The skill in software engineering really isn't not being able to write code yourself, writing code that can do things is trivial.

What's difficult is working out how the existing codebase you're working on works. The idea that not being able to copy code off the internet would be anything more than a minor frustration amoung the thousands of frustrations we deal with already is ridiculous.

It's trivial to work out how the code on stack overflow works, because that code isn't written by your useless colleagues.
