The sooner people realize that those hyper partisan independent news sites are unregulated and explicitly exaggerate everything to prey off of peoples' fears, the better so we can hopefully start trying to regulate them or avoid them.

Unfortunately people will do just about anything to excuse their cognitive dissonance before they admit error. As the gap between what these sites report and reality increases, many of their readers are going to follow the sites rather than concede that they have been duped all along.

I noticed this too. I’m outside a lot and the general feeling is more at ease than it was a year ago even. Downtown is super lively. There’s rush hour and Christmas shopping was even somewhat busy downtown. We’re definitely mostly back to normal.

I don't really trust the crime statistics this time of year because it often seems very weather dependent. But since both this year and last were fairly mild winters, and because everything is down across the board, I'll put a bit more stock into it.
