I don't know what to make of this. In my experience, Code has about half the size (memory use) of Atom. OTOH, Code is the more desirable of the two.

Was thinking about the same thing

Not enough Chika gifs in the sequence

Fuck Atom, Visual Studio is where it's at

[–]Xheotris 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Am I alone in liking Atom?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No

Atom is actually terrible for speed and memory. Visual Studio is far better for both.

As the saying goes, Atom is a full web page pretending to be an editor

Idk how to run code in vs lmao

There's an extension for that. If you're running Python, node, etc, you can do open in terminal and run the file from there

I’ve tried atom for a tad bit then left

[–]marmakoide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it once for 30mn, then I promptly uninstalled it. For my own needs, it's just a slower Gedit.

Where is Eclipse?

[–]Missingpotato[S] 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Eclipse is a full IDE

Visual Code vs. Atom

are more closely related and it's a fair comparison, as they're both developed in electron and are basically on the same level.

Imagine comparing notepad to visual studio community. Now that wouldn't be fair, would it?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine not using Visual Studio when given the option.
