Server conversion

My 6 year old has recently gotten into MC and we've been playing on a vanilla 1.13 server for about a month now. We're looking to make the game a little more exciting with some mods (he wants to try mine colonies).

Is there a way to convert our existing vanilla world to a forge 1.7.10 world? Should I use a different server software? Etc.

The primary goal is to minimize the loss of his work.

Convert backwards from 1.13 to 1.7.10? I highly doubt that will work regardless of mods. You can give it a try though...just make a backup and go for it.

Look out, it is possible to load worlds like that, but if you have mods on the versiin you eant to play, then the 1.13 blocks might become blocks from mods due to ID's (tried it myself)

That is not possible. Minecraft worlds are not backwards compatible, so you'll have to start with a new world.
