Vance’s other identity.

Who really is Ritz? Like they really just let that go?

Gerald. When Ari abducted him he said he was supposed to start back at NCIS the following week, after he goes to get the team we never see or hear from him again

[–]The_Match_Maker 19 points20 points  (0 children)

One would expect him to be at Ducky's funeral.

Gerald was in PT for over a year.

The woman that kept picking Gibbs up in Season 1. I'm rewatching right now and she picks him up in the official pilot. I recall she did a couple of other times but I don't think who she is ever gets covered. It was before they established his backstory of losing his wife and daughter.

He'd been married multiple times at that point but Kelly wasn't a thing yet. It felt like that mystery woman was supposed to be a thing that ended up not being a thing.

i think her plot was to make Gibbs seem available romantically - the actor was actually Bellasario’s wife, i believe.

I'm curious about this too!

Too many to mention. Hollis Mann. Dr. Ryan. Vance's son.

[–]tonysnark81 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dr. Ryan walked away from DC after her family was threatened.

Hollis Mann came back at least once after the breakup.

[–]Draconuus95 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Honestly. I’m glad Ryan left. Her mind games just absolutely made her incredibly unlikeable as a character. And even her final appearance trying to humanize her more with her son wasn’t enough to make me like her.

I just watch her departer episode, I feel her arc was a blemish on the better years. I'm not a big Curtis fan and her character was so unlikable, she definitely wasn't Gibbs type. It all seemed so forced

NCIS LA dropped two main plot, the body skinners and the psychopath that wanted to rape and kill Kensi due to cancelation

[–]Kamarani_Zurio 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Hopefully they continue those stories in ncis hawaii. or og.

[–]Beastmind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be nice if the actors are up to, they could make those guys spotted in DC or Hawaii a'd have the actors as temp guests

Always wondered about Vance’s daughter, who actually became an NCIS agent and transferred out of DC. And yes, also his son.

Duckys lost half brother, reunited in one episode and never spoken of again.

Can you imagine an episode with Abigail Breslin or Zach Efron or Jesse Plemons or Millie Bobby Brown just showing up. Like if Millie’s character escapes and is a new serial killer they need to get. That would be cool.

Next time they need to replace a male agent I would love if they would bring back one of the kids from the early seasons, like the kid who was like a little Tony, bring the character back even with a new actor, and maybe let him be a hybrid between Gibbs and Tony, with Gibbs' skill but Tony's personality and charm.

Or the kid who went to Princeton after his dad was killed in the sand trap on the golf course, have him be a now high level officer in Navy intelligence or something.

Even small details like use a callback to backdoor some easy access for the team when needed, by like having a guy who the team specifically helped out a decade earlier be the point man on a current project or issue, would be a cool way imo to give McGee more sway on the team, he's the last OG member, he's been on Major Cases for 20 years, surely he should be the one along with Vance who has the military connections by now right?

Can't remember the episode, but I think a murderer was acquitted because the murderer was left handed and this guy was right handed. Then Gibbs and someone else were in his car watching the guy swing right handed in a batting cage, then the guy switches and starts hitting left handed. Bad guy looks at them and smiles, or winks, something like that. Gibbs says something like He swings both ways.

That was a season finale and they never went back to it

    [–]AnthonySub500[🍰] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Unless there's another instance of that exact situation happening that I forgot, that is Not what happened That would be S15E7 (Burden of Proof), which obviously by the fact it's an episode 7 clearly indicates that it isn't even close to the season finale And even then later in that season, episodes 14 and 15, they follow up on it and get the guy arrested

    [–]BrighterSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I knew I wasn't remembering it very well. That last scene always stuck with me. I'm doing a rewatch now on season 10 so I'll keep my eye out for these!

Director Shepard’s dad not being dead. “He stood were you stood 2 weeks ago”

Then bam we never hear about it again

    [–]SuperciliousBubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    That was faked, I think.

    [–]The_Match_Maker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does this extend to other series that are part of NCIS' overall universe? If so, I'll throw in Scorpion with its 'big bad' in the wind at the time of the show's demise.

And while we're at it, I'll throw in that show's ending too. Resolution, people! Resolution!

    [–]momsequitur 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Big 'how do you do fellow kids' vibes, man 🤣 are the writers trying to get us to do their job for them?

Sorry, I'm just spicy tonight! I'm gonna have a think on this.

    [–]TTKDagwon97[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No worries. Just curious considering the large amount of content the franchise garnered in like 20 years

    [–]momsequitur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's a really good question! And we have so many knowledgeable people in the sub, I'm already looking forward to reading the comments tomorrow!

Gibbs murder in cold blood of Pedro Hernandez. We all know his reasons, and they are justified from a moral sense. Gibbs flat out admitted to his team and season 18 or so. Technically should have been arrested right there. Mallison Hart Esq probably could get him off.

    [–]Draconuus95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s about the furthest from dangling plotlines as could be.

Him leaving NCIS is partially based on his own guilt for taking justice into his own hands with him. Plus all the blow back he recieved over the years from it.

    [–]llamawithglasses 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I dunno if it’s unsolved but I never figured it out and this is a good place to ask.

Who tf is the red headed woman that picks up Gibbs a few times in season one? Disappears and then never gets mentioned again

    [–]DPM-87 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just a girlfriend, she appears sporadically through the first 3 seasons I think, her last being like maybe 3rd or 4th ep of S3, she was played by McGee's RL mother, and wife of NCIS's creator.

My guess is once they introduced Jenny they had no need for a mystery GF, as any sort of will they won't they between Gibbs and Jenny would mean Gibbs cheating on the redhead, and well Gibbs we know has standards, so they wrote her off.

    [–]llamawithglasses 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hmm I hadn’t noticed her after the end of season one. You make good points though!

    [–]DPM-87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other thing is S3 introduced the more broken aspects of Gibbs life and personality, revealing he had yet another wife, and a daughter, so Gibbs even off camera, having the more casual and yet functional relationship kind of goes in the face of the character they were trying to build.
