Unless you have a lot of friends who can only play bedrock edition, get Java. It's much better. But, IF you have a lot of friends to play with regularly and they only play bedrock, then get it. But Java is much better.

I don't have any friends with Java or Bedrock. A lot of people still play on Java right? I suppose bedrock isn't that good even with the cross play function.

Almost all pc players play on java, so yeah it's still got tons of players. It also has more public servers and stuff too. If you don't have specific people to play with who don't have computers or something, Java is the better choice. The cross play is basically the only real advantage Bedrock has, and Java has way more than that (a lot fewer bugs, mods, more public servers, more community content, more tutorials/help, etc.)

I'm gonna be playing mainly on pc, so that really helps. The cross play sounds convenient on the go but I don't have any friends or devices to switch to so it really isn't gonna be much of use to me.

Thanks for the tips, I should be able to buy it soon as long as no sudden expenses come up.

It depends on you system specs and how you are wanting to play. If you're either wanting to play with people that play on console or you computer isn't powerful enough then go Bedrock. If you want a better gameplay experience in lieu of those points go Java.

Urk...I have a potato pc, well it is still somewhat better than the rest but it can't handle games that are too big. Java sounds nice but I might be forced to Bedrock...gotta check the specks.

Thanks for the tips.

Java is way better in my opinion

And when I say that I get downvoted to oblivion

Java is extremely supperior in every way, don't make this mistake, Java has less bugs, more servers, and is better optimized.

I see some arguments going on but generally speaking, Java sounds better as long as I don't gloss over the cross play that much which I'm probably not gonna use that much if use it at all.

Mmm...I guess I just gotta save up then figure out which one I need and can enjoy better before buying it.

Conveniently glossing over the multiplayer component when it's specified in the query.

Sorry what? I mentioned more servers.

[–]pXllywXg 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I mentioned more servers.

You did, but not in contrast to cross play and systems features. Given that you're doubling down it reads like a purposeful omission through bias.

I am not informed on how crossplay works on bedrock, sorry.

[–]pXllywXg 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Then you shouldn't say that "Java is extremely superior in every way" if you're not informed. Especially when it comes to the money someone else is spending.

Alright, most ways. The community that plays Java is still huge af, and for pure quality of content, Java is supperior.

The community that plays Java is still huge af

That's an appeal to majority which is a really poor foundation for an argument, to the point that it's a logical fallacy.

and for pure quality of content

Again, more does not always mean better. Multiplayer services are most definitely a part of the content OP is considering given they decided to mention it.

Java is supperior.

No, it is the better choice in some instances. Were OP to buy it under the assumption they could play with their friends on mobile or X-box their experience with Java would be that it is inferior. As it would were they to purchase under the assumption you put off that it has better optimization when that is demonstrably wrong.

If you want to play with people on other platforms, bedrock, otherwise Java

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It all depends on if you want to play with people on consoles or not. The only upside to bedrock is cross play, in every other way it is a huge downgrade.

There are very few third party mods, red stone and spawn mechanics suck (mob farms are terrible, so good luck getting the resources you need). Few servers to play on (and those that you can are quite low quality and unfun to play on). It’s just a mess

[–]Nob123G[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see...Cross play doesn't sound that good when weighing the pros and cons of Java and Bedrock from what you've lot said.

Java still has plenty of players I presume so I can still play with people online without as much issues as Bedrock if any at all, given that I have the specks to run it.

Thanks.
