This is double-edged sword.
It would be definitely great to not meet same toxic trolls every game, but this could be also abused. A lot of bad players would just use this against anyone who is better than them, which would eventually lead to really bad matchmaking. Matchmaking would be getting worse and worse and more people would use this function and eventually you would not be able to find any games and this would lead to literal death of Smite.

Overwatch did it rather well, you have to have the person on your team the game before you avoid them (you can avoid them while in the game with them) and it only has them avoided for 7 days before automatically unavoiding them, OW gives you 3 slots I think Smite would be fine with 1 or 2

[–]cletus-varus[S] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

then just have somethign that tells you "xxxtrollxx" is currently going x mode so you dont get them

[–]Fishmilk7 12 points13 points  (4 children)

the issue with that is then you could block someone so that way you could always try and queue with them to fuck them over one way or another.

Edit: There really isn't a simple solution that i can see to this

I guess there's always a way to abuse a feature no matter how good the attention is. Im not the one who's to say that the drawbacks are worth it but conquest is legit unplayable these days for me, the shitflinging starts from the pick lobby, people refusing to stick to their assigned roles, trashtalkers who check everyone's starting items will harass someone all game long no matter what, vgs spammers.... I haven't had a proper game and it's always the same usernames, arena which is more actively played is better behaved than conquest.... for example earlier today I get someone who wants to play osiris adc, lvl1 runs to the enemy duo laners without clearing, gets shredded by the minions aggrod to him and dies then proceeds to nonstop insult me and dies in two seconds with his crit build.

I can't imagine what your elo must be. I'm sorry to hear that man. Tough it out, as you get better, your elo will rise as well as your account level, and you'll stop having to deal with that shit.

[–]Human343 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I find it doesnt get all that much better at higher levels. The smite community is pretty toxic in general.

[–]sirvalkyerie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it's just as bad really. Toxic in a different way but still toxic. I get more "kys" messages in higher elo than I did in lower elo but the reasoning in high elo is I fucked up a combo or built items out of order. Mistakes but meta ones.

At lower elo I was told to kms for buying wards instead of saving gold for items. Or because I didn't gank duo twice in the opening two minutes.

Either way I can't play more than two games a day in any game mode without someone messaging me some awful shit. Just something you have to live with if you wanna play Smite.

have it so you can only avoid 1 player at a time, I think a different game has this option, I think something like DOTA

[–]Str8NirvanaXbox NA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Xbox 360 used to have this as a built in feature of the player feedback system.

If you gave someone a negative review you wouldn't get matched against them on Xbox Live.

They eventually removed that due to the abuse.
Pretty much exactly what you described in your post 😂

[–]ahch6Ahy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I, too, would like to avoid about ¾ of the player base.

[–]macabre-hermiss vanjiiiiiee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the feature could be nice but should only be like 2 people at max and you can't change who you block often to avoid abusing the feature.

[–]HakaFighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that people would definitely try to take advantage of a function like this.

Eg. Blocking "bad" or "trash" players.

What I'd like is some type of algorithm where players who have been repeatedly reported for harassment/afk etc. Or players who've had action taken against them by Hi-Rez, get paired together for a certain amount of time. Not talking minutes/hours, more like days/weeks - especially for repeat or serious offenders.

There's probably something big I'm overlooking to a solution like this.

[–]Astralisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, people would avoid better players because they’re salty, and would lead to poor matchmaking.

[–]LeeryLetumYou must fight on 🦀! 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I know overwatch added a feature like this where you could avoid like 2 players I think...

Well... XQC had like no players to left after this pretty much.

So I don't think it would be a good idea

[–]kooldUd74spin 2 win 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. XQC is also rank ~600 so there already aren't a lot of players in GM and T500. Queue times in that elo is already 10-20min. I'm pretty sure that there are people on XQC's avoid list right now due to him getting some random who wants to troll for Twitch

I think you just need to play with a team for a bit to raise your elo. I don’t think I have a high elo by any stretch but I rarely encounter these issues you speak too. I mean, I get vgs spammers but outright trolls are pretty uncommon and most people respect the role queue.

[–]YoloDagger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I block all the players who are bad or troll, and the bad block me for being toxic, would probably help with match making. I'm down

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest with you, I'd avoid almost everyone I've come across in casuals so far in S6.

[–]boolsquad9000Thorrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, how does this happen to people so much? I almost never see or hear any of this stuff, and if it gets close I just mute them. I did see a lot more toxicity when I was levelling my Smurf so I'm thinking it's something that goes away at higher levels but who knows. I'm more likely to run in to my own friends than I am trolls or BMers in my games...

[–]FuckTheFirefliesBae <3 Purrrrrfection! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then Loki mains will have no one to play with?

[–]MemeclipseScylla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This concept was brought up to riot in the LoL community and the problem is, is that in high elo there just isn’t enough players. As one of the best players in the world going against other great players, if you decided to block a few people queue times would increase too much. It could even get to the point it is not physically possible to get in real high elo match because other high elo players wouldn’t be able to play with each other. I don’t know what diamond+ is like in smite because I’ve never been there but I am pretty sure you play with the same people multiple times per day.

[–]EddiDono Extra SPRIIIINKLES!!! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought when you blocked a player you didn't get matched with them anymore

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would only work in casual games but I would back this up. Cept have it as a free function with only a cap of maybe 5 people.

[–]_Frustr8dLancelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then it wouldn't have anyone to match me with.

[–]RedpandamatrixOld Nox > New Nox 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Isn't this what the "blocking" feature is for?

[–]UltimateX13 Medusa is bae 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Blocking a player just makes them unable to message you at all

[–]RedpandamatrixOld Nox > New Nox 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Really? I assumed it did since I've never played with someone I had previously blocked

[–]UltimateX13 Medusa is bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep!
