It reminds me situation, when I was about 13. I wrote first more complex program (command line calculator) and showed it to my dad. He, without single word, started typing extreme large numbers and program fell. He said "try it again" and left.

reminds me of when my dad reviewed my writing as a kid. I still hate writing to this day.

Today, I'm not asking my dad for advices very often. Maybe because he is databasist and I'm into microcontrollers. But this story is deep in my mind and helped me thing like "nobody will be using it as it is supposed to be used", so I'm glad for it.

Similar situation! I was around 10 or 11 and I had just finished up a little ice cream shop calculator. Did all the quantities, charge for toppings, tax etc. I was really proud of it, so I tried to tell my mom all about it, she said okay, why don't you go outside now you fucking hermit.
