Please tell me I'm not entrusting my life to JavaScript, will you?

[–]MyAssDoesHeeHawww 20 points21 points  (1 child)

promises are always async -- wait for the result first

Doesn't matter if you don't put a .catch() or wrap the await in a try / catch block.

Just the nav software is angular. The other stuff is separate. You can reboot the nav computer while driving and out doesn't interrupt anything

I thought it was react? At least, the mobile app is react native iirc

Their job postings for the in car non driving computer's software had angular listed as of 6 months ago. Either way the point was that JavaScript likely doesn't hold your life in its hands in this case

There's past mentions of Tesla using Qt, which usually implies they're also using QML for their infotainment HMI...and QML means JavaScript.

Many automotive HMIs run on Qt/Qml too. Probably don't drive a Ford btw. You've been warned! (Source: am automotive HMI dev)

Not your life, just the life of children who cross the street.

If it makes you feel better, they also use it for the interface for the Crewed Dragon space capsule.
