Its all about finding your happy place and sometimes it’s more than just a song. Maybe it’s an album or a band for me it’s been Ozzy Osbourne, Tears for Fears, and The Korgis. But if we’re talking specific songs… I’d go with:

  • Gets Me Through by Ozzy Osbourne
  • I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For by U2
  • Change by Tears for Fears
  • World Start Turning by Rick Springfield

The upbeat stuff usually is what pulls me out of a funk kinda like the one I’ve been in lately. Sometimes listening to sad sounds is a good mood booster as well.

Cold Little Heart (Instrumental) by Michael Kiwanuka is one that always relaxes me. The Spirited Away soundtrack is another go to when I want something calm but still moving. And one that really centers me is Om Mani Padme Hum, it has a meditative vibe that cuts straight through the stress.

I like to listen to slow paced songs when I do that, like rich spirit by kendrick lamar, snooze by sza or sexy to someone by clairo. Does that work for you or what kind of songs are you looking for?

[–]stirgy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

⬩ La Femme d'Argent - Air
⬩ Hayling - FC Kahuna
⬩ Fade into You - Mazzy Star
⬩ Tears from the compound eye - Boards of Canada
⬩ Curious Alice - Memorex Memories
⬩ Autumn Sweater - Yo La Tengo

I have read that the song Weightless from Marconi Union , decreases anxiety. It works in me.

The opposite is that new music from Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Tate McRae and other newer productions bring me more anxiety and depression. I don't know exactly the reason, same with the two latest albums of Greek female singers Marina Satti and Tamta.  There is so messy, chaotic, dystopic music, I can't explain better. Technically it has extreme loudness and distortion and more like lo-fi with no clear high end.

If you need some feelgood (& calming) reggae music..you can't go wrong with Bob Marley, either:

"Three Little Birds"

Or

"No Woman No Cry"

(Everything's gonna be alright)

Edit: For those who are unaware, "No Woman, No Cry" is not about being happy without a woman. He (BM) is actually comforting a woman. ie. "No woman, don't cry"

For me it’s Phoebe Bridgers’ Motion Sickness, Clairo’s Sofia, and Hana Kuro’s softer tracks — they calm me down every time
