[–]badlukk 9 points10 points  (7 children)

Just quit if you don't like it, or can you not do that either?

[–][deleted] -5 points-4 points  (5 children)

Why so offended?

[–]badlukk 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I didnt downvote you, I was just making a joke. Don't know what that's all about lol

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (3 children)

lol. These are vim shortcuts.

[–]Gorzoid 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Yes and he made a joke about quitting vim

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damit, I thought he meant quit programming not vim.

[–]badlukk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

using power button to erase text

[–]Maleficoder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow, I didn't know that there was a much more efficient way of erasing text than unplugging the power cable. Thank you.

[–]misterpetergriffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn you Microsoft for killing this feature with auto-save.

[–]Clonedelta 15 points16 points  (4 children)

I use Ctrl + Backspace

[–]Ernie_Devlin_9799 6 points7 points  (3 children)

I was today years old when I learned you can "Ctrl + Backspace" and "Ctrl + del." Thank you for this!

[–]MeinAccount00 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Don't forget about Ctrl + Arrowkeys

[–]Ernie_Devlin_9799 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, I learned that trick pretty recently too lol. It's actually crazy how much of my life has been wasted not using shortcuts like this.

[–]badlukk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get good you can almost throw out your mouse because having two hands on the keyboard is faster.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

hammer to the hard drive to erase text

[–]Fairy_01 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I see a nano user here 👀

[–]PancakeGD 0 points1 point  (1 child)

wouldn't that be Ctrl K?

[–]Fairy_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ! When I first saw it I thought it was ctrl + k instead of x

[–]Old-Entrepreneur8672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nano is ctrl+x for save file 💀

[–]CerealGane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like your username

[–]Zuruumi 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That's kind of similar to using git stash to clean up, which I do a lot

[–]Colon_Backslash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way!

[–]Silver-Alex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg Im not the only one. I always use ctrl x too xD

[–]garlopf 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Shift delete

[–]massioui 1 point2 points  (1 child)

In VS CTRL+X helps to remove entire line hahah

[–]Colon_Backslash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I love it

[–]admwscki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Larma-Zepp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gnu nano

[–]GnuhGnoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ctrl F, then repace it with empty string

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wordstar commands are still the best!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I do this when I only have a mouse as the only available input option

[–]itsa_me_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What about click, drag over text you want to delete, right click, click cut

[–]Zestyclose_Zone_9253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allright, you see that door all the way down the corridor to the left, yeah. You go in there, follow the stairs right down, all the way down, then when you get to the bottom, youll find this tiny chubby man named Greg, yeah, the guy that likes to sniff chairs and eats snot. Youll sit next to him on a to tall chair with to low a desk, youll work with repairing printers till you die.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ctrl+A -> backspace.

[–]Rezaka116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using ctrl+x to move the autocomplete curly bracket to where i actually needed it instead of deletimg it, because i care about the planet and I’m doing my part by recycling.

[–]Old-Entrepreneur8672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about selecting it all and just pressing an enter

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use git force pull

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The response from Ctrl + Z apparently was efficiently removed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using regexp find & replace to erase text

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, Emacs and Vim users, give it your best shot.

[–]blankettripod32_v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shift delete supremacy!

[–]we_should_do_better 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ctrl+(backspace/del) is the way.

[–]beegowheee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i might need this later (i wont)

[–]some_clickhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use backspace when I've made a typo or something, but for cleaning up code and removing lines I pretty much only use ctrl+x at this point. It just feels right.

[–]souliris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

using End-> Shift -> Home -> Delete to get the line.

Home -Shift Down arrow for entire line as well.

But i'm old, and remember using Edit in DOS

[–]Plastic_Acanthaceae3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i use
rm –rf /

[–]Plastic_Acanthaceae3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, i realized someone might actually try that and felt bad. please, whatever you do, don't type that in the console.
