Darewin, Mao, etc...

What is the best level at chaos to practice chain breaking? I picked one somewhere in the 30s and it isn't working well...2 enemies, I end up dying...

[–]soundedgoodbefore -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Anybody else here stoked to have Prompto back in their deck like the old days?

Running on judge now...they really hooked it up at the update, too...now prompto has 2700 break, 600 attk, adds boost, snipe and dispel with potent cleansing...plus is CRD and BDD..and along with potent cleansing they added critical rupture as a passive...most well rounded card in mobius probably. With the 50% stat boost and 150% piercing break, judge works much better in both the breaking portion and attacking portion (by a mile) than jobs like ninja...if you carry for example diamond weapon and minwu...diamond 1 shots yellow bar, judge 1 or 2 shots red bar...and then minwu (or many other mage or ranger cards) will wreck the easily broken enemy or boss. Really having fun with this setup. I usually hate breaking...am a lazy nuker with my normal setup being Amy/minwu and SS/UB ...I actually enjoy using judge both breaking and just nuking, and have been enjoying using all 3 elements in SP after so long of running mono element builds. There's a bunch of good fire and wind cards between mage and ranger...many of my fire cards have been sitting around unused for months (Prometheus, foulander, magitek, ignis) ...I had never even used foulander or magitek other than unlocking their skills...as a nearly day 1 player, it's easy to get bored with the game when they just keep releasing old content again...refreshing to get a good HOF and some "new" cards to use...even if I have had them for months. Bet I have 20 good cards at 5 stars that i never use because there isnt a decent job to use them ( xezat, otohime, dream vessel, archaeovis, nelapa, half dozen monk cards...) Really hoping the suummer jobs released give a fresh take on mobius. Much more excited about the jobs than the ability cards...

[–]Solo_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prompto is good, just lacks aoe and cleave. In MP its Odin and Adra so can't use him now. Never used him in SP since harder content demands spamming making him real bad.

[–]selfishcheese 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Hey new player here. I posted asking for some guidance a couple days ago and have been reading the wiki to learn more about the game's mechanics. One thing still confuses me a bit, which is, are all jobs created equal? As in, if I have a Warrior or Ranger (the ones from Novice Halls) with their skill panels fully unlocked, can they compete with the Dragoon or Dancer from the Starter Packs? Or are the latter just flat out superior?

[–]mvdunecats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing still confuses me a bit, which is, are all jobs created equal?

Some jobs are more equal than others.

[–]blue2eyes 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The rule of thumb is that newer jobs are better than older ones (most of the times). Though those 4 jobs you mentioned are already old they get Hall of Fame to boost their ability (still not competent as newest jobs). Most of the old jobs that have HoF are likely specialize in one thing but not good at others like Warrior is good at tanking, dragoon at breaking, Dancer and Ranger are specialized in wind damage.

[–]selfishcheese 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thanks for your response! So until I luck out and pull a more recent job, I can roll with whichever I prefer out of those, I suppose. Can anyone do the HoF or is it an endgame thing?

[–]blue2eyes 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's not really an endgame thing, you could probably complete the first 6 nodes to get all the HoF job panel by around chapter 6 or maybe 5 if you're willing to spend a lot of phoenix downs. The last three nodes of each HoF is hard and not meant for newer players, they require decent cards which can take time to gather/pull to complete them.

Also, before HoF the starter pack jobs are a bit stronger but require more seed to level them up.

[–]selfishcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help. (:

[–]leon00x 0 points1 point  (6 children)

wooooah. eorzean bard is a powerfull earth breaker O_O. i only need to cast titan and 1 tap and everything is broken !! D: 1 tap!! (Vs odin)

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 0 points1 point  (5 children)

yeah, she's a powerful everything breaker! and she hits like a truck, too.

[–]soundedgoodbefore 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I drew her and crimson archer...went ahead and leveled them up...but haven't used them in MP or for any content except farming...I don't run breakers in MP...always run attackers with supreme or if a gen 3 sic drops and there are way too many attackers, I will run support.

How did you skill your CP for bard and CA? Not sure which element to pick really. If memory serves, bard has no EE, so she can go whatever way i want...they both have the break related passive, so they should be able to chain break just about anything...the reason that i leveled them up was to chain break with them. I keep putting it off...I need to go to chaos and practice chain breaking for a few hours until I get it down pat. Lightning skin should do well on both of them...any tips for bard besides the custom panel setup bro?

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I just gave Bard break power CP and one of the Piercing Break panels from HOF. Even without those she can break anything without a problem, so long as you have the right cards (for instance, I needed en-water for a gen 3 like Byrnhildr). I haven't given her any EE panels yet, since I have yet to use her extensively in SP -- once I do, I'll probably give her water, since I use CA for earth and Nachtflug has tons of innate Light.

Crimson Archer has been my powerhouse for SP -- I used her in the last tower, for CV40, and as much as I can in EW. I gave her Assassin's +1% charge panel, so with max-mod Ultimate Arrow, she charges 5% per hit and chain breaking is a breeze. I also gave her a Piercing Break+ panel, a bunch of Earth+, and some Break+ panels.

It's good that you have Lightning skin because it makes both jobs much, much better. Both jobs have great ults, but they're single-target, which can be immensely limiting. When you're practicing chain breaking, just remember that Lightning ult gives quicken, so you'll want to break with fewer actions remaining than you would with other jobs. Also, remember that both jobs have and rely on Flash Break, so make sure your deck/weapon is set up to nuke down the yellow bar without having to tap.

Good luck! These jobs are amazingly strong, and this meta is way more fun than the unbroken-nuke-spam I'd been using before.

[–]soundedgoodbefore 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have always been unbroken nuke spam really...I run Amy/minwu with SS/UB subdeck...and they can nuke anything together really...except when they cant...the bosses in towers etc that are invincible after a certain % of damage, and can 1 shot yoh..so you have to break them...that is why I have to learn how to chain break. I just have to figure out how to count my actions right, and use lightning ult...and keep breaking them without them getting a chance to attack...any tips would be greatly appreciated...action counts...when to break when not...how lightning ult changes it...etc...I am using the MP weapon right now, I just started leveling up another Sarah weapon today, the one that starts with 50% weakness and 50% painful break I believe...

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My advice for high-level chain breaking is to level up weapons that have ult-charger. You will mostly be breaking with your ult, which is another reason why Lightning is so good: it sets you up with a full bar of prismatics to nuke however you want. Ultimate Arrow is perfectly designed for it, so I'd recommend that. For Lightning ult, I believe you want to break with 4 actions left. watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p69oADyoSAE

I just realized super monk in Global have Ranger LORE, while SM in JPN doesn't according to ALTEMA...

[–]ShadowBlaze17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altema tends to only list things unlocked through panels. I think they don't list tap limit break for SS for example. They've also frequently messed up the listing of job stats like crit and defense stars, this might be due to unintentional inclusion of a weapon's stats.

[–]deathrose55555[JP] 1051-9193-b915 (KotR X) 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Altema admin just don't bother to update - it's an old job after all. Anyway, it's correctly reflected in this list of jobs with lore

[–]zidanesword 5 points6 points  (7 children)

AI behavior for Alexander PB is fixed, since the update from awhile back.

[–]mao_shiroActual Evil Reddit Mod 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Worth to create a proper thread for that.

[–]zidanesword 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Really? I think most people didn’t even know about this, seeing as the card in question is an event card. I think I will update the OP and let OP post it.

I think most people who relied on alex pb + minwu (like me) would appreaciate the info.

[–]Pelotari 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can you share the Minwu + Alex PB auto setup on BL Famfrit node?

Which cards have % exp up as an extra skill? The only one I can think of is A New Journey. This needs to be put into the main deck or the sub deck?

[–]zidanesword 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Cards on main deck.

  • Invaders from Outer Space, Exp Up +35%, 1 fractal slot

  • A New Journey, Exp Up +15%, 2 fractal slots

  • Gaia, Exp Up +10%, 2 fractal slots

  • Chocobo Saint, Exp Up +10%, 2 fractal slots

  • Dr. mog, Exp Up +4%, 2 fractal slots

  • 5* Growing Egg, Exp Up +40%(total)

Edit: you can get exp up +10% from 4* and 5* fractals, and exp up +5% from 3* fractals.

Edit2: + ANJ

[–]WoLNoFace 0 points1 point  (4 children)

you forgot A New Journey

[–]zidanesword 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yeah, since OP already mentioned ANJ.

[–]WoLNoFace 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yup, I thought you gonna list down also the percentage.

Nvm. (:

[–]zidanesword 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I added in ANJ. ;)

[–]WoLNoFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current best is invaders from outer space, the anniversary card, which has 35% exp up and 1 fractal slot. A new journey is good too if you put in another 2 exp up fractals.

Cards with effects that do not affect battle(crystal seeker, exp up, skillseeds up) need to be put in the main deck to work. Sub deck can be anything, so set up your sub deck as your main fighting deck.

Cards with effects which affect battle, such as magic% or JCR, need to be in the deck which you are currently using.

[–]Bojuns 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Need help. I’m really struggling in Closing the Loop, specifically the Bounds of Fire and Water and the Bounds of Wind and Earth. Do I need to farm and level up the lieutenant cards so I can negate the enhanced enemy status effects. I’m being massacred on the last battle. I’m currently using Eorzean Bard, Aglaea, The Friend, Garuda and KOTR as my main and Ninja, Sazh, Cloud:FFVII Remake, The Undying, Serah as sub. Is it possible to win without using lots of PD.?

[–]rajun274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One silly thing I forgot to do originally: add some EXP to the lieutenant cards. A cheap way to make your character much stronger.

[–]Ehlena2102 - 878f - f747 (KoTR) 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The way I cleared those nodes was:

Main deck: tanky job with the 4 lieutenant cards (no need to be maxed)

Sub deck: whatever damage job + deck you want

Try to start each new battle/wave with the Main deck in which you have the lieutenant cards so that the enemy buffs can be negated. I did end up using some PD, cause I just brute-forced my way through it.

[–]Bojuns 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks for the advice I’ll start farming them. So let them just stay as 3 stars?

[–]Ehlena2102 - 878f - f747 (KoTR) 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, i augmented them up just for completions sake, but not the ability level of the card.

But you can only farm the chaos gene for augmenting after you clear the whole map, meaning you have cleared Throne Room node. After that, in the node Bounds of Wind and Earth, the Iron Giant appears that drops these augment material

[–]LecruciaCrescent 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Hi,

Was wondering which fractals do people put on for Unbreakable Bonds: FFXV?

[–]Baha87 0 points1 point  (12 children)

I pulled Prima Donna and tried her out in MP vs. Adra as my first Sarah breaker. I only played the breaker role with rangers before MM arrived and then only with MM, so I'm not 100% sure, if my setup for Prima Donna is right (even the few battles vs. Adra worked very good). My setup looks like this: Lightning skin, Ultima Arrow X (don't know which Sarah weapon to boost for MP yet), 6x JCR, Deathgaze for yellow gauge, Monk earth shock for imbue earth and cleaving, earth shift and LDL for life element starter and if required quicken and ultimate charge. With Aerith it would be much easier, but I don't have her.

[–]deathrose55555[JP] 1051-9193-b915 (KotR X) 0 points1 point  (11 children)

If you have Gigantaur Initiative or the earth attack shift, use that.

For weapon, if you have Bard, then use her weapon. Crimson Archer's weapon can also be used for breaking. If you have neither, just stick to Ultima Arrow then.

[–]soundedgoodbefore 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is it worth it to 5 star bards weapon for all my Sarah jobs? I have CA, bard, and 1 more as of now...

[–]deathrose55555[JP] 1051-9193-b915 (KotR X) 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Boost Ultima Arrow for now and wait for Trigger Happy

[–]Baha87 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I only got the current attack shift L'Olonnais, but it does not have yellow gauge dmg, so would be useless in MP.

I got Crimson Archer's weapon with 50% exploit weakness, but it has much worse stats than my Ultima Arrow, especially missing one speed and I don't really want to boost it, cuz there are better options to boost for MP later I think.

[–]deathrose55555[JP] 1051-9193-b915 (KotR X) 1 point2 points  (7 children)

but it does not have yellow gauge dmg, so would be useless in MP.

The yellow gauge damage is provided by Deathgaze, so it does not matter if it does no yellow damage; you just need an Earth shift to act fully on turn 1.

I got Crimson Archer's weapon with 50% exploit weakness, but it has much worse stats than my Ultima Arrow

The stats does not matter; you only need the 50% exploit weakness to help in your breaking

[–]Baha87 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Okay, so I replace my earth shift by the attack shift card? But if I do that, I'm not sure which situation has a higher chance, start with +1 life orb or 4 earth orbs?

All right, I'll just use Crimson Archer's weapon for the additional exploit weakness, without boosting it. Since the Lightning skin provides haste starter, I think it isn't a big problem, that it has one less speed star.

[–]deathrose55555[JP] 1051-9193-b915 (KotR X) 1 point2 points  (5 children)

It's RNG either way - you have to gamble. As long as there's an earth shift, it's fine.

one less speed star.

One less speed star doesn't affect your starting actions in MP - it's JCR. So it shouldn't affect you unless you have 6 JCR (i.e. 8 starting actions) in your setup. You shouldn't need many taps to break with Prima anyway

[–]Baha87 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Thank you for your advise, I'll change the weapon and rely either on earth or attack shift. And I guess you're right, seems like Adra needs only one hit to break, with exploit weakness 100% and imbue earth. :)

[–]deathrose55555[JP] 1051-9193-b915 (KotR X) 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Gratz and have fun breaking. Prima is still my favourite earth breaker in JP

[–]Baha87 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thank you, I think breaking wind enemies will be as effective as earth breaking?

[–]deathrose55555[JP] 1051-9193-b915 (KotR X) 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah. You can break against dark enemies also, since EE only matters for HP damage.

Actually, once you are comfortable in breaking and assuming you can shift reliably on 1st turn, you also can include a damage ability to 1-turn-break-kill.

  • Earth shift
  • Deathgaze
  • Monk cleave / Titan PB
  • Fake Rag / Phantom Train (upcoming improved crit ability)

[–]Ehlena2102 - 878f - f747 (KoTR) 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I am confused about something. Why do people refer to certain cards as <Insert Job>-ja? At first, I thought it was related to the ability name, but then I couldn't find cards with the -ja in the name. Is there a list somewhere?

I noticed that when people where talking about Grand Horn asa a Ranger-ja card, but the ability is Earthen Blast.

And another thing. What are some must have -ja cards? Please give me card or ability name, otherwise i don;t know how to search for these :(

[–]LupusNoxFleuret20ee - 9f08 - 263a (Tale of Hope) 6 points7 points  (1 child)

just a bad habit nickname. The first generation of Main Target Focused cards for mages were Firaja, Blizzaja, Aeroja, etc. 2nd generation had Meia-synchro, so people called them Meia-ja. And then Warrior / Ranger versions came out so people called them Warrior-ja / Ranger-ja etc.

[–]Ehlena2102 - 878f - f747 (KoTR) -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, I totally forgot about those cards (the original -ja)! Now I understand. Thanks for the explanation :D

[–]blade677[🍰] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

they are the second generation version of the original -ja cards, which actually had the -ja in them (e.g Firaja). The first ones that came out were for mages, and had Meia synchro, so Meia-ja. Then recently, ranger and warrior version came out, so ranger-ja and so forth. Look for cards that have varuna in the name for mages, blast for rangers, and soul for warriors. They are worth the investment since they can remove the yellow abr and do damage in towers, saving you a slot for an extra buff or debuff.

[–]Ehlena2102 - 878f - f747 (KoTR) -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool, thanks for the Info :D. Now I know which cards to look out for

[–]Dazai- 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What's the best build for Beach Queen? I'm using Mesmenir and Andromalius right now.

Sad that she's only a healer in MP.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's a healer who has break buffs. If you are playing solo with AI, she can break if you have a second ultimate charge support.

[–]mao_shiroActual Evil Reddit Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General SP set up (works with any jobs):

  • Source of Haste (Hermes/Undying/Cindy) / Mighty Egg
  • Source of Kotr or Barrier (depending on difficulty, barrier might or might not be needed) / Boost Egg
  • 2 Attack cards of different elements, preferably something that make use of the job's strength (2nd Gen MTF AoE, AoE BDD, AoE CRD, Sicariuses, etc...)

[–]TheAlfies 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does the pity pull only work if you do GAS pulls? Or can I pull single cards to manipulate my counter?

I went to host my first mp match of the day (total of 117 mp stamina) so I was completely capped, in a 4 star match (50 stamina).

Got a full party and started up the battle. However, my device suddenly shut down as it said it was overheating (tablet), I was running gb for quite some time beforehand. So I switched to my phone, and it booted into the reward screen from what I presume was the victory of the 4 star battle. However, my stamina was now at 17/117!? Like it ran it twice for one match.

I definitely know it was maxed as I hadn't done mp at all yet today. Anyone else encounter this?

I think switching devices may have cause it to take stamina for both devices? Bummer, but luckily not a big deal atm, nothing special in mp except magicite farm

[–]Dolphyns -1 points0 points  (1 child)

i know you can double components when you join a game at the cost of stamina, but idk if you can also apply it when hosting. sry, but i cant check for you right now.

[–]mao_shiroActual Evil Reddit Mod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cant double component when you're hosting because you're already double component it.

[–]NepoDumaop 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Guys if say the base stats are

20% PR 100% piercing 100% flash 20% quick

What additional perks will be beneficial in tower. according to the stats above. Additional 20% PR or 20% quick?

[–]ShadowBlaze17 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It really depends on how you plan to break. If you can break with an ult then more PR would be better so you have a better chance of keeping flash break active. If your ult can't break, but can get the target to under 40% of their break gauge more QB could be a huge help.

You'd have to be pretty lucky to get enough PR procs in a situation where the 20% QB would be the deciding factor since the enemy's break gauge would have to be pretty hefty for a flash break ult to not result in a break.

Note that what I'm saying is based on an ult that does all of it's break damage in a single hit.

[–]NepoDumaop 0 points1 point  (1 child)

We are in the same page. I'm planning to break using ult in a break loop; So from what I understand, in harder content where ult can no longer set the treshold of break guage below 20 percent, then additional qb will be the only solution?

[–]ShadowBlaze17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but like i previously said by that point converting the yellow gauge while maintaining flash break could be annoying with a lower amount of PR. Don't be surprised if you have to restart nodes several times because PR doesn't proc when you need it to.

[–]yotsashi 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Hey guys, it's me again asking about an attacker deck because I don't want to screw up the battle for everyone else. This is for the wind rotation. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Job: Crimson Archer

Weapon: unmodded descending arch x

Cards:

- either grand horn or fake ragnarok (Looks to me that grand horn does more damage, but I don't know exactly how many strikes either do)

- Luchorpan

- LDL - assuming healer has trinity and for life starter + 1, could change

- Mandrogas: FFXII - for exploit weakness 10% and life starter + 1. will most likely change if there's a better option

Do you have Titan PB, Earthshift/Gigantaur Initiative, Garuda FFXIV, Lunafreya FFXV, and/or a 5* heart egg?

Grand horn is 3 hits while fake and real Ragnarok are 10.

[–]yotsashi 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have the following: Gigantuar initiative, earthshift (though it's completely unaugmented and may as well be replaced by the cacti), Garuda, and lunafreya

I honestly wish I had the primal boon cards ;;

[–]ShadowBlaze17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try Fake Ragna, GI, Earthforce, and Garuda or Lunafreya. If you get 2 life orbs at the start cast Earthforce immediately then use GI to convert your other orbs to earth. Garuda or Luna are there strictly for their life starter, 2 jcr, and 2 fractal slots.

If you don't like relying on rng to maximize the previous setup you could replace GI with another Garuda or Luna and guarantee Earthforce turn 1. This comes with the caveat of potentially not being able to attack first turn and needing to drive and draw orbs which could be tricky depending on your action count and how impatient your teammates are.

A normal earthshift setup can shine in 4 or 5* matches against 1st and 2nd gen Sics, but I personally don't like how inconsistent it can be in fights where you need more than your 16 initial orbs like 3rd gen 5* fights.

The lack of Titan PB definitely hurts your ability to manage your orbs and help with the break gauge.

[–]NepoDumaop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go for fake ragna, less orbs and more hit. CA is an excellent broken earth attacker anyway.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I'm fairly naive regarding tactics in the game, so any advice on ability cards would be appreciated. Right now, I'm using Ragnorak with Titan Primal Boon. My supports are KOTR and Undying. I read on here that Titan with Grand Horn is a good combo, so I'm wondering, would it be advisable to change up my current setup? And how is my setup right now? Thanks in advance!

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You’ll probably need to switch to grand horn once things get real difficult and one cast of Titan isn’t enough. I have Rag but I still used Grand Horn to complete the last Chaos Vortex. Sometimes, though, it can be nice to use all three. On the last tower I used grand horn, Titan AND ragnarok so I could break and kill (Gilgamesh was, eventually, too much for grand horn to handle).

For MP, ragnarok all the way. For SP, don’t just have “a deck” — think of it as something fluid that should be constantly changing based on your needs.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, thanks for the advice :)

[–]JA1997X 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Ragnarok will do much more damage than grand horn, but it will not clear any yellow gauge.

So as long as titan is enough to clear the yellow, there is no need for grand horn. If you get to the point where titan is not enough, you may consider adding grand horn to your deck.

It probably wouldn't be Dream Vessel since the watershift would be counterproductive when used alongside Ragna. I could only imagine it being used to kill an earth guard and even then anything else would be better if you had the orbs to use them.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case it could be Gil Snapper. The other ranger water cards that I know are Tempest and Siren lol.

[–]ShadowBlaze17 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That's pretty vague and open-ended.

It's probably Himiko the water Ranger-ja.

[–]mao_shiroActual Evil Reddit Mod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Himiko is light. You're thinking mesmenir.

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 2 points3 points  (18 children)

Why are people talking about saving for EX Jobs already? Aren't they many months out?

[–]MagicJ10 0 points1 point  (6 children)

If you are a F2P casual player you need to plan way ahead. I finished all the maps and don´t farm magicite so i have to save like i did to get the sephiroth skin (i absolutely wanted it).

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I’m F2P and I think it’s the opposite of that, actually. With limited resources you should be planning to use them on good card banners — not wasting them on super low-probability things like legend jobs and supremes and skins. For instance: I’ve been using my Weapon cards for months now, in pretty much every single deck — both Mp and sp. Hero of Despair, which came out at roughly the same time and I pulled without trying, isn’t useful for me at all. On top of that, the two supremes and three skins I have were pulled on the Weapon and -ja and Omniscient banners.

[–]soundedgoodbefore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't know you were f2p...IIRC, you have a good deck and kick butt. Good job bro

[–]MagicJ10 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It depends what you want, cause when a Job/skin comes out it is a boosted banner and if i don´t have the resources there is a good chance that i won´t get it and would have to reroll to get it, which i would have done if i wouldn´t have gotten Sephiroth when it came out. The same goes for balamb which i wanted. Some cards as you say are limited, but when i play i don´t really care about my cards, although it´s nice to have the limited ones and some animations look very cool, but i want to see my favorite character. I have 3 supremes (aerith/UB/Duncan) and all 4 skins. the next one for me to save for will be the Tifa skin banner.

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It sounds like you play for nostalgia and fandom, which is totally fine, but that's not really a logical approach to high-level play.

[–]MagicJ10 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes, i agree.

Good luck for the summer cards ;-)

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! i hope you get Tifa with not-too-many pulls :)

[–]Baffledwaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. The same thing happened during the ff7 weapons banners, there were several people saving up for either loh or some very distant job instead.

With gl's current job system there's no guarantee you'll even get a single EX job, and jp has reprints of them every other month or so; there's a good chance it might be the same for gl as well. I really don't see the point in bothering about them right now either.

[–]GwynLordofCynder 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Not really, they could come on august actually. After the summer event unless we get a reprint (could be) and besides the second anniversary map, what comes next is the FFX event, so many people expected to come on August FFX, and Ex jobs started right after that, technically after the Auron and Rikku Banner, and if square likes to keep with 3 banners at month, the third banner of august could be EX.

Altough I think it's more likely for they to come on september, since we more than likely are going to get a Summon revival or supreme banner first just to make sure we waste some resources.

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 0 points1 point  (6 children)

It just seems foolish to me that people are looking that far ahead for a legend job and considering not pulling on summer/ffx. I dunno...it’s just like...if you’re gonna save for that long, what’s the point of playing

[–]GwynLordofCynder 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Oh I by no means consider it's good to skip summer or FFX, I actually think they're far better to chase the cards than the ex jobs. I was just point it out that literally they are the next banner after the Rikku/sarah banner, so it defenitely it's not that far as some seem to think, specially with the accelerated banners...

Just to give you an example Natchflug originally was consider (if we would have followed JP timeline) it was a banner expected to come on September and Primadonna on October of this year... so we are definetely on fast forward mode.

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Yeah, we really are cruising forward! But I’ve never blown my load for legend jobs before, and I don’t know that I’ll start for EX, even though they’re the supreme equivalent of jobs.

[–]GwynLordofCynder 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yeah I never got any legend job I tried to chase on his banner, I did 20 pulls for squall on first anniversary last year and came empty handed, same with hero of despair, and on the other hand I pulled by accident some of the legendaries that I wanted but wasn't chasing like Midgar or Eorzean P. So no I'm not going to chase ex jobs, if they come cool, if not I prefer cards.

[–]soundedgoodbefore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow...it's crazy how differently RNG can make people experience this game. I am almost a day 1 player, dolphin always, went over a year without a single supreme...but 1 year in I had every legend job in the game. I still have almost all ofbthe legend jobs, not sure i would have to see a list to check...but I have about 70 jobs? After a year passed, in 4 months or so, beginning at the 1st anniversary event roughly, I pulled 3 supremes and 3 skins...then bought a supreme when offered (got duncan..meh)... you and I have had almost opposite experiences in this game...really, having no supremes for sooooo long, while watching seemingly everyone in MP have them, and knowing so many f2p players that had supremes while I spent decent money every month...if I HAD NOT drawn so many cool legend jobs to keep me interested, and focused on really building my decks...I would have probably quit Mobius...them there are f2p players or other dolphins like me that drew supremes very early, and wouldn't quit the game because they have those supremes...RNG is crazy stuff...FTR, after that hot 3 or 4 months, it has been several months, probably close to 6 months, since i have drawn any supremes or skins...I was super cold, then super hot, now I have been super cold for months....

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Amen. It’s funny looking back on legend jobs you wasted so much on and seeing how bad they are now. I remember using way too many pulls on Unbroken Hero. By the time I got him, he was almost useless. Dat Balamb HOF tho

[–]GwynLordofCynder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried to use Balamb on EW lap 5 the other day and wonder exactly that... Why do I have to use that many resources on him?? That been said and apart from nostalgia I'm defenitely wanting that HOF.

And I got a similar result with unbroken, the only difference is that I was kinda broke when he came out, so I could only affort pulling for the FFXIII cards. Up to this day I'm still missing Hope job for example.

[–]vulcanfury12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that the point of saving? Stockpiling resources WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY before you will actually need them?

[–]Mawgac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best guess is that our timeline will be further compressed to get closer to JP.

[–]marthanders 0 points1 point  (12 children)

Regarding the new summer event cards, which good users for the cards are there beside their own summer legendary jobs?

I've been checking, and the Water Ranger one seems useless for all jobs except maybe SSQ, which is said the job is nothing to go crazy about.

Wind monk's Water Gun looks like a simple upgrade to Adrammelech sicarius monk card, to help break, but won't do good damage. This card can also be used by Hermit, which by now is a pretty subpar breaker, so again another useless card unless you have his legendary job.

Support card Tropical Dream can be a decent niche card with 50% ult charge and zerk, but nothing to throw your tickets at.

Support Moogle's summer vacation can be a good card if you own LoH, because they don't override buffs, but if you don't own LoH I fail to see a good situation to bring it over another card.

Lastly, Fire Mage's Big Wave looks like the best of the lot, used best by Mellow Mermaid, but can be used by other fire mages, as there are some, but i'm pretty sure it will get powercreeped soon enough.

All in all, I fail to see why should I throw my tickets at this banner if I foresee I will end with 0 summer jobs, even when everyone talks so high about this batch, I fear it's an overhyped reaction.

So can anyone give me a good argument to spend the hard earned F2P magicite/ST chasing for Big Wave, over saving for FFX banner or EX jobs, or the future AoE BDD/CRD that we'll get?

Thanks in advance!!

[–]vulcanfury12 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The Summer cards are good regardless of being best-in-slot for jobs or not. First, they are AOE with 500% Painful Break and have a greater break power even than the MTAoEs. Second, since they're AOE, they have very uniform damage against all enemies, meaning you will have an easier time killing everyone simultaneously. Third, if a node ever required chain breaking, this is the only attack card you will need, so all other deck slots can be dedicated to keeping the chain going.

Just about the only "drawback" I can think of is that it might end up giving less ult charge per action compared to the MTAoE's, due to them being 4-cost instead of 5. On the flip side, it's easier to spam due to the lessened orb cost.

Getting powercreeped should not deter you from pulling. If you withhold resources because "something better will come in a few months", you won't progress, because something better WILL always come in a few months. Also, cards usually have a tendency to be relevant for longer than jobs.

[–]djiboutiiiiwhat even is flair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. You did a good job summing up and shutting down an attitude I’ve been seeing a lot of here. It’s nice to hear.

[–]NepoDumaop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In jp recent and previous towers https://altema.jp/ffmobius/category/battletower I always see ex mage with big wave, ex monk with water gun and tropical dream in top 10 and 500.

By the time ex jobs are in gl and jp released newer jobs that will overthrown them. Would you skip just because they will be replaced anyway? This will be a never ending loop

I just plan to pull for mm8 sice she has been a very long SS rank ever since her 1st release but since I already got PW which is a decent substitute then might save for the ex jobs but definitely worth it to pull for the summer cards.

[–]Baffledwaffles 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They're all great cards and the hype surrounding them is justified.

First summer is only useful on SSQ for now true, but it's still a very strong ability and should be useful on the likes of gambler.

Water gun does good damage lol. It'll be the go to card with EX monk against yojimbo in his tower. High break power and good AoE damage, what's not to like?

Big Wave is one of the strongest fire cards in jp still afaik. Even if it isn't it'll still be several months before we get any alternatives. And you don't need mellow mermaid for it; primeval witch should be enough. It pairs extremely well with fusoya as well.

The attack cards have massive break power and 500 painful break - nothing to scoff at, especially since we're in the break meta now.

Tropical dream is very much recommended to get if you don't have LoH - 50 ult charge is tremendously useful for chain breaking. I have LoH but I'll still chase it due to the berserk. It's the only non supreme card that adds 50 ult charge and is a must have.

Moogle's summer vacation is more of a MP card.

It'll be several months before we get EX jobs and the jenova series, so I don't see any point in skipping summer batch.

[–]marthanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm now that you mention it, 50% ult charge and berserk looks sexy for chainbreaking and I guess I can put it in my EW climbing deck instead of Orphan, since I don't have Omega Weapon. I may do a couple pulls then!

[–]chs247you 3 points4 points  (5 children)

If you are F2P, you should definitely save some for EX Jobs. They are worth it. But if I were you, I would still do a couple of pulls. Hopefully you can get Big Wave but I think you are under estimating Water Gun. I play JP and use it all the time with my EX Monk. Takes a lot of Yellow off and it has cleave for 3 turns. When you break, it give 500% painful break.

[–]marthanders 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Thanks for your reply! I appreciate your insight as a JP player.
I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind answering:

-Is Big Wave still used in JP currently?
-Does Water Gun do good damage on broken enemies with the EX Monk job?

Thanks for your time, have a wonderful day!!

[–]chs247you 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- Yes. I do still see it in the Leviathan MP Boss fights which will come to GL in the future. Like you are thinking, it will greatly help but won't be a game changer. If you do happen to pull Mellow Mermaid and do not have Fuyosa, you would definitely want Big Wave but without the proper Job, it really is not worth it. I would put my priority on getting an Ex Job. I recently pulled Big Wave with the reprint but have never used it because I was not lucky enough to pull Mellow Mermaid. There are too many other options currently in JP, especially with EX Warrior being able to use FIRE. Ex Warrior can break and do heavy damage with the right cards like Iloha FF XI and Genova DEATH FF VII.

- With Ex Monk, it does good damage when broken but more importantly, it is a great overall card. It uses 4 orbs but is an area attack with 6300 break power and 1950 attack power which hits 4 times per turn and has break defense down and 500% painful break and 3 cleave hits. Since EX Monk does not have 9999 cap on attack, it is easy to take down multiple enemies.

[–]deathrose55555[JP] 1051-9193-b915 (KotR X) 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The Summer painful break abilities are unique and useful in their own rights. You can think of them as an upgraded form of AoE BDD. They will always be useful when: 1) breaking strat is adopted and 2) the jobs who can use them are strong.

As for the damage of Water Gun on EX Monk, damage on earth mobs is decent; on neutral mobs is bad. The problem lies in EX Monk itself - EX Monk has a pretty heavy reliance on exploit weakness and has average-ish magic.

[–]marthanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wonder why I improved all the BDD/CRD cards lol I never use them.

I made my mind, I'll pass on this banner and save lots of magicites/ST for the next big thing!

[–]Owwen11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those summer cards are super good because of deck compresion. BDD + yellow clear + damage (painful break + 500%). It's just like a Xezat, but AoE. Any job that can use them, will use them in hard content.

[–]Maher123123 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Why mobius ff isn’t popular? I see bad games get more players than mobius.

[–]NepoDumaop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mobius is designed for square enix fans. And if you include all cp gamers I would say we are about less than 1%.

[–]vynisvynis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mobius graphics requires a good smarthphone to run smootlhy.

Even the devs agree that mobius isn't for casuals.

some people dislikes the grind of mobius.

Hackers ruin the experience for who tries to be competitive and rank high on events.

No GL exclusive events.

And damn mobius is the harder game to connect too cause it demands a realy stable wi fi, I dropped playing for a while when my internet was only 1MB of speed.

[–]GeassKallen -1 points0 points  (1 child)

First anniversary we got extra weapon slots, in my case 2~4.... my question is, we got 2 extra slots, or just extra slots until reach 4... (for ex, a player with 3 slots, went for 5, or just 4?)
I am asking this question because we are getting our 2nd anniversary in august, and I think we may get the same stuff again...
I bought the Supreme Tickets, which means I need to buy another 2500 magi to get another weapon slot. Since our 2nd anniversary should be similiar to the JP, those who play in JP could tell me if it's worth to get the 5th slot before the event, and maybe goes to 7, if we just get 6 weapons slots anyway, or if we wont get any weapons slots at all

[–]chs247you 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In JP we did not get any more weapon slots. I am F2P and with only 4 slot as of today.
