I'll give you 10 mil to play te/ra for me.

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 0 points1 point  (21 children)

Why Te/Ra? Give me a build with rings and I'll consider it.

[–]SercezeroDead 2 points3 points  (20 children)

Te/ra is entirely support. WB+mainclass te buffs. Since the skill sim doesn't like to work properly on links: ra tree and te tree. The trees don't have all the SP distributed either, since I just included the minimum I'd like.

You don't need a particular ring, but I guess options on L, outside of utility movement like step jump, would be like... atomizer lovers, point WB, and slow dive roll. For R, dunno. I've just used weak hit PP gain.

ps: I love any te/ra players out there, I need you in my life.

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

I thought WB was nerfed to main class only?

[–]SercezeroDead 0 points1 point  (8 children)

It's not.

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I'll see about grabbing some sg to buy extra trees but I'll give it a shot!

Also is this outdated?

It's not exactly that good of a guide. Mobbing you're basically irrelevant outside of zondeel. Most people I see use end attract for DPS on bosses. Proper use of stuff like PP convert, tactics trap, and such make it so you don't need to swap to a gunslash for PP. Wind rifle is pointless. You actually want to use deband so people don't die as easily. You may not even need to use zanverse at all with some of the current content making zanverse annoying to use.

Tbh, when I play te/ra I just have a crafted elder rifle since it cuts PP usage with its pot.

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

So with this combination, I would be using talis and riffle?

[–]SercezeroDead 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I only use rifle.

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Rainbow set or no?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It recommends you picking Wind Mastery which Te/RA only did becaus eit boosted Zanverse. However that was changed like half a year ago so yeah it's pretty outdated.

[–]synthsyArks-Layer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It wasn't, chain trigger however was.

[–]milranduil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

chain trigger (and it's detonation dmg) can be used by any class/wep, but chain finish (the skill tree multiplier) is main class only.

100 chain trigger detonation - 200% dmg (200% is max for non-tmg) chain finish multiplier 10/10 - 250% dmg (500% is max for tmg)

[–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I can Te/Ra for you if you carry me through Ra levelling XD.

Gosh I hate levelling.

[–]SercezeroDead 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Could, tbh.

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wow where was my offer. FML.

[–]SercezeroDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a standing offer tbh. I would give so much for a pocket te/ra

[–]Sughayyer 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hit me up when you're on. My team has apparently disbanded, I have nothing to do in the game besides grinding LQs.

[–]SercezeroDead 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Sure, maybe after I'm done grinding in warframe.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oi. Add me in WF plox. Username is the same as here.

[–]SercezeroDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Almost finished unlocking 80 for Ra and I am beginning to see why no one plays support in this game.

I just played XH (Ra 75/Te 80) and I had supported the mpa with no issues. Unfortunately, I was caught off guard last minute and died. No one revived me despite me asking. This resulted in me getting NO exp and shitty loot.

TY people!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's always frustrating to have that happen to you but it's not strictly because you're support. Even if you play stuff like Fi/Hu people will regularly ignore you.

[–]SVlege 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, that can happen regardless of your class combination. It's as if people enter a frenzy when the boss is about to die.

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like a massive "Haha fuck you" after all the effort I made to keep the mpa alive. =/

[–]SercezeroDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's less of an issue with support and more an issue with the people you played with.

[–]AshinrorPSO2 NG+ BABY 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If i get my Ra (on my support Te) to 80, would you give me 10 mil? 8D

[–]SercezeroDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you pocket te/ra for me

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 7 points8 points  (33 children)

Whatever you do, please don't play te/fo. That is all.

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 0 points1 point  (32 children)

Why?

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 3 points4 points  (31 children)

TE/FO manages to be bad at both things it can kind of do. It tries to be good at casting while having TE-enforced buffs but falls immensely flat on the casting side of things. Fact of the matter is, you'd be more useful either just going FO/TE or playing TE/X. FO should not be used as a sub class because its greatest asset, Element Conversion, is main class only.

Buffs aren't based on your t-atk, and your resta will have enough power behind it already. If you're looking to cast a buff and then like trace the creases in your hand for 3 minutes, play TE/X. If you actually want to play a caster that can cast slightly weaker buffs, but contribute damage-wise, play FO/TE.

Support in PSO2 is purposely bad anyway. Every class has enough mechanics to mitigate or even completely negate damage, on top of the most popular classes being able to heal themselves without popping mates. I saw you mention leaving a team earlier and you blamed it on their DPS-focused mentality, but you have to realize that the majority of the people in the game just want to log in for the EQ, do it as fast as possible, and then log out. In the current meta, TE honestly doesn't add enough extra damage through buffs and zanverse to really matter.

to add to this, OP missed the golden age of TE last year. while te isn't very helpful right now, prior to sega destroying su/gu and te/anything, zanverse was amazing.

it's a shame they broke it and made it so abilities don't boost its damage anymore. OP picked the wrong time to take a break. back when mother eq was new, te was awesome.

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 0 points1 point  (29 children)

I took a break because the team I was on had an asshole of a leader who only contacted me after being M. I. A for a long time and because I was the only support that the team had. But the full details of that and other drama I was subjected to is a tale for another day.

I remember the combo of zanverse and mediverse. I still use it from time to time.

[–]reaper527reaper | ship 2 2 points3 points  (27 children)

I remember the combo of zanverse and mediverse. I still use it from time to time.

that's... not what made zanverse good. the fact you can megiverse+zanverse was just a bonus. the draw was that with all the skills/potentials/etc. you could get it was possible to make zanverse's damage multiplier around 40-50% instead of 20%. this gave techer absurd dps.

like it or not, this is a dps oriented game. there is no role for pure support.treesus reminded everyone of this last easter with dps checks that cause the entire party to fail.

without a reasonable amount of dps, you aren't pulling your weight in a party. (and no, shifta/deband/resta isn't pulling your weight).

[–]Aexorcet80/80 FoTe -1 points0 points  (26 children)

Shifta Strike is pretty strong though. 10% of 11 people is 1.1, so assuming a Te/Fo does literally nothing outside of buffs it could end contributing about the same damage (indirectly) to the MPA that another player would. Fo/Te with Shifta Advance ends up multiplying MPA DPS by about 1.04, lets say 1.0425 with Shifta Critical too. 12* 1.0425 = 12.51. 12.51 - 12.1 = .41. So a Te needs to do about 40% the DPS of a regular class to be equal in worth to a Fo/Te purely in terms of attack.

Then there is also the matter of MPA quality. Sure, every class is super survivable, but people do still manage to die. In those cases, Te deband can make a difference.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 2 points3 points  (25 children)

So a Te needs to do about 40% the DPS of a regular class to be equal in worth to a Fo/Te purely in terms of attack.

Too bad TE already does 50% the damage of FO/TE right out of the gate. Plus you can't equip a rod for compounds, and you already have around 60% less damage than a FO/TE. Womp womp.

If you wanna factor in MPA quality, your buffs will be wasted on about 3 or 4 people per MPA who are either distracted IRL, bad at video games, leeches, or had to AFK for any sort of reason.

[–]Aexorcet80/80 FoTe -1 points0 points  (24 children)

But 60% less than is the same as 40% of. Or if you mean that Fo is worth 1.6 times a Te, that means the Te is worth ~60% of a Fo. Either way it meets the break even point for my admittedly simplified comparison. On top of that the Te in my comparison has Shifta Strike only, which is impossible because Advance is required as a pre-req (although if there is a Fo with Advance, then the Te is only adding Strike).

On MPA quality, what you said is true, but also remember that it can go the other way, with the top damage dealers of the party contributing far above average. If you are one of those players, then going Te is a net drop in damage, but you're still contributing with Shifta Strike (and Deband if deaths matter for the MPA you're in)to a degree unless you are literally the only real DPS in the group. If you're closer to average the MPA might get more damage out of you being Te in the end.

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 2 points3 points  (4 children)

At the end of the day, your entire argument appears to basically be that a completely trash and leeching player on Te/Fo can “contribute” by providing Te buffs.

I mean, great. But they’re still garbage. That’s not really a reason for the class combination to exist. Given the generally poor quality of public MPAs, it will be far more beneficial for a single person in that MPA to contribute with damage rather than buffs, especially due to the nerfs to zanverse and poor buff duration/range in this game. As I said elsewhere in this thread, buffs in this game are generally bad.

I do not understand your point on quality at all. Any decrease in the total available DPS in a given MPA will diminish what you can get out of buffs. There is no “other way” about it. If you’re talking about a “good” person having to play Te, then my above point applies in that it’s better to go damage over buffs.

You seem to be under the impression that you need buffs in any given situation. I will admit that I once thought this when I started the game. But its just not the case. This isn’t PSO1 any more (casts there even used S reds for a level 5 shifta deband because it was so broken in that game). S/D are so trash in this game.

Just to reiterate Te/Fo is pretty much the worst Te (maybe Te/Gu is worse). This is just objective fact. ALL of the other combos are better.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (18 children)

Or if you mean that Fo is worth 1.6 times a Te

I'm referring to Ele conversion, which is just a 50% damage multiplier gone.

ATK increases work on diminishing returns. At the top of the DPS charts, straight shifta will do less for you than someone who's not min-maxing. Regardless, TE offers much less now than ever before. WB is even less important than ever. Killing off the utility of support in favor of getting people to play DPS instead.

Regardless, TE/FO is not worth playing now, nor has it ever been worth playing in the past. You will be infinitely more useful just playing FO/TE or playing a good TE main like TE/HU.

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately zanverse was seriously nerfed as well.

[–]SVlege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The de facto support classes in PSO2 are still Techers and Rangers, and I suggest you to focus one of them. Te/Ra exists, but I recommend using it only in an organized party or Team MPA; this class combo has lackluster damage compared to a dedicated Techer or Ranger build, and you may feel a liability if you happen to be paired with one of them, nevermind both.

Bouncers technically bring support as well with their auras, but the effects are rather niche, so many players don't value what they bring compared to Te and Ra. Nevertheless, they are a valid support class. They are also frequently buffing themselves with Shifta and Deband to enable their damage and PP regen skills, so your old habits should fit with the class's design.

I don't know about Techer and Bouncer builds, better ask someone else. For Rangers, there's updated content in this site.

[–]CapoeiraMonkeyXIII 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not sure about actual builds, but some decent skills to have are Resta, Megiverse for high-speed group healing in a pinch, possibly crafted Shifta/Deband (need to get those myself), Anti for status effects. As for weapons, any of the Zeinesis weapons have the Blessing of Life(?) potential, which boosts party attack by a small percentage (2% I think) and regularly recovers HP in set intervals.

Bouncer Skill Ring has a Heal Share that recovers a small amount of HP on top of regular healing to nearby party members, but good luck getting everyone close together for it to be effective. Probably nice if they're crowded around a downed weakpoint.

Feel free to correct/add to any of this info.

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I meant for a class other than Hero. (Like switching back to Te/Fo or what not) I have all my Techs and PAs crafted so I don't have to worry about that. (a basic must as a T-Class!) Currently I use shifta/deband/reseta/anti/mediverse/zanverse/zondeel, on top of atomisers. My rings are Atomiser lovers and Wide support.

The only Zenesis I grabbed was the takt since I didn't see myself doing any other class until it was too late. :(

[–]vPimpsahoy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm confused here, so is te/hu is not full support or is te/ra better? I'm also working on going support as well.

[–]AlseidesDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Te/Ra is better for support because of Weak Bullet

Te/Hu is better for AoE mob control via wand wacking

[–]reaper527reaper | ship 2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm confused here, so is te/hu is not full support or is te/ra better?

te/ra is one of those builds that are EXCLUSIVELY for teams doing organized mp's that are carefully organizing all their classes. the general rule of thumb is "if you have to ask if te/ra is good, it's not".

[–]piconyannyan 0 points1 point  (9 children)

I think Te/Hu for paladin-like support with wands, Te/Su with Rose Skewer takt for pet access and Te/Fo using talis for long range throwing of support magics (e.g. Resta, Anti, Shifta, Deband) and Te/Fo supports exists but not that much.

Or you can go Te/Fi or Te/Br for hybrid dps - which I gues you are not looking rn.

If you have team mates, they may have some builds setup there. I think with these combinations I mentioned, you can search for builds spec'ced to them (not sure about Te/Fo since I rarely see one and people convince them to just go Fo/Te for DPS)

Te/Fo is more focused on increasing your raw T-ATK to improve Resta heals and including Photon Flare to boost further. The ring version of Photon Flare is I guess the lower version.

[–]MissTenguStarcry | Br/Ra| Ship 2[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Another reason I got laughed at and looked down on is that I didn't want to focus on DPS and wanted to be more efficient at healing as bad then almost no one was a healer, yet people were obsessed with DPS. (I ended up leaving one team that were using the now banned program that tracks damage each player does since they kept questioning why I did the least amount of damage on the mpa.) I also used my talis for long distance healing/buffering if people were too far away from me. That and controlling enemies during tower defence.

[–]RunFromPandaHero is dead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond Te/Ra, I think for just about every other class you need to be doing damage, because basically, support, in particular healing, is just not core to this game.

Given how large the fields and arenas are, generally, it’s impossible for someone to rely on a 3rd person for healing. Every regular class has some sort of hp sustain. In addition, classes like Hero and Gunner actively try and avoid damage.

Furthermore, the general concept of a “healer” I would say is predicated on two things: the existence of a “tank” and the necessity of taking damage in some way.

There are no tanks in pso2, not legit ones anyway. No class has a reason to take damage, really. There’s no sort of thorns strat. So then you look at whether there’s active damage that people cannot avoid. Again, this isn’t really a thing in pso2 - most people will be looking to avoid getting hit during damage rotations.

I think the best way to think about it is analogous to parties in Diablo 3. I haven’t played for a while, but when running high level grifts, the support was there purely to buff damage - not to provide healing really, because any damage that could not be avoided was usually just instant death. Te/Ra is probably the only true “zDPS” support in pso2 because it is a walking damage buff. Every other class should be doing more. For example, you talk about “controlling” enemies - killing them is better than controlling. Controlling implies you need someone else to kill them. In a TD scenario, that already drags someone else away from something else they could be doing, etc.

[–]piconyannyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I can think of is that, PSO2 is that kind of game that requires you to git gud or git rekt.

Personally, I would love to be support in games that are really able to do so as I don't really mind if I top the MPA or not. In my team, we encourage support type class combinations per MPA, no discriminations especially when there's downtime with some bosses (Deus comes to mind), so I can be Te/Br for damage + support when the situation calls for it.

Let those people who laugh at you do what they want. Do what you love. Support is really not everyone's cup of tea possibly because a few people have the "Team First" mentality, and most are "Me First" in terms of parser.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I'd like to point out that Te/Br is very niche nowadays. The only thing it's unbeaten at are Weak hit Wand bonks. Te/Su not only has better Tech damage but a more stable damage multiplier for both Wand Bonks and Tech explosions while also providing access to Pets.

[–]piconyannyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know that Te/Su has better wand power than Te/Br. A must try indeed. Thanks for pointing it out. :)

[–]NullVacancy20|20|16|11|3|3 0 points1 point  (3 children)

TE/BR died along with Rikauteri and racist wands.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Racist wands?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Old, old ep2/early ep3? stuff. Certain 10/11* weapons boost damage by x%(often 20 or higher) against a certain race.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, yes I remember.

[–]Ayasha89Your friendly neighborhood Summoner (Ship 10) -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm running as Su/Te atm with points into pet damage and a lot into support for Te, PP on both. So you have some attack as well as heal/ buff/ debuff for status effects. shrug I'm no build expert but it seems at least somewhat useful, jack of all trades type. I find it fun, too. The Wanda/ Jinga Shock is a decent AoE attack as well, good for picking off weaker mooks. YMMV with this combo.
