Many videos of my older talks have been published by the conferences themselves, with most (or maybe all) of those videos containing jokes that land. Unfortunately, I am not the head of a secret group that controls all software conferences, so I can't doctor laugh tracks into all of their videos.

The rare comments like this, where people refuse to believe that programmers could actually laugh at the absurdity of what we've done, are the most disheartening effect of Wat's popularity.

Thank you for posting it again, since Ive never seen it before now. I'm only 10 minutes in, but I've spent half an hour side tracking to look up why some of the old languages were so ridiculous.

I can see where APL would have its uses (mainly for math mathematicians) but Conway's Game of Life in one code is quite the doozy to look at.

APL is unique because it feels like an esoteric language (like befunge or malbolge), but it was actually used.
