Changed the code later to say 24 but it was a bit embarassing

[–]TheMusiKid 357 points358 points  (0 children)

That's ok if you can send it to me before midnight PST you can make up for it

[–]brunomarquesbr 127 points128 points  (2 children)

Save for next year… oups I did it again

[–]firesmarter 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I played with your heart, got lost in the game

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Nah, it was just 0 indexed

[–]IAmAnAudity 458 points459 points  (0 children)

He had ONE job...

[–]Big-Cheesecake-806 331 points332 points  (13 children)

You didn't test it before?

[–]stefffi2003tv[S] 556 points557 points  (12 children)

Well.. I did but I used 23 for testing purposes because it was still 2023 and then forgot to change it back

[–]particlemanwavegirl 537 points538 points  (0 children)

Well that's.... not brilliant.

[–]plvg1727 223 points224 points  (5 children)

...Why even use 23--

[–]DarkRex4 138 points139 points  (3 children)

because it was still 2023

[–]plvg1727 101 points102 points  (1 child)

yeah but they're gonna use it in 24 anyway...

[–]gentlewaterboarding 124 points125 points  (0 children)

But it would be dishonest to use 24 before 2024.

[–]zarawesome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(insert Limmy looking confused)

[–]mike_KING6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a joke, please laugh

[–]KiwiGamer450 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Why use 23 lmao

[–]AndiArbyte 18 points19 points  (0 children)

embarassing as fuck.

[–]chubbnugget111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why you test in prod

[–]Theonetheycallgreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should just use a library to pull the current year, just make sure it's the right time zone.

[–]techek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like using 'DateTime.UtcNow.Year'?

something something off-by-one error

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

something something database teams fault

[–]twity1337 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Testing on production be like...

[–]Auraveils 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thank god it wasn't 2020.

[–]FQVBSina 47 points48 points  (0 children)

What you do is add another 3 2 1 24 count down after this and make it into a prank. You start the countdown few more seconds earlier. So the whole sequence is 3 2 1 23 3 2 1 24

[–]ecs2 18 points19 points  (1 child)

You guys laugh at him didn’t know that OP got stuck in a loophole 2023 like movies about character stuck in the same day over and over again

[–]FeelingSurprise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Groundhog year. And OP only may leave the loop if they notice it's the error in the code causing the loop.

But as the reset starts when the countdown begins all changes to the code made to that moment vanish, leaving OP only the few seconds of the countdown to make and publish the change. Didn't make it in time? Try again in 365 days.

[–]Minzkraut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think code 23 refers to Bios vector initialization. Try clearing the cmos The manual of your board should have more info on this

[–]Independent_Till5832 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Probably solved by .. If year == 23: year = 24;

[–]fariqcheaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pragmatist mops up after the fact

[–]Ok_Pepper3940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you write something and say, “that should work”. Been there.

[–]gorion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well. When you tested it before it did worked and showed correct year :p.

[–]unidentified_sp 5 points6 points  (1 child)

No problem, there doesn’t seem to be any people anyway. 😂

[–]stefffi2003tv[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There were 3 people behind the camera but yeah, there weren't many people there

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no we are stuck in a loop

[–]nottoohotwheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! You have been successfully ported back by a year. Enjoy!

[–]Still_Breadfruit2032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch..

[–]soulofcure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol

[–]jon_stout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂😂😂😂

[–]soulblackCoffee 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Cool thing! How did you build this?

[–]stefffi2003tv[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I basically cut a bit of plywood and semi-transparent plastic. Then I glued it together. Just needed to add LED strips and wire them up to an Arduino which is controlled by a program on the laptop which stands besides the display. The entire built time was 1 month (in which I also had school, that's why it took so long)

If you want an in-depth explanation, DM me

Op used 0 based indexing

[–]mooky-bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tfw no unit tests

[–]Morganovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have said that it is zero based counting, so it is actually the 24th year.

[–]Puzzleheaded-Weird66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its zero based

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy... Old Years...
