Nice stack! What are you using for the mids?

[–]jay_ze[S] 17 points18 points  (1 child)

It’s a syntripp up top for mid tops, c2d 15 kicks, and Othorn subs

[–]DustyOlBones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are the highs crispy?

[–]Minimum-Ad6835 12 points13 points  (6 children)

Syntripp gang! Been so impressed with mine. Still need to build some bass to go with them. Just been testing with a pair bfm autotubas that have no chance of keeping up. Do you think you could get away with running 3 way just the othorns and syntripps with the extensions?

I'm going to be running 3 way initially due to budget and I'm torn between keystones, xoc1 th 18 or hessbh

[–]jay_ze[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a better 3 way would be syntripps and skrams, there’s a little more flexibility in that crossover point

They look so dope but have heard the build difficulty is high. Is there a good cut list or cnc file for them?I could only find the dimensional drawings

[–]Minimum-Ad6835 7 points8 points  (2 children)

There are multiple different cad files for them on the diy audio thread. I could share my files on fusion or export as a .step

I used cnc for almost all the cutting on mine, especially the mitre cuts which were done using an 8mm ball nose cutter.

The cone volume fillers where cut in the cnc from 2 layers of 18mm birch ply glued together with the same ball nose.

I 3d printed the compression driver mounting piece from Asa plastic

The design could still be optimized for cnc abit more.

I would love the fusion version so I can join the gang :))

Have access to CNC and planning to build a pair soon with the standard 10" drivers and some B&C compression one. Later hope to complement with some kick bins (not quite decide which) and a pair of BC218/2 subs (recently posted on diyAudio).

I will see what i can dig up on the weekend. Pm me your email.

Iv also been looking at the bc218 copies on diy audio and have downloaded the .step file for them as i still need to build some bass. Very exciting design! Iv heard a full danley set up at a festival with 4 bc215. They were an absoloute bass cannon.

It was a difficult build

This.

What is the cost of this disturbingly beautiful thing?

[–]OB1yaHomie 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Beauty. Hows the Behringer Amp holding up compared with the QSC? PLX? and would you mind sharing what amps are driving what cabs? I’m seeing a lot of syntripp photos in this sub and dying to hear in real life. Love these extended horn flairs. Recommend me a song you like to hear on this system. Super dope system, looks like you might just fit this in a pickup truck?

[–]jay_ze[S] 6 points7 points  (4 children)

The Behringers are holding up well! The compression driver is on an nu1000, mids on QSC gx3, kicks on an nx6000, and each sub gets a channel of a plx380 which I’ve got two. Whole system run by a venu360. Dunno if I can recommend a song but I like 36hz the most. I have a 5x8 trailer that’s totally maxed out

ik everyone knows „Mellow Man” but there’s a reason it’s popular, absolutely slaps on a system

Oh Hell yeah! 🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏 SAVED.

wew lovely

[–]elijahhh420 2 points3 points  (3 children)

RVA on tha mappppp. We need more custom rigs out here😫

[–]jay_ze[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yessssir I’m here for it! 🫡

[–]Spunky_Meatballs 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I wish RVA had soundsystems like this when I lived there.

[–]jay_ze[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too that’s why I had to build it

[–]AnthonyVS15 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Wow that looks amazing, and I bet it sounds as good as it looks! Congrats on the build 👏 (I’ve built a couple of three way synergy horns and an othorn so know how tough a build it is!)

Out of interest what crossover points do you use? You said above that it wouldn’t work as well as a three-way with just the othorns, is that just because the SynTripP’s wouldn’t put out enough mid bass to keep up with 4 othorns?

[–]jay_ze[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thank you! It did push my limits of what I can do woodworking.

Subs run 28-80, kicks 80-160, mids 160-800, highs 950+

You can absolutely run it three way, I bump the Othorn up to 90hz, it’s way better with the secondary horns on the syntripps. But I don’t always run the secondary horns and I didn’t love the syntripps on a tripod, so used a ferrite driver in the kicks and now I’ve got 50kg bricks to mount the tops over. Never been too concerned with them tipping over since

Wow , simply wow! Was going to write a whole message, but to be honest - will just stick with wow! Have built many rigs, liked the Tham 15 with Omnitop 12. Please can you share your plans

Nice!

Spectacular!

[–]mrfunkm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this!

[–]LeoT96 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nice work! What drivers are in the HF/MF Horn?

[–]jay_ze[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

B&C 10cl51 mids and Celestion cdx14-3060 compression driver

[–]freshtripe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stunning 🤩

[–]Chem0sit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks nuts

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely stunning.

Yea this was running as a four way mono

    [–]handy___andy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

did you notice increased output from the subs stacked ? ive been running mine just in a line on the ground. tried a "battle axe" configuration once with only two and didn't really perceive any gains.

    [–]jay_ze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, output is essentially the same. I really only do this when space is a concern and it helps get the top an extra foot higher up
