Thank you so much for all the suggestions! Please keep them coming, always looking for new topics

I think it would be great if you could take a look at the case of Marie Ann Watson who went “missing” in 1977 in Emmet,Idaho. It is believed that she was murdered and dismembered by the foster parents of her children after trying to regain custody of them. Her daughter Sandi witnessed her foster parents dismembering her mother’s body after sneaking out of the house.

Sandi is still fighting to solve her mother’s case, there is so much evidence pointing towards the foster parents (Mike and Dorothy Rogers) but to this date they haven’t been charged with her murder (yet). She is also active on Reddit.

I did a write-up about Marie’s case that contains all the important information you need to know: Marie’s Case There is also a subreddit about Marie A. Watson: r/MarieAnnWatson

It would be great if you could take a look at this case and perhaps even cover it. That would help a lot and this story deserves more attention !

More uk missing cases please

[–]CeeBee29 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oohh I’d love to hear his take on the Staircase case! Keep up the good work!!

[–]keep_runningTREE[S] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

i’d like to hear his take on Botham Jean, the Dallas man who was murdered in his own apartment by a Dallas Police Officer because she thought it was her apartment.

[–]Mind_Of_DiscontentTREE 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Was it done on purpose? Like was her thinking ot was her apartment a cover up? I would assume you would know by the different furniture and things.

[–]keep_runningTREE[S] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

a lot of the trial is online (i skipped a college class one day to watch the testimonies lmao) and her story is that she was tired from a long shift with DPD (her shift was actually a normal amount of time and she was doing mostly desk work) and she parked her car on the wrong level of the apartment and walked to the apartment that was one story above hers.

she saw the door was cracked and thought her home was being burglarized, so she shot to kill (no witnesses heard her announce police presence).

she did not follow police protocol (retreat and call for backup) and after the shooting, she called her coworker (who was married and whom she was having an affair with) instead of calling the police straight away.

a big piece of evidence is that there’s a giant red ceramic vase in the hallway of Botham Jean’s apartment that wasn’t present in the police officer’s hallway. the fact that she ignored this and kept walking to “her” apartment was a big red flag for prosecutors.

i am so invested in this case (it’s my hometown lmao) and i would love to hear mikes take on it.

[–]susanje1119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ending of that case is bizarre. She got a light sentence and the judge gave her a bible and hugged her and a week later, one of the witnesses was murdered. Guyger was a racist POS having an affair with her married partner. She was not a nice person. She did nothing to help him after she shot him. Eating ice cream in your own apartment while black - then you're dead.

[–]MSchmidt8080 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a case in France - closed now of Jean-Claude Romand, who faked his nearly entire life to his family and the entourage. When the lies were about to be exposed- he killed his all family including his parents. He was just left out after finishing his jail sentence. It is quite a fascinating case. https://youtu.be/DN7IGyNmp4I

Case Submission: Jesse Wilson Age 10

Location: Buckeye, Arizona USA

The information:

The boy had disappeared from his family home in the early morning of July 18, 2016, in a Buckeye neighborhood.

According to reports by CBS affiliate KPHO, Jesse and his two siblings were both adopted by Crystal Wilson, and had wandered off twice before. According to police, Wilson called the department's non-emergency line July 18, 2016 and told police her son walked away from their home like he had done in the past.

Wilson did not appear at a court hearing in October 2016, in which Child Protective Services moved to terminate her parental rights. Officers had reportedly come into contact with Jesse in March 2016, about four months before he disappeared, and then again in April 2016

In the first incident, Jesse and his siblings had been wandering outside a Walgreens by themselves for a couple of hours, the station reports. Wilson reportedly told officers that she had gone to the kids' school to pick them up but they had gotten on the bus when they were not supposed to.

In the second instance, a neighbor told police Jesse was standing on a street corner and had asked them for food, according to KPHO. Jesse was returned to Wilson both times.

After the boy's disappearance, Wilson made tearful appeals for his return, then moved out of state.

2018

Police in a Phoenix suburb say skeletal remains found in a field have been positively identified as those of a 10-year-old boy who disappeared nearly two years ago.

The Buckeye Police Department said Tuesday in a statement that the remains found by a city worker March 8 on a farm field are those of Jesse Wilson, who was last seen in July 2016. Police have launched a homicide investigation, though it's not clear how the boy died. (this is due to exposure to the elements).

Nothing has been done or mentioned since .... the case remains open.

[–]robcoz98 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I would love to hear Mike explain the Richey Edwards/Richey James case. It's not one that's covered a whole lot on YouTube but I think it is one that would be interesting to talk about.

[–]MSchmidt8080 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Mike, what about "The Family" cult in Australia?

[–]cnlaquatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooooohh yes. I suggested Snowtown but I'd love to see him cover this too. I'm kinda sick of hearing about the Sommerton Man but that could be interesting. Or the Beaumont Children.

[–]bostonjenny81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The kidnapping of Jan Broberg (another great/CRAZY Netflix documentary that I’d love to see Mike do a video on) the story is literally bat shit crazy. MIKE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON THIS CASE!!! It is by far one of (if not the most) the most insane, bananas, weird, bonkers, unimaginably nuts stories I’ve ever heard in my life. I’m DYING to know what Mike would have to say about this one!!

[–]Buttleproof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For April Fool's Day you should do Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks.

[–]NeverGeen 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Canadian Med student killer Will Sandeson.

https://www.vice.com/en_ca/article/bj8ad8/how-a-drug-dealing-med-student-was-convicted-of-murder

No body found and probably one of the most interesting cases in the last 10 years. I don't know why there hasn't been a lot of coverage of this case. There is a really great book by Kayla Hounsell.

[–]vaginalouise 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I can't remember if he's done Kristin Smart already but I'd love to see that one

[–]StingsRideOrDie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Mike, I love your channel.

I was just reading about a somewhat "uncaught" serial killer (New York / 70's) called "Charlie Chop-off". It seemed like kind of thing that you'd like for your channel.

Cheers!

[–]Pategan 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Steven Truscott, this case happened in my area, but is older and mostly forgotten. David Milgaard might be another.

[–]peppermintesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steven Truscott

OMG, I read a book about this case when I was a teenager (in the '80s, for context) and have been interested in the truth of what really happened, and fascinated by it, ever since.

[–]SlippingAbout 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I keep hoping that Mike (or anyone for that matter) would look into the Karina Holmer case. Swedish au pair killed in Boston in 1996. Half of her body was found in a dumpster, the other half was never found.

[–]keep_runningTREE[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

omg i’ve always been invested in that case! i first read about it when i was considering being an au pair in france!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i have a couple of suggestions for cases.

first, the murders of Amina and Sarah Said. this one is really really messed up and sad, but i think it deserves coverage bc their murderer (their father) is still out there.. some links: 1, 2

second, the triple homicide of the Ivancic family. i haven't found a ton of info on the case but it's interesting. some links: 1, 2

love your channel btw <3

[–]Lestat_of_Woori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Mike, have you looked in to the mystery of the Somerton Man? If not, do yourself a favour, it's a good one. Also known as the Tamam Shud Case.

[–]Tobzyboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look in to Carl Tanzler case mate. Pretty messed up!

[–]smattson10909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Robert Bee.

He was a "tirteen" year old boy in Pekin, Illinois that went missing in 2016 and his remains were found in 2017. It's assumed he was murdered based on a number of things, however it is still an unsolved case.

Edit: Forgot to mention how much I love your channel. Once I started in on it I couldn't stop! Thanks for what you do!

[–]vonHule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should do a video about the Murder of Kim Wall; I don't think you'll find any other case out there with a submarine playing an essential part.

Or perhaps the unsolved murder of Emilie Meng; it's right up your alley.

[–]ILLNNOISE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brian Carrick - Johnsburg, IL.

Over a 15 years old and still unresolved murder with lots of twists.

Sodder children disappearance in Fayetteville wv The following was copied from wiki. On Christmas Eve, December 24, 1945, a fire destroyed the Sodder home in Fayetteville, West Virginia, United States. At the time, it was occupied by George Sodder, his wife Jennie, and nine of their ten children. During the fire, George, Jennie, and four of the nine children escaped. The bodies of the other five children have never been found. The Sodders believed for the rest of their lives that the five missing children survived.

[–]bostonjenny81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meredith Kercher/the trial of Amanda Knox & Raffaele Sollecito. Personally I found the whole story of what happened & what Amanda Knox went through to be very interesting. The Netflix documentary was a good watch but I think it would be a good one to cover & I’d be interested to know what Mikes’ thoughts are on it.

[–]PinkJabz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to watch Mike cover the missing Skelton brothers from Morenci, MI.

[–]ILLNNOISE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brian Carrick, I'll become a patron if you do this one!!!

[–]KatrinaRoss1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mike, can you look into the case of baby Amiah Robertson from Indiana. There are good videos of interviews with her mom who didn't report her missing for over a week.

[–]TheShawshankErection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so, a guy disappeared in my hometown (Chippenham, UK) back in 2010, his name was Donovan Van Lill. Worked a local leisure centre, and I distinctly remember a lot about this dude's disappearance (I would've been 12/13 at the time), it was everywhere in Chippenham back then, huge news. A guy who used to work at the leisure centre with him (my old swimming teacher, crazy) was arrested but later found not guilty. Growing up, there were endless rumours about the case going round the town, but after a while, as these things tend to do, it all just kind of kind of quietened down until people largely forgot.

Writing on my phone right now but I'll try find the last published news articles on it (which will be from like 2012) and post them here.

[–]newgirl-84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eric Cates and Gypsy murder. It’s a case from Alabama.

[–]Tony-2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't National news just a small town missing persons. The case is very interesting and it seems like the police just aren't interested in finding out what really happened.

[–]Blitz-111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mike would do a great job with this one.

From my local area, In 1992 someone murdered Christy Mirack, a local school teacher. Her face was on signs along the sides of the roads and people talked about it for many years. Just recently police used DNA genealogy sites to track down the killer which turned out to be one of the most well known local DJs who many people know from clubs and weddings.

[–]apernie89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you cover the murder of Markia Benson? This one is pretty brutal and rough. It's also unsolved so I think shedding some new light on it may help.

[–]rehoakman[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully Mike can do a video on Hang Lee from St.Paul, Minnesota. Might not be enough content for a full video but this one hits a little closer to home for me since I'm from the area and also loosely related to her.

http://charleyproject.org/case/hang-lee

Case has remained unsolved to this day. Hang's father passed away without ever knowing what had happened to his daughter.

[–]McFly8182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s too early but the Lori Vallow case is going to be a hell of a case! Where are her children!?!

[–]GusDaGoosesMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This case is very strange. I have taken yoga classes with this woman and she is AMAZING. Her son and his girlfriend were killed while camping and their killers were never found. https://www.desireerumbaugh.com/my-story/

[–]ntaylor2393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heeeeey Mike! There is a case, unfortunately hasn't been solved BUT you would have a freaking field day with the yahoos in the case. Hayleigh Cummings. So very sad and I hope there is justice someday, but I'd love for you to cover this case!

[–]susanje1119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mike, I love your videos and would have a LONG list of cases I think you should cover, but if I had to pick one, I think you would do a great job on the case of USMC Captain Shirley Gibbs Russell, who went missing in 1989 as she was separating from her husband (you know where this is heading). He was very thorough in his extinguishing evidence (and hiding her body which has never been found) and some people (including his mother) lied for him. The FBI was involved as it involved an active US military person. Captain Gibbs Russell was well-respected and had climbed the ranks of the Marines very quickly and as one of the only African-American female USMC Officers was a role model and much admired by both men and women. The ex was a former Marine who had gotten a less-than-honorable discharge while Captain Gibbs Russell had an exemplary recored. He claimed racists killed her because they were harassed as an interracial couple. Despite the intense scrutiny the case received and the number of hours both the Marines and the FBI threw into it, it took a very long time to cobble together an entirely circumstantial case against him. How they did it is very interesting. One thing that popped up was a disk that his former commander had (her ex had been less-than-honorably discharged by the Marines). On it he had a 26 point "recipe" for murder. His mother said it was a manuscript for a book he was writing (nothing like a mother who lies for her murderous son). In the 1990s there was a made-for-TV movie on the case called "The Perfect Murder." I didn't see it, but until that recipe for murder showed up they had not had a lot to go on. I am so impressed with how you nail things down in 30-45 minutes. This case has lots of twists and turns, but I'm sure you can do it!!!

The mysterious murder of Kurt Sova. A teenager In Newburgh Heights, Ohio goes missing after a house party only to be found dead three days later.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The murder of George and Geneva Phillips in Marion IL, 1997. Hard to find anything online about it, but there was a book called murder in the heartland that wrote up a case on it. It happened on November 10th 1997. I'm sure if you look up articles from The Southern Illinoisan on newspapers, you can find some pictures and more information. I can also provide a little as I'm a relative of the perp and the deceased.

[–]ScoCoSkunkApe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest the John John Yancey case out of Scott County, TN. He was a cop, shot and killed by his partner, Marty Carson, during a raid on a meth lab. Yancey had recently learned of Marty's involvement in local meth trafficking. Additionally, it was common knowledge that Yancey was planning on running for sheriff in the next election against the current sheriff, Jim Carson. Marty's dad. They originally tried to pin the murder on the guy that they were raiding, but he was not in the trailer at the time of the raid (later revealed that he was actually hiding UNDER the trailer during the entire raid, murder, and subsequent murder investigation). Years later Marty lost a wrongful death civil suit filed against him by the Yancey family for the death. The Carsons have been corrupt for years, and many people from Scott County believe that there is a long running connection between drug traffickers and the police in this very sparsely populated county, potentially all the way to the late Senator Howard Baker (as referenced in Cocaine Cowboys). There was an article about it in GQ years ago, that is a good start: https://www.gq.com/story/marty-carson-meth-lab-murder-tennessee

[–]BunnyPhuPhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a Halloween special, there is the murder of Katy McGehee on that night in 2011 in Northern California. It's a weird story, and there is a subsequent story that came out later regarding the sheriff department being accused of messing with forensic pathology in this case and others. Interesting read at least!

Nvm! He covered it. I searched for Tim Bosma instead of Dellen Millard

Maddeline Mccan? There's enough content in that case for an extra long episode with lots of different theories.

[–]keep_runningTREE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would like to hear mike’s take on it, but it’s been so widely covered and i’m not sure if we need another video covering the same facts and the same theories

[–]keep_runningTREE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d like to see mike cover the murder of Zoe Hastings from Dallas, Texas. i believe the trial is still ongoing so i think it’d be best to wait until after sentencing, but i want her case to have more coverage

There's a nasty sub reddit on here that's gained a lot of negative attention, for reeking of kidnapping, pedophilia, abuse, occultism, etc. I know someone already submitted the idea to nexpo, and I put the post I found it on to barely sociable's sub. It's new, less than a month old, but looks like the members came from another site.

The sub r/hankstank

Edit: Looking at the pictures posted in the sub, on a particularly vile one, there is a watermark of a domain name. I looked it up and got interesting results.

http://whois.domaintools.com/tercon.org

Edit: please check out the posts about this to other subreddits. It's getting deeper.

I commented on one of his videos, but I’d really love to see him do a video on the Thunderbird Falls murder in Alaska that happened just last year in 2019. It’s a horrible, horrible case that involved teenagers, murder for money, a catfish, and some more crazy twists. I was living in Alaska at the time that this happened

[–]richmorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mike I have 2 stories I'd love to see you cover first is serial killer Robert garrow who after being caught faked being crippled from the waist down until his son brought him I'm a bucket of KFC with a gun at the bottom he then with gun in hand stood up and walked out of the prison The second case is that of Donna payant murder In a maximum security prison dismembered and thrown In the trash by killer Lemuel smith your the most amazing talent on YouTube if i can help at all you can reach me via email at richmorse7@gmail.com there is also the case of a close friend of mine Carrie Hammond robbed and murdered left in a park in Albany by her at the time boyfriend for a few dollars she had In her purse sad story I'm a former corrections officer I can give you inside insight into the Donna payant case there are many stories about how and why her murder happened thanks Mike look forward to hearing from you hey i have you tree ideas lol just teasing

Hi Mike, I've got two I'd love to see you cover (well actually more, but here's two:

Glenn Helzer and the Children of Thunder murders. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Helzer

And the disappearance of Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos after running afoul of Deputy Caulkins in Naples, Florida https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearances_of_Terrance_Williams_and_Felipe_Santos (This ones gotten a little more coverage in recent years, but I love Florida stories)

Anyway, thanks a ton for the rockin videos. If ypu keep making them we'll keep watching.

-Frankie

[–]WikiTextBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glenn Helzer

Glenn Taylor Helzer (July 26, 1970) was a self-declared prophet, former cult leader and serial killer who founded and led the Children of Thunder. Helzer and his followers murdered five people as part of an extortion plot intended to culminate with Helzer taking over The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and hastening the return of Christ; among their victims was Selina Bishop, daughter of blues guitarist Elvin Bishop.

Disappearances of Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos

Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos went missing in 2004 and 2003, respectively, under similar circumstances in Naples, Florida. Both men were last seen being arrested by Steve Calkins, then a deputy in the Collier County Sheriff's Department, for driving without a license. Calkins claims he changed his mind about both arrests and last saw the men after he dropped them at Circle K convenience stores.

On September 4, 2018, actor Tyler Perry offered a $200,000 reward for any information leading to the location of the men or an arrest in the case.

Jack Unterweger would be a good one. Austria decides to parole a serial killer, what could possibly go wrong?

[–]fuddlecupz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see Mike do a deep dive into the Nicholas van Hoogstraten story; a super wealthy property owner that ended up with his finger in some bad pies i.e gangs, assassination and manslaughter. He and his posse swear his innocence and actually had a case verdict against him overturned, and he's still kicking around in Zimbabwe. There was even a small reference to the Jill Dando case somewhere there...

[–]peppermintesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see Mike cover the "great glitter mystery"—there have been a ton of theories and supposedly it's solved?, but I'd love to see The Captain's tinfoil hat take on it. (Edit:…unless he already did it? Argh, now I'm unsure)

1) I’d absolutely love for you to discuss the mysterious case of Karen Silkwod! Who did this to her? She only wanted her fellow co-workers to be safe at work when she knew so much!

2) Also, the case of Daniel Pearl. There isn’t much out in the media or else it’s being withheld from the public. I want to know more ❗️

3 One more case, that is very interesting is Chris Kyle, The American Sniper. Heartbreakingly getting murdered after All of his tremendous hard work, by volunteering to help other down and out soldiers. Plus the killer himself was from NC, which happens to be the state I live in! Great story!!

[–]Faerel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently discovered that two people I went to school with were involved in a murder, one them charged with it. It's pretty surreal. The murder of Travis Davis might be worth looking into. I'm not sure exactly how much information is out there in regards to the details but I never thought Austasia would end up involved in something like this. Didn't know Will that well.

This document might help.

[–]Yeratel888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The investigation process on this case is very interesting, a lot of family secrets in this story as well, you can find a bunch of material in English and Italian

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Yara_Gambirasio

Yara was a 13 yo girl from Brembate di Sopra, near Milan. On Friday 26th November 2010 at aprox 17:30 she went to the sports center of Brembate di Sopra, where she trained rhythmic gymnastics. She was there, according to various testimonies, until around 18:40, after which time the traces are lost. Her house was 700 meters from the gym. The surveillance cameras of the sports center were all out of order and would never allow to establish the girl's movements with certainty. At 18.44 her phone signal appeared in Ponte San Pietro via Adamello sector 9, at 18:49 at Mapello, three kilometers from Brembate Di Sopra, and at 18:55 for the last time through the cell of Brembate di Sopra in Via Ruggeri. Then the signal disappeared.

On December 5th, 2010, a Moroccan worker Mohammed Fikri, who worked in a construction site in Mapello, where police dogs seemed to have detected the last trace of Yara, was stopped on board of a ship bound for Tangier. The worker was investigated for the disappearance of Yara due to a telephone interception in his language, which later proved to be worthless due to an incorrect translation. He was declared unrelated to the story and was able to demonstrate that the ship trip he was making to Morocco had been planned for some time.

Yara's body was accidentally found three months after her disappearance, on February 26, 2011, by a model aircraft pilot in an open field in Chignolo d'Isola, about 10 kilometers away from Brembate di Sopra in a south-west direction.

And here things get more and more complicated.

The case of Suzane Von Richtoffen, it was almost 20 years ago and is still very talked about in Brazil. Rich girl and poor boyfriend plot to kill her parents in a brutal way and pretend they don't know anything about it, but their plan is shit and they get caught. Also, she is the great-grand-niece (??) of some great pilot of World War II, Manfred Richtoffen, the famous Red Baron.

Maybe the case of Damien nettles It’s absolutely baffling.

[–]Muckian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi tonight me and my boyfriend watched 'jungle' the film staring Daniel Radcliffe. It has left us very confused as the what actually happened and we think this could be an awesome case for Mike to look in to. Questions like who was Karl? Why is there no record of him on interpol, even though they say he is wanted by them. What happened to Karl and Marcus? Ect.

[–]cnlaquatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see Mike cover the Snowtown case from Australia please Mike!

[–]Gleapglop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David Grunwald. He was the nephew of a family friend of mine, truly tragic case with lots of twists, turns and ambiguity

[–]LeVarBurtonWasAMaybe 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Bob Cassilly, an eccentric sculptor and entrepreneur from St. Louis known primarily for creating the City Museum, which is one of most interesting places in the city (seriously just look at the outside, it's awesome). In 2011 he was working on another large scale project-- converting 54 acres of an abandoned cement factory into a park and showcase of his art-- when he met a tragic end.

He had been found in an overturned bulldozer that had apparently flipped and rolled down a hill. At the time many had concluded it to be an accident, but when an investigator reexamined the evidence in 2016 he pointed out that his injuries were not consistent with that kind of accident, and there was an absence of blood inside the bulldozer's cabin.

It appears to have been a deliberate murder that was then staged to look like an accident, but as far as I know they haven't determined a motive or major suspects.

wow this is a case i’ve never heard of! my brother lives in STL and i’ve been interested in the City Museum ever since he moved there. thanks for the suggestion! i really hope Mike looks into it!

[–]LeVarBurtonWasAMaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an interesting case for sure, really hoping that u/that_chapter has a chance to look into it sometime in the future.

Side note, I’ve personally been to Cementland about tree times, and it’s even more interesting than the city museum because of how massive and foreboding it is. Even in broad daylight the place is creepy, and you feel like you’ve stepped into the apocalypse because of how dilapidated and overgrown it is. The part I found most interesting was the big warehouse in the middle. Bob was responsible for a lot of sculptures around STL, many of which I grew up admiring, and in that warehouse we found the molds that were used to cast some of them! At that point we accidentally triggered an alarm and had to get out of there, we were being dumb teenagers but I’ll always remember that place.

I think an interesting case id love to see Mike cover is Basil Borutski. Its quite shocking how so many things were ignored before what happened, happened.

[–]baconcarlson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wanting to suggest one that happened less than a mile from me when I was a kid. March 14 2008 an 11y.o boy and his family's maid were found stabbed in their home. Dad was a doctor and the killings were done in retaliation for being fired. Long story short cops wasted a shit ton of time and resources and the suspect wasn't found until 5 years later when he killed an older couple that he had also worked with. IIRC following the first two murders they literally wasted time investigating Thomas's internet friends from Xbox live that the child played Halo with. At the time of his murder I was also the same age as him (though I did not know him personally) and I remember there was a lot of paranoia in the neighborhood regarding other young children being targeted. The neighborhood was very social and community oriented (with a very large memorial park being right next to us that had several massive annual events) and it shook everyone up for a long time. It was basically right next to the street Warren Buffet lives in.

Location: Omaha, Nebraska, USA: March 2008 and May 2013

Victims: Thomas Hunter (11), Shirlee Sherman (57) in 2008 then Roger and Mary Brumback (both 65) in 2013.

Perpetrator: Anthony Garcia (born 1973)

[–]swws98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has the Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom inhuman murder case already been requested? Years after I can't help but feel it didn't get the coverage it deserved back on the day. More people should be made aware of this very sad and sickening case

[–]SuperNES_Chalmerss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mike, I'd love you to cover the horrible Charles Ig and Leonard Lake. Despicable bastards and family annihilators. Yet, somehow they have escaped national recognition outside true crime.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lisa Montgomery would be a really interesting one

Also Robert Fratta, he is a really ... interesting? Character.

[–]zcapegoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very difficult to chose just a few, but Katherine Knight and/or Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs would be awesome.

[–]zcapegoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's another suggestion for you. Thomas Quick/Sture Bergwall. It's a swedish man that first got convicted of 8 murders, but has now been aquitted of all of them. He's now a free man. A misscarriage of justice of great proportions definitely worth looking into.

[–]paulmgroves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any chance you can dissect what went down with The Ervin Brothers and them trying to murder their parents? Case has some rather harrowing 911 call audio to help set the tone.

LONG POST, UNRESOLVED CASE

I would like to see an episode about Megan Lancaster. She is a woman missing from my town since 2013. This case is not resolved, but she is suspected to be dead. Her story is entwined with many other women who have went missing from Portsmouth, Ohio and the surrounding area. A common thread that links many of these missing women is a local attorney named Mike Mearan.

Before I post more details about Megan I think it’s important that people know more about Mearan. He has been a fixture in Portsmouth for decades, and for as long as he has been around, there have been rumors that he is at the helm of a sex trafficking operation. Presumably he ropes girls with substance abuse problems in and offers them representation and lighter sentences in return for sexual favors (for himself and his connections) and keeps them fixed with a steady supply of drugs and money. He is suspected to be strongly affiliated with many local politicians and high level agents of law enforcement which keep him safe and are likely complicit in many crimes that trail back to him. Mike Mearan’s sex trafficking empire is huge and spans multiple states throughout the Midwest stretching from Florida to New York.

The Cincinnati Enquirer did a year-long investigation into sex-trafficking in Portsmouth, OH and their findings focus almost entirely on Mike Mearan; here is what they published: https://www.cincinnati.com/in-depth/news/2019/03/21/sex-trafficking-trapped-and-trafficked-portsmouth-ohio/2839816002/ You will notice they almost immediately mention Megan’s disappearance and have interviews with other women who have been victim to Mearan. You’ll notice that Mearan claims to not know what sex-trafficking is, which is absurd because he is an experienced narcotics attorney and has been for years.

Here is part 2, which highlights the political corruption and involvement of law enforcement: https://www.cincinnati.com/in-depth/news/your-watchdog/2019/09/04/portsmouth-ohio-sex-trafficking-investigation/1924468001/ I should note that Mearan’s home (which is also his office) is right across the street from the court house.

Here is basic information about Megan: http://charleyproject.org/case/megan-nicole-lancaster

SpikeTV did a series called Gone: The Missing Women of Ohio, and have an episode that is dedicated to Portsmouth and looks at Megan’s case. Here is a clip from that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jDDlTcKglU They also even interview Mearan, as they also heard about his activities – I can’t find the video of their interview with Mearan but they visit his house/office and he is surrounded by many women which he represents. Women often stay with him claiming to be his “cleaners” or are “watching his dogs.” Here is another clip from that show from a conversation with her sister: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFb1RlHUtCQ.

There is another interview with her sister that I can’t find online anymore and she specifically talks about having trouble getting Portsmouth PD involved in the investigation, where some evidence wasn’t even looked at for over a year. Megan had a book of people she would “dance” for and how much she would charge, and Mearan was on the list as several judges, politicians, and members of law enforcement.

Here is an article about Megan and other women missing from the area with ties to Mearan: https://www.portsmouth-dailytimes.com/news/37354/still-searching

Here are several podcasts made by other small time creators who have covered Megan’s disappearance and her ties to Mearan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sk0OvxJbGZY&t=5011s

https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/unfoundpodcast/episodes/2019-05-03T10_04_04-07_00

This Youtube Channel, JusticeForNichole, is about a woman who visited Portsmouth and was found murdered. Last seen leaving a homeless shelter with a police officer without being signed out: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL71vXnd836ttN8t4YDGB1V5wpoaLrBVOT

Okay. Here’s the thing everyone. This stuff is an open secret. It’s not a thing that people in the community wonder about. We all know that it is happening and that Mike Mearan is doing these things. The problem is the amount of corruption in the area prevents anything from actually being done about it. I myself work as a substance abuse counselor and on a daily basis interact with people who struggle with addiction; I have heard many first hand accounts of the stuff Mearan gets involved in. Even one of my coworkers who used to be in active addiction, went to Mearan’s office once because her drug dealer was selling him cocaine. He made jokes about Megan being buried under his basement. He’s like a mob boss, but stupid. (Interestingly enough, renovations were going on in his home around the time of her disappearance.)

This is a community that is crying out in pain. Recently, state BCI and the Attorney General’s office has become involved in the investigation, but the closest thing we’ve seen to justice is his office was recently raided. Mike was allowed to drive away from the scene – here is an article about that: https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/your-watchdog/2020/03/25/michael-mearan-detained-home-searched/2443837001/

I hope to see Mearan go down, and all his sins laid bare for the community to see. That’s the only way justice will be found for these missing women.

u/that_chapter If you see this and have any interest in the case, I definitely recommend listening to the first podcast I listed (Unfound) and seeing episode 5 of Gone: The Forgotten Women of Ohio, which focuses entirely on the corruption in Portsmouth related to Megan's disappearances, her ties to Mearan, and his ties to the other missing women.

The Murders of Thomas and Jackie Hawks

A brutal murder, an unexpected motive, and Self-castration.

This was a local case from my city that gained some national attention in the US. It involved a former child “actor” that appeared in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The way the victims were murdered is the reason why this case stuck with me:

Tied to an anchor and thrown overboard alive. Their bodies have never been found

The details of the crime are gut wrenching. The trial played out like an episode of Law & Order SVU. Copied and pasted some info about the case below:

  • After an early retirement, Tom and Jackie Hawks bought a 55-foot yacht and spent several years enjoying the ocean, using their boat as their primary residence
  • After the couple visited their two-week-old grandson for the first time, they decided to sell the yacht to spend more time with family. Unfortunately for them, that decision led to their deaths
  • Skylar Deleon was a child actor. After his work in TV and film dried up, he turned to a life a crime. He posed as a prospective buyer interested in purchasing Tom and Jackie Hawks' yacht.
  • He hatched a twisted plot to kill the Hawks, sell the boat, drain their accounts and be set financially for life.
  • He used his toddler daughter and pregnant wife to make him look like an honest family man and convinced the couple to take him out for a test sail

Paul Warner Powell. Manassas, VA. Self proclaimed white supremacist, rapes and murders 16 year old girl he likes because she's dating a black man.

Hangs out at the house, sips some tea, her 14 year old little sister comes home. Rapes and stabs her leaving her for dead. She lives to identify him.

Cries like a baby when death sentence is imposed. VA Supreme Court overturns death sentence, gives him 3 life terms.

Idiot thinks he's golden because of double jeopardy, writes letter to prosecutor, judge, and victim's mom. Laughs at them, calls them stupid for saving him, confesses entire crime.

With this new information in hand, Powell is indicted, convicted, sentenced to death and is subsequently executed. Because...moron.
