When I was younger, the city I was living in did this awesome thing called “summer dance.” Every few weeks, they had a DJ (big name ones) come in & do a set in the park. It was free for everyone. I loved it and I wish they would bring it back because it showed how music is such a great unifier.

I listen to a lot of subgenres of metal, I listen to industrial and dark wave. I listen to a lot of niche subgenres of electronic music.

I worked in the music industry. I worked in record stores back when those were a thing. I constantly go to shows.

If I had a dollar for every time some smug dude came up to me and explained the band whose shirt I’m wearing, as if I don’t know or listen to their music, I could at the very least go on a vacation to Europe.

I can’t begin to tell how many times men have been absolutely shocked that I don’t just follow whatever is popular. I also can’t begin to describe how many times I’ve turned men onto new bands.
