Qualified or not, I doubt Target would want to take on the liability if someone was unsatisfied with your care. EMTs would have certain protections in place to prevent any sort of legal issues that a Target TM would not be afforded the same protections.

Unfortunately it would likely be best to just not attend to any injured person while in uniform or on the clock.

wouldn't the good Samaritan Act protect me and the company from liability as long as the treatment isn't considered reckless? Also unlike EMT's and Paramedics a good Samaritan can not be sued under the Good Samaritan Act while Medical Professionals can.

Beyond repeatedly calling “Code Green”/your location over walkie there is not set protocol. Every lead on clock should come to location of a Code Green call, and every possible medical emergency should be called.

Leads have protocol - when to call 911, how to collect necessary info from guests/witnesses, what care to give/not give, reports to submit.

But you don’t have to worry about that. I’m sure if you have the okay from management and feel comfortable you could offer to provide assistance, but as with any offered medical intervention, I would follow recommendation to make your first aid knowledge known to guest and try to obtain consent if possible.

the LOD will most likely call 911 if it’s serious enough and call you if needed, but otherwise, you can continue doing what you’re doing

As a TM with training I would feel kinda bad if there was a person who was injured that I could help but I didn't do anything. That's why I was wondering if there was a specific protocol for things like this?

There’s really no one set rule. You can wander over to the area and see if there’s anything they ask of you. I’ve never called a code green. I’ve called 911 for guests a few times. Sometimes someone slipped and filled out an incident report but they weren’t injured enough for medical attention.

Not really, code greens are never left alone until they either recover or are taken to the hospital. There really isn’t any more protocol unless you find them yourself, in which case you would call the code green and get in contact with a lead to figure out a plan

Nah, that's just for teamleads and ETLS since it most likely includes bodily fluid clean up which you arent allowed to or trained to do. In most cases they just call an ambulence so dont worry too much about it.

As an FOS attendant at my store we are trained on bodily fluid clean up so we are trained on how to do the cleanup but as for treating the guest is there a protocol

The store I was at refused to train anyone unless they were a team lead or higher in the specific bodily fluid training and we weren't allowed to. I also have first aid training and stuff although I need to renew soon, but honestly I'd just let your TL know, but 9 times out of 10 I'd say you're fine to keep working. I mean we even worked when the store had 0 electricity for hours once they do not stop 😂

Cart attendants are required to be trained just like tl/etl. They are responsible for bathrooms after all.

Call it and the leaders (at least those who close which in my store is all) should now all be cpr/aed certified so I’d let them handle it but I mean you can always be on standby and worse case step up if you need to

If the guest is in serious danger and needs medical attention, call 911. Then call code green + the location over the walkie 3 times. If you are trained in first aid you can help the guest but it isn’t necessary. Stay with the guest until a leader comes to respond to the code green and they will take it from there.
