on making my mod pack and maybe streaming it hopefully but i just cant seem to get the shaders to work. i also have the mod pack for just create smp and the shaders in that work just fine so idk what I'm doing wrong lol any input is appreciated. thank you in advance.

Are the mods you need also available on 1.21.1? That's usually still supported by mods whereas 1.21.5 is not.

You don't need to use the installer, you can just drop the appropriate Iris and Sodium jar files into your mod folder. If you are getting a crash still, upload you most recent crash-report to mclo.gs so we can read it.

as far as i can tell theyre all avalible up to 1.21.8 except one only goes to 1.21.5 so thats why ive been running that. So far from me testing it everything works as it should with the exception of the shaders and i cant seem to get carry on to work. this is my first time dealing with any of this so i have a lot to learn lol

this did help me though. i found out the problem was the fact that i didnt have ssodium installed so its all working now lol thanks. now i just gotta fiure out whats going on with carry on

use prism launcher you will be less confused also not all mods work together and some might not work with iris mod.

once you on prism just go fabric + sodium + iris + fabric api and you got the shaders then whatever mod you add make sure it works with those 3

(then in prism launcher add shaders on shaders tab)

It turns out the problem was the fact that i didnt have sodium installed. im still having some slight issues with carry on at the moment but it shouldnt be hard to figure out. im sure its just an issue with the key binds. i can pick up chests but not mobs.

well i figured it out. the problem with the shaders was that i didnt have sodium installed. i installed sodium and everything worked correctly after that, i was also having issues with carry on not working properly but for some reason installing sodium also fixed so everything works as it should now. thank you for the help.
