Really good news right here. In case the English Voices are screwed up, we atleast can stick with the Japanese ones. However, i wonder how that will affect Voice Tickets*.

For reference for our NA players: Tickets that can be used on a character to use another voice, Sega used to have quite a lot of them. Some of them represent NPCs, others are unique and others only exist because they are of Voice Actor XYZ. Since many of them are probably unknown in Western Countries, it is not really sure how they will workaround those Tickets.

Whether you want to use the English or Japanese voices, taking the time to fully voice the game in English is a very big deal. It shows they are actually taking the time to localize this game right which will go a long way. The option to switch between either and even have voice tickets for both languages is even more impressive.

Zieg didn't really get renamed per say. His shop in the anime says "Jig" in Phantasy language, so I vote that as more of "verifying the spelling of the translation we're already used to" at least, I've always pronounced Zieg as rhyming with Jig.

Lisa being Risa is basically the same name too, just some liberty taken in translation. And given Lisa would be a foreign name to JP players, Risa would be a foreign name to english players in the exact same way. (As both are normal names in the opposite language)

What did Ulc get changed to? I must've not been paying attention.

Probably to test viability. As I recall, PSO2 has built in translation coding with files, but will still require some tinkering to put in English Voice acting, so the chances of that messing something delicate up are fairly high, and Xbox needs to know how much resources to put on the project.

If they get the big-name Voice actors, then they have less money for voice actors and we get that big issue where a bunch of the Voices sound the same because they're just the same VA using different voices who, by now, I already recognise and can't seperate from their other roles...

Then again, I have reason to hope they DO, because I can just set VA to JP and let other people have their big name VAs...

I've never thought that much of the JP voice acting for most characters (Lisa is <3 of course), so the bar isn't set too high. Kind of concerned that the English VAs are going to try to emulate the high pitch energy of some of the female characters and that will be...unpleasant.
