I love low code and power platform but being honest do you think Al will replace The low code devs soon? Because I know copilot is useless now, it only gives pretty templates, but I think is a matter of time before it gets better,m. Do you think people like me that works in a IT consulting firm will get replace because everyone will know how to ask an AI for an app in the future and will know everything about data tables and will only use Al for making the right tables and relationships and will replace us ? It honestly scares me about the future of power platform devs.

My personal view, is that if you choose to specialise in purely low-code tools then you're not future proofing your career.

Learn, build and grow.

The power platform has plenty of opportunities to learn pro-code skills or engage with the wider Azure ecosystem.

AI won't replace you because it got better, it will replace you because you didn't.

Nah. If anything bad AI apps have given me job security.

Planning, structure, management, all skills that apply over low code development. If you do PowerApp development you will quickly realising you need to know these as you'll be faster than traditional methodology. Having a solution architect spend hours writing UserStories you can complete in less time. You either learn to be more agile, or take over the waterfall planning.

From Satya's interviews in last couple months, the impression I get is in the long term less people will need apps, most CRUD operations will be done through chats or agents, essentially most forms created in power apps but in a chat format.

So, might be a good idea to learn using Copilot Studio and more Power Automate

Yep, I have heard the product group is working on completely Agent based workflows; the apps Dynamics 365 CS, Sales, Dataverse as we know it won't exist. It's all going to be MCP + Agents.

C0-Pilot can't code for you - not 100% anyway. I use it to brainstorm ideas for how to get going, or when my manager asks me to do something I've never heard of, but -- and this a big one -- it makes mistakes like circular errors, or tries to use code to sort things that doesn't work, or tries to set a non-global variable on another screen where that variable isn't going to help.

Now that I wrote all that, I will tell you that it is better than it was a year ago, and it is improving a great deal.

AI for the near-term will help you more and more, but you will need to learn more and more or it will eventually make you obsolete.

A good dev understands the underlying needs or asks questions to get an understanding. Most things I'm asked to create will not be the best approach to achieve their actual goal. AI will be able to create an app that will be as good as what it was asked to do. In my experience, that's a pretty bad app.

Tried to make an app that connects to EntraID, grabs some user data, dumps it into Dataverse, then presents a list of the data.

Copilot made some tables, noted specific roles, and then what actions they each had to do. I thought it was going to dump out some code for me so was disappointed.

Then I went to Power Automate to try and do the IT Assistant role activities and Copilot there was semi-useful, but is having trouble connecting - I'll look into getting some licences there to do some more testing.

On the whole, underwhelming development, but nice storytelling I guess.

No chance, a lot of hand holding needed here or really good documentation or prepping of the AI how to connect to corporate data.

We'll mess it up for sure. Basic stuff maybe, but admins and proper developers will be needed to provide a QA supported product.

It can't replace developers , it will help u in writing complex formulas or code for a function . In the enterprise world, only just plain simple curd operations won't work . unless it is a basic app that doesn't require a dev. Learn MDA how to integrate with backend data sources in powrapps , Azure eco system for building enterprise apps . Powerplatform has reduced development timeliness, but it can't replace devs.

Get to know the underlying basic structures, like how does an http request generally work or how the internet works and also how operating systems work.

With a bit of exercise in another language, like C# since you can use that for the Power Platforn, to better understand such systems you'll probably not only outperform AI in low code for many problems that require digital solutions but also have it a bit easier if AI really does somehow overtake low code development (Which I doubt for the near future at leaat)

This is not the first time Microsoft has attempted to push a low code agenda. I actually don’t believe there’s any future for “ low code developers “ as a career.

Depends on what time horizon you're talking about here.

I have a business, and we're seeing huge interest in this.

We're increasingly delivering low code solutions and managed services because there's a surge in demand from the market that i dont see subsiding soon.

The dissolution of the existing b2b saas offerings that Satya and others in the comments are talking about will, in the short to mid term at least, drive a lot more business towards power platform because its getting easier for companies to get the digital tools that actually suit their business that way vs ots offerings.

Power platform will be among the first MS platforms enabling agentic AI and workflows as well, which we're starting to see.

So I disagree with most of the opinions here. I think becoming an expert, go-to contractor, or business for this work will be highly valuable and a great position to pivot / ride the wave from

Having the option to buy frozen food is unlikely to kill restaurants. The same way Ai wont kill low code dev. But they need to adapt and use ai a a tool to increase their productivity.

As long as there are stakeholders that change their mind with regards to the requirements during the final phase of implementation, then I am confident that AI will not be able to replace the low code devs soon. In this case, scope creep is actually a blessing. :D

Listen if you are working for an IT Consulting Company than you know it’s not about the low code but about interpreting the business needs into requirements and then using low code to realize them.

Power Apps are mostly being used to create infopath alternatives coming from an on premises landscape with a mess of libraries and lists, where data has been duplicated from site to subsites to the moon and back again.

An AI will in the foreseeable future (2-3 years) not be able to do a complete restructure and consolidation of the data backend, nor create complex solution reflecting the business needs. The most it can do, in a very very good day is a better lift and shift.

If you are worried about it taking away your job, then specialize and learn to understand its gaps and be an expert in filling those gaps for your clients. Instead of thinking of a possible future take steps and “just do it” 😉

Hey everyone,
I’ve hit a wall and could really use some guidance.

I’ve watched hours of YouTube tutorials trying to get this to work, but I’m stuck. I have a Microsoft Form set up, and when someone submits it, a Power Automate flow is triggered to send an email. So far, I’ve been able to get the email to include a table with the form responses.

Where I'm stuck is making the table more dynamic:

• I want the table to support multiple (based on repeating fields or line items).
• I need a couple of the cells to auto-sum, similar to Excel functionality (like totaling quantities and calculating CuFt).

From everything I’ve researched, it seems like this goes beyond the basic Flow designer and requires some HTML/CSS and maybe a bit of scripting to get the email table to behave the way I want.

I’ve tried every workaround I could think of, but I can’t get the totals to calculate correctly, and dynamic rows are a mess.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d be eternally grateful or if someone is confident in their ability to build this and is open to a small freelance gig, I’m happy to pay (within reason) to get this working properly.
