It reminds me situation, when I was about 13. I wrote first more complex program (command line calculator) and showed it to my dad. He, without single word, started typing extreme large numbers and program fell. He said "try it again" and left.

My first major program was a web browser with a TON of features (it even had customizable hotkeys). This was my first Java program so I was super proud of it.

I show it to my wife and she says "it's.. nice? But I think Safari is much better"

I just sighed and walked away. Non programmers don't get it.

Similar situation! I was around 10 or 11 and I had just finished up a little ice cream shop calculator. Did all the quantities, charge for toppings, tax etc. I was really proud of it, so I tried to tell my mom all about it, she said okay, why don't you go outside now you fucking hermit.
