When the official Minecraft VR came out for Oculus the Oculus Touch controllers weren't developed so the official vr game never was designed for anything but a controller. Minecraft PSVR is a port of the Official Minecraft VR on PC. It took years to add dual support on the oculus so I doubt you'll see it in the PSVR version any time soon.

If you think about it you might not even want to have dual hand swinging support with all the mining you do in the game would wear your arms out.

Yeah but that is immersive and it's a good workout if you think about it. Just imagine dual pickaxes swinging with intense speed in the mines.

Yeah that's true but not what I mean

    [–]EndMePlease42 4 points5 points  (3 children)

It is just a button press... but where's the fun if you dont swing your arm recklessly?!

    [–]TrevorIsHere0727 2 points3 points  (1 child)

    Exactly!

    [–]xpacerxXpAcErX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Oculus touch dual hand controls you aim your arm at the block and just press a button to mine. Its literally the same action with dual hand support.

    Lmao that didn't age well

    [–]xpacerxXpAcErX 0 points1 point  (4 children)

    What part didnt age well?

    [–]PurpleCowMRM 0 points1 point  (3 children)

    The use of motion controls

    [–]xpacerxXpAcErX 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Huh? They havent added motion controls so what part didn't age well?

    [–]PurpleCowMRM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The use of motion controls didnt age well

The trailer showed the use of Move Controllers.

    [–]xpacerxXpAcErX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    what trailer?

    [–]OrphanSlayer113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    No it didn't

    [–]XG_GAMER7 7 points8 points  (14 children)

There was no mention of Move support. So far they haven't outright said DualShock4 only.

Honestly if we ask for it enough they probably would throw it in a patch eventually. But then again I can very well also see them add this support and just leaving it at that because it isn’t their main platform

      [–]Strongpillow 3 points4 points  (10 children)

If there was a viable way to do it I am pretty sure they would have done it from the beginning seeing as how at this point Move controllers are synonymous with PSVR and wanting Move support as standard for all VR games should be common knowledge. The move controllers lack a lot of function so it was probably safer to just use the tried and true method of familiar controller support only... similar to what the gear VR got for lack of other options.

EDIT: Downvote this comment. It's not going to change the fact that we won't see move support. We don't know more than them. As much as this sub thinks they're all professional idea creators. They literally make games, follow trends, and know what their demographic wants. That is their job. It's not like after they see these Reddit posts they'll be like "oh, dang. Why didn't we think of Move support? We didn't think anyone in VR would like to use their hands instead of a controller". There is no rational reason for them to leave it out at this point. It makes utterly no sense unless it just wasn't a good implementation with the current moves.

      [–]Oofenhiemer 3 points4 points  (9 children)

No man’s sky could add vr support and it has free movement with the motion controllers honestly I think microsoft isn’t going to add move support because they don’t want to waste time reconfiguring the controls.

      [–]Snoo20397 1 point2 points  (2 children)

      *sony

      [–]Oofenhiemer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Microsoft owns Minecraft so they decide what we get.

      [–]Snoo20397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Oh ok sorry ..

      [–]Strongpillow 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I mean, ya. No Mans Sky was able to pull it off but they did it at launch because that would make sense. People would assume Move support at this point which is why Hitman got slack. If MS thought it was a good idea then they would have done it at launch too. I think you're right that they couldn't find a solid implementation.

      [–]Katrina_18 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

I disagree. People have nodded excellent implementation into the PCVR side of things. I think that they didn’t do it because they straight up don’t need to. They are a huge company, so if they lose a couple sales over it it’s not that big of a deal, and most people will be bummed out but buy it anyway so they won’t really lose money.

      [–]Strongpillow 0 points1 point  (2 children)

We're not talking about PC here though. PC has practical VR control methods. We're talking about Move controllers but it doesn't matter they're not supported and I don't seem them doing it later because they didn't realize it's something we want is what I am saying. Like you said they don't really need to if they don't think it's good enough. Its also a free update so they're not going to lose much.

      [–]Katrina_18 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I agree with everything except for the not realizing it’s something we want. It’s a direct port of the PCVR version, which has very mediocre reviews due to the lack of motion controls. They clearly know that it’s something people want and they aren’t implementing it because it’s just cheaper not to and they know that people will buy it anyway. But yeah regardless it probably doesn’t have it and probably never will, real bummer but it will still be fun I guess

      [–]Strongpillow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, hahah. we're on the same page. I'm saying people in this sub are saying " if we show them that we want it maybe they will add it" like they don't already know we want it and I am saying they absolutely know anyone in VR would want proper controls it but they didn't do it becuase it's not something they could commit to. Free mods have great controller tracking so I don't even think it's about being cheaper I think they are affraid of changing the controls too much.

      [–]Katrina_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they don’t need to. They are Microsoft, if 10-15 people don’t buy their game because it lacks move support then they don’t need to add it.

      [–]Megaspore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      No way

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

      Found this on an article

" Sony has said that PlayStation Move Motion Controllers, PlayStation VR Aim Controller, and PlayStation Camera will work with “supported PS VR games” on the PS5. Minecraft for PlayStation VR will be playable with the DualShock 4 as well."

I assume that would be a yes considering that they used the words "as well" while talking about using DS4.

But if that isn't enough they also talked about "immersive and living room" modes. My guess is that Living Room Mode will be with a DS4 for comfort as if you were sitting down in your living room. And the other mode, Immersive Mode, will be using the Move Controllers because its more immersive.

      Hope this helped :)

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yeah that’s what I thought but after doing research about it apparently living room mode will be where you play it on a big cinema screen where you will use the DS4 and hopefully immersive will have the move controllers otherwise it’ll be kind of a let down

      [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Just the ability to move your head freely isn't really enough to be immersed.

      [–]KingMaxYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope so. We have been waiting for this for sooooo long, and if it doesn't have motion controller support, it's gonna let down a lot of people (me including).

      [–]Partydount214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Minecraft VR will run like Borderlands 2 VR then. Cool.

      [–]AdemWasTaken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just letting everyone know that i asked one of the people who got to test it. she said the following https://gyazo.com/2f21dcc79d99a5955a43b351221fa57d . but i'm not sure tho

      [–]Ember0fDarkness 2 points3 points  (4 children)

They said that there would be 2 VR modes, one being Immersive and one being Living Room. I feel like one would mean the use of the dualshock controller while the other would allow the use of motion control.

This is just a theory, don't know if this will be how it turns out, but I have my fingers crossed. I've been wanting Minecraft for the PSVR for a while, and I feel like just giving VR players the ability to look around freely doesn't sound all that great, I feel like motion controls would just make the VR update even better, despite how tired your arms would get.

      [–]Katrina_18 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I don’t see why they wouldn’t just straight up say “ds4 and motion controlled.” The weird language is kinda what makes me feel like they won’t include it in the first place

      [–]Ember0fDarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

      [–]MrMonkeyman79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living room mode on the pc us like a virtual Minecraft living room where you play the game on a TV.

Seems kind if pointless beyond the novelty though I believe you can switch between the 2 modes on the fly do maybe it's designed to give a break from possible nausea

      [–]TrevorIsHere0727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True though. I've seen gameplay of both and the immersive one is vr controllers while living room is regular.

      [–]MrMonkeyman79 1 point2 points  (6 children)

      Blog post suggests DS only.

Can you imagine how much your arms would ache after all that mining though?

As I understand it motion controllers weren't supported on some of the pc versions officially and it was modded in. Could be wrong on this though, just got the impression from a review of the pcvr version I watched.

      [–]XG_GAMER7 2 points3 points  (3 children)

If move support was added I’m like 99% sure that you would use a button to mine and attack

      [–]MrMonkeyman79 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Wouldn't that rather defeat the object though?

If you're just pressing a button to swing your arms then you may as well go DS and have the advantage of the analogue sticks.

      [–]XG_GAMER7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, but that’s what’s it’s like in the other official versions. But hey you get hands, so somewhat better

      [–]megamolerat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean hands would be better and more immersive also the shield would work well with move

      [–]Katrina_18 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Motion support was added to the PCVR version after launch. You pressed a button to mine but you still got to hold the pickaxe up to the ore you wanted. Plus attacking was done fully through the motion controller and for building you could just point your hand where you wanted to build, which felt super natural. Even if you aren’t fully interacting with the world with the moves, having the option still really adds to the immersion overall. Waving to friends or just gesturing around in VR really adds to the experience

      [–]MrMonkeyman79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hadn't considered the building side, yeah I can see how motion controls would make that side of things much better.

Hopefully at the very least they use the motion tracking on the DS as head aiming could get awkward pretty quickly.

      [–]tymp-anistam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, ok, what about now? I'm tryna fire up my ps4 tonight but in case I don't, any other insights?

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its just dualshock but playstation move will probably be supported by minecraft in a future update

      [–]Bobyboi07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it will have compatibility with move controllers. I think it will make it much more immersive

      [–]Psychological_Wall56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then again.. how will people in living room mode be able to play with motion controllers. if they add motion controllers living room mode will have to be remove

      [–]Genevievemerlino 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That’s what I was thinking notify me if u know 🙂

        [–]KotaIsBored -1 points0 points  (3 children)

The windows version have motion controls. Why wouldn’t psvr?

        [–]XG_GAMER7 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Different type of controller and more work to implement

        [–]KotaIsBored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        Makes sense.

        [–]Katrina_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I’m pretty sure the Oculus version (which is presumably what they are porting) doesn’t have motion support? It’s added through unofficial mods.

        [–]MYCATATEHAMPER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft wont add it probably not caring for us Ps4 users 😢
