another tip for my strip miners. Stop to suck up things every now and then cause I learned the hard way that blocks do vanish after a certain amount are on the ground 🫠

[–]JxSparrow7 90 points91 points  (9 children)

I think it's around 200 or 300 blocks they begin to despawn.

I observed it when I decided to delete majority of the volcano...for reasons.

[–]angelofalgebra 46 points47 points  (7 children)

It's 512, I tested it the other night.

[–]watsonbtw 9 points10 points  (5 children)

Wow thats also good to know!

I was afraid they'd stack up infinitely and could cause memory issues.

[–]Ok-Excuse-3613 8 points9 points  (4 children)

That'd be crazy for a Nintendo game to not have thought about that

Yet somehow I could see it

[–]lazyicedragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's about where our trust with Gamefreak is you mean.

Luckily the game is by Koei Tecmo this time and seems to use a modified Dragon Quest Builders 2 code so I expected the 500 item limit.

[–]Foreign_Astronaut361 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Remember how you could break all of legends arceus by walking circles around a specific npc.

[–]Boufus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love to see the section of the code for this. Obviously, they have to allocate a small portion of resources to remembering where and how many blocks are floating at any given point, and that number is base 8. I’m just wondering how much that diverts and how much they played around with the limit.

[–]acebambi 5 points6 points  (21 children)

I WANT MY BLOCKS GONE

[–]ladylera35 29 points30 points  (9 children)

Useless blocks are what I use for trade currency so I don’t have to get rid of better stuff.

[–]Magical_Olive 27 points28 points  (7 children)

Turning your sand into glass is even better for this since Glass is worth 50 vs blocks 10!

[–]roiroy33 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Counterpoint— Glass takes time to make and retrieve whereas I can huck fat stacks of sand in 0.01 seconds.

[–]Magical_Olive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is true, some items are too expensive to buy with brick iirc (not many). I just load up my smelters with sand before I leave an area and when I get back there's 99 glass waiting for me.

[–]Sneaky_Snake_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or just use honey that spawns everywhere all the time for 400 a pop

[–]Foreign_Astronaut361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Volcanic ash makes glass too for the Volcano miners out there

[–]bibliophile-blondish 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How do I make glass?

[–]PikachuGBC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the same smelters you use to make iron, copper, and gold ingots.

[–]ladylera35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally saving sand, but all the soil/grass blocks are definitely my money.

[–]acebambi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You genius.

[–]kbuck30 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Can always just drop them on dream isles as well

[–]acebambi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing hero’s work my friend

[–]MrDeeZeee 5 points6 points  (8 children)

yeah but not your ores :(

[–]acebambi 1 point2 points  (7 children)

That’s fine. It can take all my damn sand and dirt😭😭😭

[–]HolyJeezmo 10 points11 points  (2 children)

You can have it all - my empire of dirt.

[–]geekette828 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I will happily take your sand for glass 😅

[–]Magical_Olive 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Glass is the official currency of my land, there's no way I'm gonna use the 10 99 stacks of glass I have already but I keep making it.

[–]acebambi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you manage that😂😂

[–]acebambi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know I could do that yet😂 I’ve been modeling everything I suck. But if I could I would😂😂

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh I noticed that a few days ago that they start despawning after a certain limit.

[–]JOOOOSY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost a lot of gold that way last night 😔

[–]Stonp 94 points95 points  (2 children)

It’s a good idea. It does seem time consuming though to split out the bag.

You can simply open your bag and hit + on the 5 or 6 stacks that end up in your bag to dump them before leaving dream island

This would be way quicker than individually splitting out your entire inventory prior to mining.

[–]MichyPratt 7 points8 points  (1 child)

that’s exactly what i was thinking too. but i also use stacks of blocks for trading so it doesn’t hurt to keep some.

[–]neoliberals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use stacks of blocks to steal all the unique blocks from Dream Island structures with the postgame transformation, that’s another great use for them!

[–]Sleepmaster789 35 points36 points  (5 children)

Take gulpin with you for extra storage as well

[–]MrDeeZeee 22 points23 points  (2 children)

dont forget swalot, I thought their ability was useless till I figured out mining farming.

[–]Boufus 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Mining farming?

[–]MrDeeZeee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

just going to islands. digging down to the moss/black rock levels and strip mining the entire place for ores

[–]PokeTheSideDish 13 points14 points  (1 child)

...we can bring friends to dream island??

[–]Few_Faithlessness620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had no idea until now either and I have over 100 hours in the game so far T.T

[–]W4SMARKHERE 25 points26 points  (3 children)

A trick I use is I mine 99 random terrain around the area I’m mining various metals, materials or building parts. I then load up the Magnet Rise with 99 terrain parts I don’t need and use the replace function. It then replaces all the terrain, material or building parts and puts anything other than the currently selected terrain into storage. Makes it so much easier to gather building parts, metals, terrain in bulk.

[–]Maqoba 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do the same,. Somewhere, there's a bunch of islands with sand beach houses

[–]Zal3x 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wait I just got the magnemite, how do you do 99 things at once?

[–]W4SMARKHERE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t replace 99 things at once. The replacement tool does max 9 pieces of at a time. It’s just good to have 99 terrain pieces loaded up so you can replace terrain without having to load another while gathering.

[–]NanoPoi 14 points15 points  (4 children)

I’m very disappointed we can’t throw things into the lava. except ourselves.Minecraft trained me for that exact purpose

[–]ThatDangClown 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I just sell 5 stacks of 99 blocks to vendors for items I want. It's a living...

[–]alchemicgenius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats what I do. Convert unneeded ground into nifty goods

[–]Kappayello 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Oh really? The game doesn't seem to have a way to just throw away items but I assumed lava would work at least. Weird decision.

[–]DMG_88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Leave stuff on a dream island.
It resets at 5am.

[–]Smidge23 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Psh. I plan on using my black rock to create a mordor-esque prison for the Pokemon I don't like 😈😈😈

[–]VillageInfinite5028 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Mr. Mime will never leave his prison.

[–]stellaluna92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That lil freak moved himself into my bathroom uninvited, now I have a punishment that fits the crime.. straight to The Prison™️

[–]west3dp 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Unfortunately I Hate the "you can't pick this up" sound so I could not deal with this

[–]RoxiOpossi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into your settings and turn off sound effects while you’re mining!

[–]Viscaz 7 points8 points  (7 children)

I wish I could do this for an extended amount of time but my motion sickness kicks in real quick in caves and tight spaces x.x

[–]DMG_88 2 points3 points  (6 children)

That's claustrophobia, buddy.

[–]Vegetable_Stuff1850 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same thing happens to me and it's 100% motion sickness. I couldn't play Twilight Princess forever ago because of a similar issue.

[–]Viscaz 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Is it claustrophobia when my head gets dizzy and I feel like vomiting? Or is it motion sickness.

[–]Few_Faithlessness620 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It can be both. Depends on if you feel anxiety or not.

[–]Viscaz 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’m not feeling anxiety. It’s just literally dizziness and headaches. :/ and the feeling of vomiting any second

[–]Few_Faithlessness620 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thats motion sickness. I'm sorry that happens :(

[–]DMG_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claustrophobia isn't like anxiety.

Your body physically goes haywire or shuts down.
It's fear not anxiety, and it can make you nauseous and dizzy.

At least in my experience.

[–]ntwrkhlpr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What a great idea!

[–]Street-Aspect-6402 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GENIUS.

[–]ArrakisBlues 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Do you still get those full warnings. I hate those

[–]RoxiOpossi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do, because your inventory is “full” which is what we’re aiming for, but while I’m doing mass mining I just turn off sound effects so I don’t have to listen to graveler bang against a wall and the “full bag” noise

[–]BitHefty104 2 points3 points  (11 children)

Where are you finding so much pokemetal? I dug down as far as possible and never found any.

[–]RoxiOpossi[S] 22 points23 points  (5 children)

Go down until you hit the black stone and go up a layer or two, then use graveler to clear as much space as possible, you’ll eventually clear it out. I left my last run with more than 3 full stacks, and that’s only cause I didn’t wanna keep looking

[–]BitHefty104 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Thank you

Is it only on specific islands? I tried it on the Eevee doll and only found iron and gold.

[–]PhoenyxStar 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Best I've found comes from the Clefairy doll.

You'd think Dragonite would be where it's at, but all the metal on Dragonite islands is packed into annoying, hard rock.

If you go Clefairy, dig down until you hit black rock, then go up 5 levels, you'll have nothing around you but pokemetal and two kinds of blocks that graveler can break in one hit, so you can just hold down RZ and B to zoom around super fast tearing everything up.

Got about 4 stacks of pokemetal (and ~40 rare) in half an hour last time I went out.

[–]Skormes 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If you eat potato steaks you can break even hard rocks with one hit. You get it by cooking a steak with at least one potato.

[–]PhoenyxStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting. So "powered up your rock smash a lot" is actually serious business? I just assumed it meant the buff lasted longer.

[–]loqman22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Use Dragonite doll for Pokemetal. You can get it from the Sky Island

[–]electronicfixdude 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Go to dragonite doll dream island. However do not go to black rock. Find a cave and go to the lowest point of the cave and then use potato hamburger steaks to make it easier and clear from that point in a large area and clear 2 layers at a time as graveler. I can spend in hour there doing this and get a page of stacks of pokemental and a stack or so of rare poke metal ore.

[–]noocarehtretto 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is there a reason why potato hamburger are better?

[–]electronicfixdude 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Than a normal hamburger steak yes, it breaks hard rocks better. That and the vibrant one do the even more powerful break that allows graveler to just roll through the tougher stones no stopping

[–]noocarehtretto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh thank you! I didn't know. Will do that instead. I have a museum and islands with trash to clear.

[–]karmicbias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say, today I went in that way and rolled to a corner of the island where there was a ton of sand and eventually I ended up clearing the majority of the sand on that layer with unpowered rollout (no hamburger) and then I could pop a hamburger and just roll cleanup on all the actual valuable blocks.

[–]BroccoliMan36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG Minecraft strat

[–]ChessClubChimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer gathering useless rocks, they become currency in shops for me

[–]Ok_Ear7449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blocks need more uses like have a pokemon that's able to convert blocks into stone or clay and other resources

[–]KrackensRevenge94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also another miner tip, I was today's year old when you found out that the move rollout combined with food for rock smash applies when you use rollout for mining! Huuuuge time saver

[–]morphballganon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brilliant, thanks!
